Chapter 251: Uchiha: From Warring States Rivals to Annihilation

~10 min read 1,894 words

"Material 1:"

"During the Warring States period, there were two powerful ninja clans: the Senju clan, which valued love, and the Uchiha clan, which valued power. The two clans fought to the death, seeing each other as enemies. As soon as they heard the other clan's surname, they would immediately attack."

"The Uchiha clan leader, Uchiha Madara, and the Senju clan leader, Senju Hashirama, shared a special friendship. Through several victories, Senju Hashirama ultimately moved Uchiha Madara, and the two clans reconciled and joined forces to establish Konoha."

"Senju Hashirama supported Uchiha Madara becoming Hokage, and Uchiha Madara himself also wanted to become Hokage. When the election for Hokage occurred, all the clans and residents of Konoha supported Senju Hashirama becoming Hokage, and ultimately Senju Hashirama became the Hokage."

""Based on the material content and what you have learned in history, analyze why Uchiha Madara ultimately lost the election and the reasons for Senju Hashirama's success." After reading, Mu Yue looked at all the students and asked."

"Even Shisui, who had already done the question, showed a thoughtful expression, because Mu Yue had not given him a high score."

"Obito scratched his head, feeling that this question was harder than any history question he had ever done, because the textbook barely covered Uchiha Madara at all; he only remembered that Madara was very bad, defected, and caused great destruction to Konoha."

""Is it because Uchiha Madara defected?" Obito suddenly thought to himself. A missing-nin cannot become Hokage; that's very reasonable."

"But Obito did not say this out loud, because he thought that perhaps the Hokage election came first."

""Because the Uchiha clan advocates power and has a bad reputation, everyone supported the Senju clan of love." Kakashi thought for a moment and replied."

"Not only during the Warring States period, but even now, the Uchiha in Konoha have roughly that image."

""Except for that guy Obito." Kakashi silently added in his heart. Obito truly is an anomaly among the Uchiha."

""What do you mean 'advocates power and has a bad reputation'? Kakashi, you're slandering me." Obito said indignantly."

""Is it possible that you're not a normal Uchiha? And I'm just answering the question." Kakashi said calmly."

""You can only say one part is correct; out of ten points, I can give you four." Mu Yue scored."

""Only four points..." Kakashi continued to think."

""Because Senju Hashirama's youth burned more fiercely than Uchiha Madara's!" After some thought, Might Guy said his answer."

""Zero point five." Mu Yue gave a point for the effort of thinking."

"Obito and Rin Nohara also gave their own answers, but none of their scores exceeded Kakashi's."

""Kakashi's answer is correct, but not complete. It is not only because Uchiha Madara and the Uchiha clan had a worse reputation, but also because the Senju clan and Senju Hashirama were the victors of the war."

""Uchiha Madara reconciled with the Senju clan after losing the war against them. In essence, the Uchiha clan had already been defeated, which is different from other ninja clans that voluntarily joined Konoha."

""One side is the victor, the other is the loser. Naturally, everyone is willing to vote for the victor with a good reputation. Even if Senju Hashirama wanted Uchiha Madara to become Hokage, his followers would not agree." Mu Yue gave the complete answer."

"In Mu Yue's view, this question was actually quite simple; it didn't even require much knowledge."

""Why is that? Didn't they reconcile and become comrades? Why do they still care about the previous victory and defeat?" Obito asked in confusion."

"He could understand that Senju Hashirama was more supported, but he didn't understand why everyone supported Hashirama entirely, even when Hashirama himself supported Madara."

""Even if Uchiha Madara regarded others as comrades, others might not regard Madara as a comrade. Moreover, this involves the interests of various clans." Mu Yue patiently answered Obito's question."

"Mu Yue liked Obito's kindness very much, but Obito should not think that others are as kind as he is."

"When it came to the interest impact on various clans from Hashirama becoming Hokage, Obito became even more confused. He could understand the words individually, but when combined, he couldn't understand."

"Mu Yue glanced around; only Kakashi and Shisui could barely keep up. Kakashi because he was more mature, and Shisui because, as an Uchiha, he related more deeply."

"Mu Yue didn't mind; to have such performance at this age was already good. He continued with the next question."

""After the death of the First Hokage, Senju Hashirama, his brother Senju Tobirama became the Second Hokage. To prevent another Uchiha Madara from appearing, he consolidated the Uchiha clan and created the Konoha Military Police Force, which was responsible for maintaining the village's public order. He handed full authority over the Konoha Military Police Force to the Uchiha clan, giving them the right to oversee public security."

"Not long after the Konoha Military Police Force was established, some Uchiha clan members attempted a rebellion to seize the Hokage position. Ultimately, they failed under the suppression of the Anbu. From then on, the Anbu began to monitor the Uchiha clan, and at the same time, the Uchiha clan's reputation grew increasingly worse, becoming disliked by many ninja clans and civilians."

""Using the above materials, analyze the impact of the Konoha Military Police Force on the Uchiha clan, and the reasons why the Uchiha are disliked by the general public."

"Worried that someone might not understand the Anbu and the Konoha Military Police Force, Mu Yue specially explained the functions of these two departments."

""So people don't like the Uchiha? I didn't feel that at all." Obito scratched his head and asked in confusion."

"He felt that he was quite popular. The old men and old women were very enthusiastic towards him, always trying to give him things to eat."

""Because everyone does not equally hate every Uchiha. Obito, your kindness is loved by the villagers." Mu Yue said with a smile."

""That's right. Obito is very popular among the old ladies. It feels like everyone really likes Obito." Rin Nohara said with an agreeing expression."

"Suddenly receiving praise from two people he cared about, Obito's face flushed slightly and he chuckled, "It's because everyone is too enthusiastic.""

"Shisui felt deeply about this. Obito was indeed the only Uchiha he had seen who was popular among the villagers. In this regard, Shisui admitted that he was inferior to Obito."

Kakashi lowered his head and thought for a moment, then answered:

"The Konoha Police Force gave the Uchiha immense power, which made them arrogant. They wanted even more power, so they rebelled. The Uchiha clan's reputation declined because everyone disliked them for the rebellion, and the Uchiha with bad personalities working in public safety jobs probably further stirred up discontent among the residents."

"Shisui, do you have any new thoughts?" Mu Yue didn't rush to grade Kakashi; instead, he turned to Shisui and asked.

"More or less the same as Kakashi, but I have a different view on the rebellion. I think the rebellion was related to Uchiha Madara's defection earlier. After all, Madara was once the clan head of the Uchiha, and he could influence many people." Shisui thought for a moment and answered.

Mu Yue nodded, then looked at the other students.

"I feel like the Konoha Police Force made the clan members have even less contact with outsiders. Before, there was an Uchiha named Yashiro who said I should enter the Police Force directly after graduation. As for why we're disliked, I can't figure it out either." Obito answered.

"Obito, you did well this time." Mu Yue nodded with a smile.

Whether by chance or not, Obito really had hit on a key point this time.

Obito immediately smiled, feeling that there was still hope for his theoretical skills.

After hearing all the students' answers, Mu Yue revealed the correct answer. This question was far harder than the last one; it could be said to be the core issue of the Uchiha clan.

"Because of the power brought by the Konoha Police Force, the Uchiha became arrogant. At the same time, with a large number of clan members joining the Police Force, the Uchiha clan became even more isolated, greatly reducing communication with outsiders. One single clan controlling an entire department aroused the wariness and suspicion of other clans and residents.

"A more isolated Uchiha would make clan members even more proud and arrogant. Managing public security in that state would breed more trouble, hence more and more negative news about the Uchiha. And the rebellion also made Konoha's higher-ups more vigilant toward the Uchiha. Ultimately, the conflict between the Uchiha and Konoha expanded, and their reputation continued to worsen."

In fact, there were some things Mu Yue didn't mention yet, such as how assigning so many Uchiha to the Police Force — a more comfortable environment — could reduce the awakening of the Sharingan and the Mangekyō Sharingan, thus weakening the Uchiha clan's overall strength.

But that was a bit too conspiratorial; he had to take it step by step.

Mu Yue truly felt that Tobirama was a genius. Apart from being inferior to Hashirama in strength, he had maxed out every other aspect. With just the Konoha Police Force, he made the Uchiha cheerfully "take their lunch boxes" — meaning die contentedly.

Shisui grew more and more alarmed as he listened. After careful thought, he realized that everything Mu Yue said matched perfectly.

Even the current Uchiha clan head, Fugaku Uchiha, had personally come to him, saying he could use his authority to transfer Shisui into the Police Force early for training.

This Konoha Police Force, which the Uchiha took pride in, had actually brought so many troubles upon the Uchiha clan. Shisui truly felt that the more he thought about it, the more terrifying it was.

"Did the Second Hokage foresee this result from the very beginning, or was it the Uchiha's own fault?" Shisui couldn't help but wonder.

"So complicated… So you usually do questions this hard, Shisui?" Obito sighed.

"Huh? Don't you do questions like this?" Shisui was stunned, then asked. He had thought Obito always did the same kind of questions.

"Of course not." Obito replied, then handed his test paper to Shisui for him to see.

Looking at the questions on Obito's test paper, Shisui felt puzzled. Weren't these just the exam questions from the Ninja Academy? Such questions were a piece of cake.

"Even though it's the same training, I set questions according to your different levels." Mu Yue explained.

His teaching was tailored to each individual; even the speed of the shadow clones chasing Obito and Shisui was different.

Of course, after Obito graduated, his questions would become as hard as Shisui's, because by then he needed to have grown.

Mu Yue lectured for an hour and a half in total, then let the students rest for half an hour before starting the afternoon training.

This chapter is 3k words. Originally I planned to just write a paragraph about "Mu Yue explaining questions to improve their knowledge," but in the end I wrote it in detail. I think this kind of transformation is important, otherwise the character design would feel disjointed.

Good night, everyone. I hope to fall asleep early tonight — my head is starting to hurt.
