Chapter 473, It’s no use whoever goes (third watch)
"If it were me without memory loss, what would I do?" Li Mochan opened a crack in the window, and the cold, fine snow slipped inside.
"The one you can’t bear to lose, if you hadn’t lost your memory, today would be the day you and Ye Jiuliang register your marriage, you two had agreed that on the first snowfall in the capital, you would go to register," Jiang Yisheng said.
"A few days ago, when Jiuliang didn’t come back with you, you kept urging her to return, fearing she wouldn’t make it back in time. Yet she did come back, but you had lost your memory."
Li Mochan slightly furrowed his brows, hooked a finger, and closed the window tightly.
He turned his head, his clear gaze falling on his face.
"Is she really that important to me?"
Jiang Yisheng nodded seriously, "The you after memory loss is essentially another Ye Jiuliang."
Li Mochan was silent for a moment, his tone light, "You may leave now."
Jiang Yisheng was puzzled and yet again confused by his response.
So, is it to go or not to go?
Facing the aloofness in his eyes, Jiang Yisheng let out a sigh and turned to walk out.
He had said all he needed to say; if he wouldn’t go, there was nothing he could do about it. He obviously couldn’t tie him up and take him there, and he couldn’t overpower him in a fight either.
Jiang Yisheng went downstairs dejectedly and returned to the living room, where a group of people surrounded him, curious about who had called.
"Jiuliang is drunk and has collapsed in the snow. XaXinuoi Nuoi said if cousin doesn’t care about Jiuliang and doesn’t go to pick him up, she will take him back to Country Y. Even if cousin regains his memory, she won’t let him see Jiuliang again," Jiang Yisheng explained tersely.
"Xiaojiu is sleeping in the snow?" Veya was shocked, her brows knit together, "It’s so cold outside, what if he catches a cold from the freezing weather?"
"What is Ahan thinking?" Jiang Hai cut to the chase, "Is he going to pick him up or not?"
"Cousin didn’t say," Jiang Yisheng replied helplessly.
"That brat Ahan, what is he thinking? If he doesn’t go to pick him up now, he’ll regret it once he gets his memory back," the Jiang family matriarch couldn’t sit still and made to go upstairs to find Li Mochan.
A granddaughter-in-law as good as her is hard to find even if you search with a lantern; if he chased her away, she wouldn’t let him off easily.
Jiang Yisheng steadied her, consoling in a gentle voice, "Grandmother, let cousin think it over. He has lost his memory now, forcing him won’t do any good."
"With so much wind outside, and the snow falling, I give him time to think, but what about Xiaojiu? What if something happens to her, such a tiny thing, frozen and helpless?" the Jiang family matriarch was so angry she couldn’t catch her breath.
"Why don’t we go to pick her up?" Wei Xi suggested.
"Having the lady stay out in the snow for a night isn’t a solution either."
Jiang Yisheng cut off his idea; he could hear the helplessness and irritation in XaXinuoi Nuoi’s voice, "If it were possible to bring her back, XaXinuoi Nuoi wouldn’t have called. If cousin doesn’t go, it’s pointless for anyone else to go."
"The master has come downstairs," Wei Nan, standing at the staircase entrance, looked up just in time to see the tall figure.
Upon hearing this, the noisy voices abruptly ceased.
Everyone looked at the staircase in unison; the black shined shoes reflected the light as they stepped onto the carpet, the bright lights lingering around the tall figure of the man.
"Master, are you going out?" Wei Nan was the first to react, unusually observant.
Li Mochan spoke in a cold voice, "The car keys."
Wei Nan’s brow lifted with joy, and he eagerly said, "Master, I’m familiar with the roads in the capital, let me drive you."
Li Mochan remained silent, which was taken as consent. He stepped towards the exit, with Wei Nan swiftly following behind him.
Only when the sound of the car engine starting echoed from the courtyard did everyone come back to their senses.
