Chapter 416, I’m being nosy (One more update)

~7 min read 1,320 words

Ji Mingqian was at a loss for words, his stomach hurt so much that even his lips looked pale.

Jiang Yisheng took his own backpack, pulled out a thermos, unscrewed the lid, and handed it to him, "Take it."

Not to mention a thermos cup, Ji Mingqian himself would never carry water with him, usually quenching his thirst with cold drinks.

Ji Mingqian looked at the thermos cup handed to him, steam billowing out gently.

"What are you looking at, hurry up and drink some hot water," Jiang Yisheng huffed.

Ji Mingqian reached out to take the thermos cup, his fingertips touching his, icy cold.

So cold.

Jiang Yisheng frowned and continued to rummage through his backpack for something.

The water was too hot, Ji Mingqian took small sips, his stomach felt warm but was still uncomfortably tight.

The person beside him was engrossed in searching his backpack, drawing Ji Mingqian’s sideways glance, "What are you looking for?"

"Oil," Jiang Yisheng said without lifting his head.

Ji Mingqian was startled, "What?"

A smile traced Jiang Yisheng’s lips as he pulled a bottle of medicinal oil out of his backpack.

The transparent crystal bottle reflected the purple oil, casting enchanting colors.

"Here you go."

Ji Mingqian looked at the crystal bottle extended to him, his gaze on it was oddly probing, "For drinking?"

Jiang Yisheng rolled his eyes at him, "For rubbing, it’s medicinal oil."

He should make him drink it for a try.

"I haven’t fallen anywhere, why are you giving me medicinal oil?" In Ji Mingqian’s mind, medicinal oil was something used when injured from a fall or a hit.

Jiang Yisheng stared at him for a few seconds, contempt brewing in the depths of his eyes, "Aren’t you having a stomachache?"

"I won’t rub it, I’ll just bear with it and it will be fine," Ji Mingqian said indifferently, sipping his water.

He hated the pungent smell of medicinal oil a lot.

Seeing his nonchalant attitude, a touch of annoyance shaded Jiang Yisheng’s brows, "Your complexion is as pale as a ghost, and you call that fine?"

His normally mild voice suddenly turned cold, "Are you going to apply it or not?"

Ji Mingqian stubbornly responded, "No."

"Fine, I’m being nosy." Jiang Yisheng moved his gaze away indifferently and turned his back on him.

The atmosphere that had just begun to warm up suddenly dropped back to frigid territory.

Ji Mingqian stared at the back of his head, a trace of confusion passing through his attractive peach-blossom eyes beneath his arched brows.

Is he angry?

Jiang Yisheng’s eyes were closed, but he felt anything but sleepy, his chest tight, the irritation within him roiling uncontrolled.

It was his own fault for meddling, for making a fool of himself. Ji Mingqian, if you’re in pain, you deserve it.

Unable to vent his simmering anger, suddenly he felt a nudge from the elbow of the person beside him.

"The medicinal oil, are you lending it or not?"

"Get lost," Jiang Yisheng snapped without turning his head, anger evident in his tone.

Ji Mingqian was taken aback by his fury, his face full of confusion.

He touched his nose, then retracted his hand sulkily.

"Jiang Yisheng, are you angry?" he asked tentatively in a low voice.

Jiang Yisheng, spiteful, said, "No."

Oho, with that tone, yet claiming not to be angry.

Must be kidding.

Ji Mingqian helplessly explained, "That, I didn’t mean to pick a fight with you, it’s just that I really dislike the irritating smell of medicinal oil."

Jiang Yisheng remained silent, still ignoring him.

"The medicinal oil, are you lending it or not?" Ji Mingqian stretched out his hand, poking his arm, and asked with a sheepish face.

The man’s softened voice, slightly hoarse, sneaked into Jiang Yisheng’s ear, causing his long eyelashes to flutter gently.

He tossed the tightly-held bottle at him, grumbling, "Don’t disturb me again."

Ji Mingqian caught the bottle, a triumphant smile curling the corners of his mouth.

Looks like the anger has faded a bit.

Suddenly, the faint scent of medicinal oil wafted into her nostrils, and Jiang Yisheng slowly opened her eyes, the gloom that blocked her heart lightened slightly.

...

Waves of sea breeze dispersed the mist, and the warm sunshine scattered across the sea surface, stirring up myriads of glittering ripples.

After morning exercises, people from the Dark Hall rushed to the cafeteria for food.

Wei Bei, sipping on coffee, devoured a sandwich hungrily and asked unclearly, "Is madam still tinkering with those things?"

Wei Dong nodded, "The preparations should be about done."

Always being on the defensive, it’s time for fortunes to reverse; this time they would take the initiative to deliver a big surprise to those people.

Curious about Ye Jiuliang’s odd and rare contraptions, Wei Bei grabbed a piece of bread and hurried off, "I’m going to have a look."

Wei Dong looked at his plate and frowned slightly.

This bad habit of eating without cleaning up after himself. I wonder who let him get away with it.

For the past two days, Ye Jiuliang had completely taken over Wei Xi’s lab.

For the "warm gift" planned for Los Island, she hadn’t closed her eyes for two days and a night.

"Madam, all the items have been boxed up and sent to the plane," Wei Xi ran back, gasping for air, his face alight with an excited smile.

He couldn’t wait to see the horrified expressions on the faces of those on Los Island when they found out they were being targeted.

"You guys go have breakfast, we’ll set off in an hour," Ye Jiuliang pulled on a smile and instructed.

Wei Xi nodded and went to help Wei Nan clean up the mess on the ground.

Stepping out of the lab, facing the man coming to look for her, Ye Jiuliang’s eyes lit up with a smile, and she ran over.

With a sudden leap, she clung tightly to Li Mochan.

"Hungry?" Li Mochan wrapped his arms around her, his gaze lowering to the person hanging onto him.

Ye Jiuliang nodded brightly, "I am."

He asked, "Then shall we eat first?"

Feet touching the ground, Ye Jiuliang linked her arm through his and replied cheerfully, "Sure."

On the way to the cafeteria, Ye Jiuliang said. "Once we settle the matter of Los Island, I need to make a trip back to the capital."

Li Mochan asked, "The anniversary of Old Madam Ye’s death?"

Ye Jiuliang looked up at him, surprised, "How did you know?"

"Is it strange that I know?" Li Mochan reached out to ruffle her hair, "Let’s go back together."

Ye Jiuliang curled her lips slightly, "Mhm."

**

The midday sun carried traces of sultriness.

Los Island’s geographical location was remote, and if not for the confession of a man in black, no one would have guessed that this was a base for training Dead Warriors.

Two dark airplanes slowly reduced their speed, circling above.

Under the dazzling sunlight, the emblems of the Dark Hall on the planes shone with a captivating brilliance.

Ye Jiuliang held a pair of binoculars, the vast island completely within her view.

"Madam, should we begin?" Wei Xi, eager to start, could hardly wait to take action.

Ye Jiuliang put down the binoculars, her lips curving into a chilling arc.

"Send them the big gift."

"Got it."

Wei Xi whistled and walked away with Wei Bei, arm in arm.

"What’s in that box?" Li Mochan encircled her from behind, his gaze moving to a box placed separately not far away.

Ye Jiuliang’s slender eyes narrowed slightly, a sly glimmer flashed, "Firecrackers."

Dare to plot against her, and she’d dare to bring a crew to their turf to set off firecrackers.

Annihilate their people, destroy their base, and then celebrate with a box of firecrackers.

Li Mochan let out a soft chuckle.

How come his little rascal is so endearing.
