Chapter 274: The Romanian Laboratory (Part 1)

~7 min read 1,226 words

Wang Liumei's motorcade left the airport, turned into the suburbs, and drove through streets that were somewhat chaotic. She showed quite a bit of interest in the beautiful scenery along the roadside.

However, those people taking advantage of the chaos to do their "dirty work" clearly didn't dare to target a motorcade led by armored vehicles.

After about twenty minutes of driving, the motorcade entered the city center.

Once in the city, the security situation improved significantly. Many pedestrians could be seen along the road, and it remained a scene of civilized society.

People showed some interest in the lead armored vehicle, guessing which country's leader was visiting.

After driving through the bustling downtown area for a while, the motorcade stopped beside a hotel.

Wang Liumei, under the protection of her bodyguards, entered the hotel.

The girl Li Boyong had asked her to find was staying in this very hotel.

The front desk manager of this not-so-high-end hotel clearly wasn't used to seeing such a display, and approached to serve them with some trepidation.

The witch who played with money flashed a sweet smile at this moment, dismissed the manager with a few simple words, and successfully led her bodyguards into the hotel elevator.

Soon, the group appeared in front of Miriallia's room.

She nodded to the bodyguard behind her, who pulled out a portable electronic device and approached the room's electronic lock.

With two beeps, the door opened, and the bodyguards filed in.

"Who are you people... what are you doing... let me go... mmm... mmm!"

There was a brief commotion in the room, which then quickly quieted down.

Shortly after, Wang Liumei saw several bodyguards escorting a girl with short, yellowish-brown hair to the door.

The girl seemed to have realized the fact that she was powerless to resist and had given up struggling.

But her eyes, darting around, indicated that she hadn't truly given up resistance.

However, upon seeing Wang Liumei, she was clearly stunned.

Why would such a cute and sweet girl in a cheongsam appear at the scene of her kidnapping?

Judging by the attitude of the people who had kidnapped her, they seemed to be following this girl's orders, but why would this girl want to kidnap her?

"Hehe, a stubborn girl." Wang Liumei was also sizing up Miriallia. She first touched Miriallia's face and judged, "A little bit dangerous."

Then, her hands moved downward, and to Miriallia's anxious gaze, she raided her "airport" (chest).

"Hmm, safe!"

Wang Liumei made her judgment while groping.

For some reason, Miriallia felt she had been greatly insulted.

Wang Liumei didn't care about Miriallia's anger at all, still smiling as she said, "Don't worry, we don't want to hurt you. Someone just wants to see you and have you do something for him."

Miriallia turned her head away, expressing her refusal to cooperate.

Seeing this, Wang Liumei leaned in and whispered a few words into Miriallia's ear. Soon, Miriallia's previously disdainful eyes gradually turned to surprise.

————

At Marseille Naval Port, Li Boyong's fleet was anchored.

Li Boyong received word from Wang Liumei that she had found Miriallia and was bringing the girl to rendezvous with him.

At the agreed-upon time, a formation of armed helicopters landed precisely on the deck of the Jones.

Li Boyong immediately saw Wang Liumei in her cheongsam, and Miriallia walking behind her.

Compared to before, Miriallia had grown a bit taller and looked more mature, though there was still no hope to be seen on her chest.

It seemed that kid Tolle wasn't working hard enough!

Complaining inwardly, Li Boyong stepped forward to greet Wang Liumei, and some of the officers behind him also offered extremely polite pleasantries.

After all, this unit was merely a private armed force of Logos. And the cute yet proud girl before them was a member of Logos.

After some formalities, Li Boyong ordered that no one was to be disturbed, and he took Wang Liumei and Miriallia to his room.

Along the way, Miriallia remained restrained. She was extremely curious whether this masked soldier before her was truly Second Lieutenant Li Boyong, who had gone missing during the last great war.

Once all three were in the room, Li Boyong removed his helmet, revealing his true face. "Long time no see, Miriallia."

"Is... is it really Second Lieutenant Li Boyong?" Miriallia seemed unable to believe it. Although that familiar face was right before her, she still found it hard to believe.

"It's me. By the way, let me correct you: I'm a Colonel now. Of course, I'm using the name Neo Roanoke." Li Boyong laughed. "I know you might be confused, so let me explain exactly what happened to me after that battle."

Then, Li Boyong brought out his Oscar-worthy acting skills and began telling his story.

In his description, he had been rescued by Blue Cosmos forces at the end of the Yakin battle.

But Blue Cosmos, having learned his identity, hadn't killed him; instead, they took a liking to his abilities and brainwashed him.

He had indeed done some dirty work for the Earth Alliance as Neo Roanoke, but during a certain battle, he accidentally recovered some memory fragments.

Li Boyong, now suspicious, happened to meet Wang Liumei, who felt some sympathy for his plight. With her help, he finally recovered his memories.

Incidentally, he also shared some inside information regarding Logos.

This series of experiences, comparable to a soap opera, stirred Miriallia's sympathy, while she was simultaneously shocked by the inside information about Logos that Li Boyong had shared.

However, Miriallia still cautiously asked Li Boyong some questions about their past on the Archangel, all of which Li Boyong answered successfully.

"So, Colonel, what are your plans for bringing me here this time?"

Miriallia now believed that the person before her was indeed Li Boyong, but she still maintained her caution.

"I hope you can help me contact the Archangel. I know that ship has left Orb, and I believe you should be able to get in touch with them." Li Boyong said bluntly.

"Once you contact the Archangel, what do you intend to do, Colonel?" Miriallia countered. "You are currently with the Earth Alliance; what are your plans for contacting the Archangel?"

"I know Natarle is also on the Archangel. I want to see her, and see everyone else as well," Li Boyong said.

"Just that?"

"Of course, it's not that simple." Li Boyong smiled. "You should know that what I hate most is Blue Cosmos; how could I possibly work for them for free?"

After a pause, he said seriously, "You also know that this stupid war is an absurd conflict launched by Logos for their own interests, disregarding world stability. I want to resist, even overthrow them, so I hope to gain the Archangel's help."

"This... I need to consider it." Miriallia seemed hesitant. She didn't deny that what Li Boyong said had moved her.

But she was no longer the little girl she once was. She needed time to judge whether Li Boyong was telling the truth and wouldn't easily put the Archangel in danger.

"That's fine. You can stay with me for the time being. I will be taking action soon, and then you will know my true intentions." Li Boyong didn't force her, instead giving Miriallia time to judge. ===== CHAPTER 275 =====
