Chapter 505, It’s Not An Outsider (Third Update)

~8 min read 1,415 words

Mo Chen gave a sheepish smile, scratching his temple with some hesitation.

"That..."

Ye Jiuliang said, "If you have something to say, just say it."

"Although my sister can be a bit overbearing, she means no harm to you. Could you perhaps be a bit more lenient with her?" Mo Chen observed her expression, afraid that she might take offence.

Even though Master Extinction could be somewhat terrifying and had a bit of a temper, she was still his biological sister, and he could not stand by and watch her get into trouble.

Suddenly, silence enveloped them.

After a brief moment, Ye Jiuliang curled his lips into a smile, a harmless one that held a deceptive edge, "As long as she doesn’t provoke me, I naturally won’t do anything to her."

Mo Chen breathed a sigh of relief, resolute in his decision to keep a close eye on Mo Su’s actions to prevent any disputes between them.

Before he could speak, another cold, mocking voice threw a question at him, "Do you know why I encountered your sister?"

Looking up into her unfathomable, ink-black eyes, Mo Chen suddenly had a bad premonition.

Before he could guess, the cool voice rang out again, "Because your sister planned to steal my man."

Mo Chen looked shocked, his heart jolted by the scare and scarcely able to take the strain.

His surprised eyes flickered towards Li Mochan, then hastily shifted away after mere seconds.

"Sister, could you have misunderstood something?"

He knew Master Extinction better than anyone else; she was not one to fall for someone. To her, the Mo Family’s honor and interests were everything.

Seeing the doubt in his eyes, Ye Jiuliang let out a light, dismissive laugh, "Whether it’s a misunderstanding or not, you can go back and ask your sister."

Ye Jiuliang’s confident tone shook Mo Chen’s conviction a bit, and he found himself at a loss for words, "This..."

Could it be that Master Extinction also knew what it felt like to have a crush?

After wrestling with his thoughts, he still couldn’t understand, and decided to put it aside for the moment.

It wasn’t often he got to see Ye Jiuliang, and he didn’t want to leave a bad impression on her because of these issues.

Catching a glimpse of the rings on their fingers, Mo Chen changed the subject, "Sister, I heard you guys got married. I haven’t had the chance to congratulate you yet."

Ye Jiuliang thanked him and, noting the time, stood up, "We have other matters to attend to, so we’ll take our leave now. Thank you for the coffee."

Mo Chen stood as well, wanting to say something to make them stay but then remembered the evening banquet.

Holding back for a while, he still couldn’t help asking, "Sister, will you be going to the banquet tomorrow?"

The two figures in front didn’t stop, and a cold voice entered his ears, "See you tomorrow."

Mo Chen was startled at first and then smiled.

Today was really his lucky day.

No, he had to go back and get some clarity from Master Extinction.

After paying, he hurriedly left the café.

...

The moon cast a hazy glow, and the drifting clouds were like fluffs of cotton, quietly floating by.

After talking on the phone with Ye Jiuliang, Ji Mingqian had a long sleep into the evening, almost as if he planned to sleep right through until his flight back to Country Y the next day.

However, he was eventually woken up by a call from Feng Yi.

"It’s barely evening. What, are you an old man that you need to sleep so early?" Feng Yi teased on the phone upon hearing that he just woke up.

Ji Mingqian propped his forehead with his hand, his voice deep and husky from just waking up, "Is there something you needed?"

"I’m at the bar. Do you want to come over for a drink? We just got a batch of good booze in today."

Ji Mingqian slowly got out of bed, feeling sore all over from sleeping all day.

He asked, "Are there any strangers there?"

"No." Not giving him a chance to hesitate, Feng Yi urged, "Come on, I’ll find you a few beauties. It’s the usual place."

Having been hung up on first, Ji Mingqian put down his phone and walked barefoot towards the bathroom.

...

CL Bar.

After finishing the call, Feng Yi stuffed his cellphone back into his coat pocket and picked up the remote to turn on the sound system.

The bombastic electronic music blasted through the speakers, filled with fiery enthusiasm.

Jiang Yisheng returned from the restroom, and the overwhelming electronic music almost made him think he had walked into the wrong private room.

He closed the door and, covering his ears, looked at the man nodding his head to the beat, his expression full of bewilderment.

"Feng Yi, did you take the wrong medication tonight?" he walked over, raising his voice to complain, "Turn the volume down right now, my ears are about to go deaf from the noise."

Engrossed in his own world, Feng Yi didn’t catch what he said, only seeing his lips move, "What did you say?"

Jiang Yisheng, speechless, found the remote and directly turned down the volume.

He sat down beside him, "Why blast the music so loud, what, you’re getting old and deaf?"

Feng Yi looked at him with amusement, "What’s with your temper? You haven’t been accepting my invites for the past couple of days, so why did you decide to show up tonight?"

Jiang Yisheng didn’t answer, just picked up the juice from the table and drank.

Others come to the bar to drink alcohol, but all he had was the fate of drinking juice.

Feng Yi fiddled with a bottle of red wine on the table and chose the one with the oldest vintage, "By the way, someone else is coming later."

"Who?" Jiang Yisheng asked perplexedly, wasn’t it just supposed to be the two of them tonight?

"Mingqian," Feng Yi picked up a wine glass, "I heard from Jiuliang that Mingqian is returning to Country Y tomorrow."

Jiang Yisheng’s eyes slightly narrowed, replying offhandedly, "Is that so? He never mentioned it to me."

Not long after, the door to the private room was pushed open again.

As Feng Yi looked up and saw the person who came in, he teased, "Mingqian, if you were any later, this bottle of wine would’ve been inside my stomach."

Ji Mingqian threw his car keys on the table and out of the corner of his eye caught sight of the person sitting on the sofa. His footsteps came to an abrupt halt.

Why was Jiang Yisheng here?

Memories from that day uncontrollably invaded his mind, and his thin lips felt slightly hot.

Even that crisp, cool fragrance seemed to still linger around the tip of his nose.

Ji Mingqian’s expression darkened slightly as he reached out to grab Feng Yi, dragging him outside.

"Hey, Mingqian, what are you dragging me out for?" Spilled wine on his hand, Feng Yi looked utterly confused.

Not missing the flash of surprise that had swept through Ji Mingqian’s eyes upon seeing him, Jiang Yisheng’s gaze gradually dimmed.

Was he that frightening, appearing like a ghost to him?

Outside in the corridor, Feng Yi shook off the wine stain from his hand, "Why pull me out here, can’t you say it inside?"

"Didn’t you say there wouldn’t be anyone else?" Ji Mingqian asked, grinding his molars.

Feng Yi replied without a second thought, "Asheng isn’t an outsider."

Ji Mingqian, "..."

"Did you two have a fight?" Feng Yi gave him a sidelong glance, "You’ve never been like this at our gatherings with Asheng before."

Ji Mingqian coughed lightly, doing his best to explain, "A fight? No way. He just doesn’t like this kind of place, and I was worried we might get too carried away and scare him."

"Relax, everyone gets to enjoy the beauties, Asheng isn’t a kid anymore and should be exposed to the world outside," Feng Yi said with a sleazy smile, dragging him back to the private room.

"Come on, let’s talk more inside."

Dragged back into the private room by Feng Yi, Ji Mingqian chose the seat farthest away from Jiang Yisheng.

"Mingqian, try this wine," Feng Yi offered.

Accepting the wine glass from Feng Yi, Ji Mingqian took a small sip and absentmindedly fiddled with his phone.
