Chapter 188: Teaching Thunder Breathing
Muyue's main body taught Shisui for two hours, then swapped with the shadow clone, the main body going to teach Kakashi's team and the clone teaching Shisui.
Although Shisui was the highest-potential gold mine, Muyue wouldn't show favoritism in teaching; he would distribute his attention evenly.
Returning to Kakashi and the others, Muyue first used the Appraisal Jutsu to check their stats. He found that Kakashi and Obito already had Yin Release proficiency, though Obito's was very low—only one point—and Might Guy didn't even have a single point yet.
Muyue wasn't surprised; it was within his expectations, after all, this was Might Guy, who, even with the Professor boost, couldn't learn the Shadow Clone Jutsu in a month.
With the upgraded Professor boost from the main body, Kakashi's Yin Release nature transformation proficiency rose rapidly. After two hours, his points jumped from three to ten.
Obito also went from one point to three points. As for Might Guy, he finally broke through zero and gained one point.
This made Muyue very relieved—being able to build proficiency meant there was hope of learning, even if it would be much slower.
In the afternoon, Muyue didn't have Might Guy continue training in nature transformation; instead, he had him train the Eight Gates.
Actually, for Might Guy at this stage, training the Eight Gates was the most important thing.
The reason the Rock Breathing's patterned state was so strong when applied to Might Guy was that he could train the Eight Gates to an extremely high level, generating plenty of chakra for the Rock Breathing to burn.
Haki, when not precisely controlled, was also a major consumer of chakra. Muyue could say that even if Might Guy learned Haki now, it wouldn't have much practical combat significance; without the Eight Gates, where would he get that much chakra to waste?
As for Kakashi and Obito, they continued Yin Release nature transformation training in the afternoon.
Nature transformation was simple to learn but hard to master. Muyue noticed that some chunin teachers had also mastered Yin Release nature transformation, but all were at the entry level, with low proficiency—basically just enough to learn some simple genjutsu.
Estimating based on Kakashi, who was progressing fastest, Muyue felt Kakashi could achieve entry-level Yin Release nature transformation in about seven days.
The proficiency needed to go from non-entry to entry was one hundred points. Although Kakashi could gain ten points in a single morning, nature transformation became harder to increase the further you went; it wasn't a fixed ten points every four hours of training.
For Obito, Muyue estimated about twenty days. For Might Guy, Muyue couldn't gauge—it might take several months.
Near the end of the afternoon training session, Muyue split off a shadow clone to head to the holiday special training grounds; he had previously promised Anko and the others he'd drop by when he had time.
His main body was indeed busy, unable to leave because he had to accelerate the students' learning speed with the Professor skill, but splitting off a shadow clone was no problem.
When Muyue arrived at the training grounds, it was almost time to disband, and the students were already resting.
Muyue swept his gaze and happened to spot Anko lying sprawled on the ground, so he walked over.
"How's the special training going?" Muyue walked over and said with a smile.
Anko, who had been resting with her eyes closed, snapped awake at the familiar, warm voice. Opening her eyes and confirming it was Muyue, she directly hugged his leg and complained:
"Muyue-sensei, the holiday special training can't go on without you. Without you, it's like a strawberry cake without strawberries—it's lost all meaning."
Muyue bent down, ruffled Anko's little head, pulled her off, and sat her down on the grass, asking with a smile:
"Did something happen? Why does the special training suddenly 'can't go on without me'?"
Anko's voice also attracted the attention of some nearby students. Since the participants in this special training weren't much different from last time, the students around gathered when they saw Muyue.
"Those teachers aren't nearly as good at teaching as you, Muyue-sensei. Even though they can't teach well, they pile on huge training tasks and force us to complete them without allowing breaks."
Anko poured out all the frustrations she had encountered these past days to Muyue.
"Yeah, even though there are several teachers, it's still not as good as having just you, Muyue-sensei." The nearby students nodded in agreement upon hearing Anko's complaints.
The students found it strange: the last special training was a great success, so why not follow the same approach this time, instead of changing it?
Anko's words opened the floodgates for the surrounding students. Many voiced their dissatisfaction, and Muyue listened with a smile.
How should he put it? He wasn't too surprised; these teachers' actions were within his expectations.
Last time, Muyue's success in the special training got him promoted to Tokubetsu Jonin by the Third Hokage, and the teachers selected for this special training were also the more capable ones from the Ninja Academy.
Individually, they might not dare to compare themselves to Muyue, but together as a group, it was different. They thought that combined, they could at least match Muyue.
Even if they couldn't become Tokubetsu Jonin like Muyue, getting a promotion and pay raise should be no problem.
But reality was harsh. Not to mention that Muyue possessed the Professor skill; even without it, his teaching ability would still crush those ninja teachers. He had hands-on training experience from numerous high-proficiency skills, and he had also systematically studied how to be a teacher in another world.
Whether in terms of ninja knowledge or professional teaching competence, those chunin teachers couldn't hold a candle to Muyue.
When they realized they might not achieve results, they started to panic. Several of them teaching together was still inferior to Muyue alone back then, and this was even with the foundation of Muyue's successful experience.
Increasing the training load became the natural course of action, after all, power couldn't possibly shrink from training.
As more students surrounded Muyue in a circle, even more students came over.
Originally came to watch the excitement, but seeing that Mu Yue had come, they had to have a good chat.
The more students gathered, the faster it went, until finally most of the students came over to Mu Yue's side.
"What are you all gathering together for? Go back to your own class." The chunin teacher also noticed the students' odd behavior and came over to scold them.
"Class is almost over anyway, let them rest a little freely." Mu Yue spoke up.
Only then did the chunin teacher notice Mu Yue sitting among the students; many students were standing, blocking the chunin teacher's view.
"Oh, it's Director Mu Yue. You're right, everyone, take a good rest." The chunin teacher said with a smile.
As a relatively ambitious teacher, he deeply admired Mu Yue—having been promoted rapidly in less than a year, not only rising in rank at the ninja academy but also advancing directly from chunin to special jonin.
Then Mu Yue continued chatting with the students; even after class ended, many students did not go home but kept talking with him.
"I won't be able to join the holiday special training this time, because I have other work to handle. As for the future, I don't know either—it depends on Lord Third Hokage's arrangements. Personally, I'd like to continue leading the training."
Mu Yue answered the students' questions one by one.
By the time Might Guy and the others graduate, Mu Yue probably won't be taking on interns for quite a while, after all Shisui will only be in his second year then—plenty of time.
"I'll go coordinate with the special training teachers and see if we can come up with a more reasonable training plan." Mu Yue said with a smile.
Last time the training ended, the students gave him a pleasant surprise; such a convenient thing to do, Mu Yue didn't mind.
"Teacher Mu Yue is the best!" Anko cheered. She decided that if the next special training teacher wasn't Mu Yue, she simply wouldn't come—non-fourth-year students had the option not to attend.
The next day.
In the morning, as usual, he taught Kakashi, Obito, and Might Guy the Yin Release nature transformation, while Shisui trained Armament Haki alone. In the afternoon, Mu Yue arranged for Kakashi to begin his Thunder Breathing training.
The reason he didn't teach it yesterday was that the apprenticeship return only happens once a day; to maximize the reward, he delayed it by a day.
This chapter is 2.4, there's more coming, but it might be a bit late.
