Chapter 128: Flame Breath Trait Emerges

~7 min read 1,278 words

Seeing Obito, who was clearly trying to comfort him yet had a face full of schadenfreude, Shisui felt a bit conflicted.

He wanted to say that it was a great comfort and he wouldn't need it next time, but he let it go.

Shisui decided to train a little longer, while Obito and Rin Nohara headed back together.

Although Obito and Rin Nohara weren't going the exact same way, there was still a fair distance they shared.

"Rin, how's your medical ninjutsu training going?" Obito asked with a smile on the way back.

"Pretty smoothly. I feel like I've learned a lot of useful new knowledge, and now I can continue with the most basic healing," Rin Nohara replied.

"If you ever get hurt in the future, Obito, make sure to come to me for treatment," Rin Nohara said, showing a gentle smile.

Gazing at Rin Nohara's smile, Obito was a little dazed; he seemed to see blooming flowers, then scratched his head and said with a grin:

"Hehe, then I'll be troubling you from now on, Rin."

"Treating you is no trouble at all, but Obito, you also need to be careful not to get hurt too often. Just because someone can treat you doesn't mean you shouldn't protect yourself," Rin Nohara said seriously, looking into Obito's eyes.

"Getting hurt really hurts."

"I'm Uchiha Obito, the strongest student in the fourth grade. It's not that easy for me to get hurt," Obito said, patting his chest in assurance.

"But Obito, you've never been first in the year in practical combat, so you can't really call yourself the strongest in the fourth grade, can you?" Rin Nohara reminded him.

"But during the summer training special, I already beat Gai, so it counts," Obito said without changing his expression.

"Hmm, when you put it that way, it does make sense," Rin Nohara thought for a moment and felt it wasn't just stubbornness.

"I hope you can keep it up, Obito. If you do, you'll definitely become an excellent ninja," Rin Nohara said, clenching her fists in encouragement.

Obito's face flushed slightly, and the fighting spirit in his heart had already exceeded its limits; he planned to train some more after getting home.

When they reached the point where they had to part ways, the two waved goodbye to each other.

"I hope I can be assigned to the same team as Rin after graduation," Uchiha Obito said with a smile as he walked down the street, conjuring up a wonderful illusion in his mind.

He and Rin trained together, carried out dangerous missions together; when Rin was in danger, he would rescue her like a hero, and if he accidentally got hurt, Rin would use medical ninjutsu to treat him.

The two helped each other to complete various high-difficulty missions, eventually becoming a legendary couple in the ninja world.

Although it was usually three people to a team, Obito didn't care who the remaining person would be, as long as it wasn't Kakashi.

He thought it couldn't possibly be Kakashi, because Kakashi had already graduated for several years and had long had his own teammates and teacher.

"Grandma, do you need help?" Obito suddenly noticed an old woman who seemed to have fallen, and he rushed straight over to ask.

"My legs aren't feeling so good. Young man, could you help me over to the side to rest a bit?" the old woman asked with a frown.

"Grandma, let me carry you to the hospital to get checked. It wouldn't be good if you hurt a bone or something," Obito said.

Elderly people's bodies are more fragile; this fall could easily injure bones or something.

"Don't worry, Grandma. I may be small, but I'm a ninja. It's no problem to carry you and three more people," Obito said confidently.

"A ninja, eh..." The old woman still looked hesitant, not wanting to trouble the young boy.

But under Obito's enthusiastic and smiling persuasion, the old woman finally agreed, and Obito directly carried her on his back and dashed off toward Konoha Hospital.

After sending the old woman to the hospital, Obito also asked for her home address and went to notify her family.

Only after informing the old woman's family did Obito continue walking toward home.

Obito hadn't gone far when he noticed an old man carefully descending some steps with a cane.

Without a second word, Obito ran up to support the old man and safely helped him down to the bottom of the steps.

"What a good child. Thank you," the old man said with a kind smile, praising him.

"It's nothing, just lending a hand," Obito said with a chuckle, waving his hand.

Soon after, Obito hadn't walked much further when he saw another elderly person looking after a child; the child's toy had gotten stuck in a tree.

Obito gathered chakra on his feet, leaped twice up into the tree, retrieved the toy, and returned it to its owner.

"Big brother is so amazing! Are you a ninja?" the child said excitedly.

"Not an official ninja yet, but soon," Obito replied with a simple smile.

Then Obito met an old man carrying a big bundle on the road. After helping the old man take the heavy load home, Obito realized that he had returned to the spot where he had parted from Nohara Rin.

By the time Obito got home, it was already late, and the sky had turned completely dark.

"I wanted to train a bit longer, but I'll practice for a while and then rest," Obito thought as he checked the time.

Although helping others had wasted a lot of time, Obito did not regret it. If he could go back to the moment he parted from Nohara Rin, he would still do the same.

Training a little less time wouldn't affect him much, but if he hadn't taken the old man to the hospital, something truly bad might have happened to him.

Then Obito went to the yard and began his breathing technique training.

"Heat, burning, flame..." Obito inhaled large amounts of oxygen while trying to perceive the essence of Flame Breathing.

But something Obito didn't expect happened. He suddenly felt a sensation he had never experienced before. His body became scorching hot, and the chakra meridian points through which the airflow passed grew warm.

On a whim, Obito gathered chakra in his palm and then performed nature transformation.

Whoosh! Whoosh!

Instantly, a fist-sized flame burst from his palm, and Obito could clearly feel the heat emanating from that flame.

"The conversion speed of the flame has increased," Obito said in surprise.

He couldn't see the specific chakra values like Muyue could, but Obito noticed that the speed of his nature transformation just now was different from normal.

Obito thought for a moment, resumed normal breathing, and stopped using the breathing technique. He gathered chakra again, and in the same amount of time, the flame on his palm was noticeably smaller.

"So eating spicy food helps that much with training Flame Breathing?" Obito said, excited and surprised.

This situation perfectly matched Muyue's description of Flame Breathing.

Obito wished he could go buy two chili peppers right now and eat them before training.

The spiciness at both ends was uncomfortable, but in order not to disappoint Nohara Rin and Muyue, and to become an excellent ninja, the brief pain was bearable.

The next day, Obito told Muyue the good news of his progress.

Muyue took a look with his appraisal skill, and was shocked to see that the proficiency had directly soared from sixteen points to twenty-one points, successfully surpassing Might Guy's nineteen points.
