Chapter 490, I have a good impression of him (first update)
Facing her piercing gaze, Mo Chen felt somewhat guilty and spoke insincerely, "No, I just had more classes at school today, and I arranged to have breakfast with a classmate."
Seeing through his lie, Mo Su didn’t expose him, "Remember to come back for dinner tonight."
Dinner?
Mo Chen’s face showed his difficulty; he feared he might get indigestion from having dinner with her.
Mo Su’s face turned cold, her forceful tone leaving no room for maneuver, "What, is there a problem?"
"No, no problem," Mo Chen muttered under his breath, somewhat reluctantly.
Mo Su’s eyes lost their chill, "Let’s go."
Finally, he could leave. Mo Chen breathed a sigh of relief and hurried out with quick steps.
"Miss, the young master is still childlike at heart, please don’t take it to heart," Mengzhu said, watching the disappearing figure at the door, speaking in a steady voice.
Mo Su scoffed with a sarcastic cold laugh, a hint of scorn emerging in the depths of her eyes, "That may not be the case; he’s awfully attentive to that girl Ye Jiuliang, a person who can’t even distinguish his own family from outsiders."
She was his own sister, yet he avoided her as if he couldn’t do so fast enough, a truly ungrateful white-eyed wolf.
"Let’s not talk about him for now." Mo Su straightened out the slightly wrinkled cuffs and stood up, "Take the gifts prepared for Elder Li to the car first."
Mengzhu respectfully nodded her head, "Yes."
...
Not long after breakfast, Feng Yi arrived.
Upon seeing Ji Mingqian was also there, he showed a slight surprise.
"Mingqian, when did you arrive?"
Ji Mingqian said, "Yesterday."
"Is Jiuliang here?" As Feng Yi looked around, he searched for Ye Jiuliang’s figure.
"Are you looking for her for something?" Jiang Yisheng handed him a cup of tea, "She and her cousin went out early this morning and haven’t returned yet."
"This morning’s papers were supposed to publish an article clarifying those rumors. Last night, Jiuliang sent me a message, saying that she wanted to delay the publication of all the reports until noon," Feng Yi explained, his face full of confusion.
"I came here to ask about the situation, to see if there were any last-minute changes."
At this, everyone was equally baffled, clearly unaware of this matter.
Ji Mingqian frowned, delaying the clarification of rumors, Ajiu must be plotting something.
"Everyone’s here," a kind voice with a hint of laughter came from the doorway.
"Uncle Ming," Jiang Yisheng called out warmly upon seeing the newcomer.
Except for Feng Yi and Jiang Yisheng, who had met Mingchong before, everyone else was seeing him for the first time.
"Asheng, who is this?" Jiang Hai inquired with a questioning gaze toward his son.
"Dad, this is Jiuliang’s uncle," Jiang Yisheng stood up and introduced both sets of parents to each other.
"Uncle Ming, these are my parents and my grandmother."
"Ah, Jiuliang’s uncle, please, take a seat," said the elderly Madam Jiang as she got up, warmly inviting him to sit down.
"I apologize for not having found the right time to visit you before; it is truly rude of me."
Mingchong smiled faintly, feigning help as he touched her arm, "Madam, you jest; why would you come to visit someone younger like me?"
"Let’s all sit and talk, no need to stand," Jiang Hai helped the elderly lady sit down, speaking amicably.
"Uncle Ming, what brings you here all of a sudden today?" Jiang Yisheng asked curiously.
Mingchong took the teacup Jiang Hai offered, still wearing a light smile, "That girl Ajiu asked me to come over, said she had something to discuss with me but didn’t make it clear on the phone."
Feng Yi was even more bewildered, what on earth were these two up to?
...
Li Mansion.
"Tie Shan, how do I look in these clothes?" Master Li hurried downstairs with a spring in his step, tugging at the hem of his garment.
Tie Shan put down the teaware and looked up to see the old master’s face beaming with joy, and quickly stepped forward.
"Master, you look so happy. Is there a special occasion?"
"Ahan that rascal called to say he just got the certificate with Xiaojiu, and asked me to go to Mo Garden to celebrate," Master Li’s smile was so wide it almost split his face, and the dark red Tang suit made him look even more radiant.
They say one’s spirit is lifted in times of joy, and that was probably the case.
Got the certificate?
Tie Shan was taken aback, then his face broke into a smile.
"Hahaha, that’s great news indeed, we should really celebrate."
"Enough with the chit-chat, how about my outfit? Is it festive enough?" Master Li was rarely so vain, but he pressed for an answer.
With a bright smile, Tie Shan assured, "It suits you very well, exceptionally festive."
"Right? I thought so too," Master Li complimented himself satisfactorily.
"Master, there’s a visitor," a servant hurried in and said respectfully.
"A visitor?" Master Li, confused, sank the smile from his face and put on a grave look, "Who is it?"
The servant replied, "It’s a woman, she says her surname is Mo and came especially to visit you. She also said she is a schoolmate of Young Master Mohan from abroad."
A schoolmate of Mohan?
Master Li furrowed his brows and, after a moment’s thought, said, "Let her in."
"Yes."
The servant left, and Master Li turned his gaze to Tie Shan, "Tie Shan, go call Xiaojiu and inform her about this."
Given Mohan’s current memory loss, it’s better to be cautious in all matters.
Tie Shan nodded and headed toward the kitchen with his phone in hand.
Soon, footsteps approached, and Master Li’s eyelids flickered up.
The woman walking in front was tall and statuesque, with a beautiful face and dazzling golden long hair.
She carried herself with an elegance and dignity that seemed to come from a well-bred lady of a noble family.
After a few glances, Master Li unobtrusively withdrew his gaze.
Compared to Xiaojiu, she still fell short by a wide margin.
Suddenly, the clicking of high heels ceased.
Mo Su looked at the old man sitting on the sofa and smiled lightly, "Old Master Li, I have long admired your reputation. My name is Mo Su, Mohan’s good school friend from abroad."
Master Li spoke indifferently, "Take a seat."
"Mengzhu, bring the things over," Mo Su took a seat opposite Master Li and glanced sideways at the person standing to one side.
"Yes."
Only then did Master Li take notice of the person who had come in with Mo Su, glancing at the gifts she held in her hands with a detached expression.
"Old Master Li, this is my first visit to your home, so here’s a little something I prepared for you. I hope you’ll like it," Mo Su said in a gentle voice.
In the past, before he had accepted Ye Jiuliang, Master Li might have been polite to her for a while.
Now.
Well, that would be difficult.
Being in a hurry to get to Mo Garden, Master Li didn’t beat around the bush and asked directly, "Miss Mo, what brings you here today?"
"Old Master Li is a straightforward man, so I’ll get right to the point. The first time I saw Mohan at school, I admired him, and I’ve had a good impression of him ever since, right up to this moment," Mo Su said with a covered smile, speaking unhurriedly.
So she was here for his son, Master Li thought to himself.
"You should know that Mohan already has a girlfriend," said Master Li, probing without directly mentioning that Li Mohan and Ye Jiuliang had already gotten their certificate.
