Chapter 1: Poor Little Sui Sui
Late spring March, all things revived.
Sui Sui dragged a thick, long branch, trudging forward.
The branch was about as thick as an adult's arm, six or seven chi long, longer than two Sui Sui put together.
Sui Sui was small and weak; she gritted her teeth, walked with stops, and finally dragged the branch back to the small courtyard at the village head before sunrise.
Just entered the courtyard, before she could call "aunt", she was struck on the head by Tian Cuihua, who had swept the courtyard full of anger, with a broom.
That blow came fast and fierce; Sui Sui was slapped to the edge of the chicken coop, her forehead hit the low stone wall, making a "dong" sound.
Pain struck instantly, vision darkened, her stomach churned with nausea, but Sui Sui gritted her teeth and told herself not to cry.
If she didn't cry, she might only get scolded; the aunt wouldn't be angry, so she wouldn't be beaten.
But if she cried, the aunt would get annoyed and might beat her to death!
But her vision was dark, her head dizzy; Sui Sui couldn't hear what the aunt was scolding, and she lost consciousness.
"Early morning, courtyard not swept, chickens not fed, water not fetched—what's the point of raising you?"
"Your mother is a slut, you are also a slut—can't do work, just know to go out and embarrass! Am I digging up your old Chen family's ancestral grave? Heaven wants to torment me like this!"
……
Tian Cuihua cursed while raising her dirty, broken broom and whipped Sui Sui's small body.
As for Sui Sui fainting?
Tian Cuihua thought, she just fainted—she's not dead—why bother?
Moreover, death is better—it saves grain!
Sui Sui's clothes were thin; the patches on her pants were sewn together, and they were short by a large section, revealing the inside—her scarred ankles.
At this moment, Sui Sui was faint but still conscious.
When the broom lashed, her body would instinctively shrink.
Tian Cuihua had beaten for half a day, exhausted, preparing to step forward and kick twice more, when she heard from inside the house her daughter Chen Yueyao calling, "Mother, mother!"
The voice sounded a bit urgent; Tian Cuihua's anger flared, hearing this, she turned and shouted at the house, "Keep calling, calling all morning?"
Though she said that, she turned and walked into the house, and before leaving, in a fit of venting, she heavily threw the broom onto Sui Sui's body.
Sui Sui's small body shrank slightly again.
Inside the house, Chen Yueyao, now somewhat excited, looked at the water in the wooden basin again and again, finally confirming something.
She was reborn!
Reborn to the most important day of her previous life!
In her previous life, today, Sui Sui's distant father in Jing Cheng sent people to fetch her!
After Sui Sui returned to Jing Cheng, life improved, and even these poor relatives got some of the glory.
Chen Yueyao also went to Jing Cheng and saw much of the world.
The more so, Chen Yueyao the more unwilling.
Why is Sui Sui a marquis's manor miss, while she is just a village girl?
Just because Sui Sui has a wanton mother?
Chen Yueyao already harbored resentment in her previous life; she didn't expect heaven to open its eyes, yet it let her be reborn to the most important day!
Chen Yueyao thought: "Marquis's manor miss, right?"
It's hers!
Anyway, the marquis hasn't seen Sui Sui; she's the same age as Sui Sui, so why can't she be the marquis's miss?
Furthermore, after the aunt died, it's their family raising Sui Sui; now asking for some repayment isn't too much, right?
Now it's early morning; about the time it takes to burn one incense stick, people from Jing Cheng will arrive.
Chen Yueyao needs to discuss with her family beforehand, work out a story, and most importantly, silence Sui Sui!
Only the dead can keep the secret forever!
Inside the house, Chen Yueyao and her mother were whispering; Sui Sui lay beside the chicken coop, in the chilly spring wind, and finally woke up.
Her head still hurt; she reached out and touched, getting a hand of blood.
Sui Sui belatedly felt the pain; tears uncontrollably fell, but she didn't dare make a sound, taking the bloody hand and wiping left and right.
Sui Sui told herself: cannot cry, even if crying, cannot make a sound.
Otherwise, she'll get beaten.
Moreover, it was just a bump—not painful.
Shen Shen struck her arm swollen; she blew on it, and soon it didn't hurt.
The day before that, Cousin cut her hair, pierced the scalp—she saw blood then—but she rubbed some plant ash, and by night it didn't hurt.
Before, it wasn't that she had never encountered bleeding; Sui Sui pursed her lips, told herself it was fine, and that it would heal soon.
After consoling herself for a while, the soothed Sui Sui struggled to stand, preparing to go to the stove to scoop some plant ash.
Before she could reach the gate, Tian Cuihua rushed out, roughly grabbed Sui Sui's shoulder, lifted her, quickly walked to the chicken coop, and, following the low entrance, shoved Sui Sui inside.
Sui Sui didn't dare make a sound the whole way.
Because she knows, resistance not only does no good, it will invite more beatings.
As long as she obeys, letting the aunt beat her, the cousins bully her, after they vent, she'll be fine.
Just taking a few hits, she'll console herself!
The chicken coop entrance is tiny; even though Sui Sui is frail, Tian Cuihua forcibly shoved her in; during the process, Sui Sui's head hit the stone wall again, her knee scraped the wall, making a "hiss-la" sound.
Sui Sui's pants, old beyond old, finally couldn't withstand such violence, and were slit open a long gap.
Hearing the sound, Tian Cuihua muttered viciously, "Why not just slash you to death, saving me the trouble."
After saying that, she picked up a stone slab from the side, blocked the chicken coop entrance, and didn't forget to threaten Sui Sui: "Lie still inside; dare to make a sound, and see if I don't break your leg!"
Sui Sui originally let out two light whines of pain, and hearing this, was frightened, clenched their teeth, and dared not make any sound.
But the head, already injured, was injured again; Sui Sui felt the head more dizzy and more nauseous.
After the Gate panel was blocked, only a sliver of light seeped into the chicken coop through a crack; it was pitch black, oppressive and cramped, and with each breath came a heavy stench.
Sui Sui carefully curled up a bit, trying to see how the leg was, when a crisp and Gentleness voice suddenly sounded at her ear.
【Growth Happiness System activated!】
【Let Le Le see, which little cutie needs companionship… huh?】
The Growth Happiness System was originally cheerfully reciting its activation line.
But after seeing the situation clearly, it was stunned.
Is this the little cutie that needs my companionship this time?
Looking at the data, it showed: Sui Sui, five years old.
Looking again at the thin, frail, injured little girl curled in the corner, with such a small frame—three years old would already be malnourished, right?
Is this height over three chi?
The Growth Happiness System, seeing this scene, felt its heart almost shattered!
It adjusted its clipping sound data, trying to maximize the clip, then lowered its voice, its tone full of coaxing.
【Sui Sui, mine is your good friend, Le Le.】
New book released.
It's the cute Sui Sui's story, seeking a wave of support~
