Chapter 289: Tsunade Understands Everything

~7 min read 1,394 words

The Ninja Academy Teacher: I Get Stronger Just by Teaching — Volume 207, Chapter 207 — Tsunade, Who Understood Everything, and Muyue's Sixth Day of Acquaintance. Today, as usual, Tsunade woke up at noon.

After eating the meal Shizune had prepared for her, Tsunade subconsciously looked at the clock. The hour hand was pointing at twelve, and the minute hand was already almost halfway.

"Since yesterday was busy, maybe he'll come at twelve again today, just like at the very beginning," Tsunade thought.

After finishing her meal, Tsunade sat down on the wooden veranda under the eaves. She occasionally glanced toward the yard entrance to see if there was any trace of a golden figure.

"What a slacker. You can't put off studying—the longer you delay, the more it becomes a habit." Tsunade thought this was the main reason Muyue's arrival time kept getting pushed back.

"Lady Tsunade, I think you have a point. Why don't you start getting up in the morning and lead by example to motivate Teacher Muyue?" Shizune tried to correct Tsunade's irregular schedule.

"I don't need to study anymore, so sleeping a bit longer is fine." Tsunade indicated that waking up early was impossible.

Not knowing whether he was still busy or didn't plan to study for long, Tsunade still hadn't seen Muyue's figure by two in the afternoon.

"Could it be that yesterday's business isn't finished yet?" Tsunade thought of one possibility.

That was a very normal and reasonable thing, because that's how most adults' worlds are.

The thought that today she could only eat restaurant food or Shizune's cooking made Tsunade sigh inwardly.

As her mood soured, Tsunade suddenly noticed that the once bright and sunny sky had turned gloomy and oppressive, covered with dark clouds.

Drop by drop, raindrops as big as beans kept falling, and their pace grew faster and faster.

Along with the downpour came flashes of lightning, roars of thunder, and a howling gale.

"What lousy weather. It was fine just a moment ago." Tsunade griped as she led Shizune inside the house.

Though the wind was howling outside and lightning rumbled endlessly, not even nine-year-old Shizune was afraid of thunder, let alone the battle-hardened Tsunade. The two of them quietly did their own things inside the house.

Shizune browsed materials on medical ninjutsu, while the bored Tsunade studied how to improve the Yin Seal.

Tsunade was someone who couldn't stay idle for long. After an hour of research, she couldn't resist teasing Shizune a couple of times, which made her feel a bit better.

Tsunade subconsciously checked the clock—it was already past three in the afternoon.

"He probably still hasn't finished yesterday's business, and with this heavy rain, he probably won't come today," Tsunade reasoned simply.

If it were her, in such heavy rain she wouldn't want to do anything but lie around.

Even though being a ninja meant moving in the rain was no big deal, Tsunade felt that the atmosphere during a heavy downpour wasn't suitable for work, only for lying down or having fun.

Thinking this, Tsunade gradually calmed down. It was only about missing out on food so delicious it felt like being under a genjutsu—nothing earth-shattering.

"Shizune, I have an important mission for you." Tsunade looked at Shizune with a serious expression.

Having never seen Tsunade make such an earnest face, Shizune instantly turned serious as well and asked cautiously:

"Lady Tsunade, please speak! I will definitely complete the mission!"

"Learn all of Muyue's cooking—be able to make it exactly the same." Tsunade said this with great solemnity.

"I must refuse."

"Shizune, didn't you just say you'd definitely complete the mission?"

"This probably isn't an important mission, is it? Besides, Teacher Muyue might not teach me his cooking, and even if he does, I might not be able to learn it."

Shizune didn't think Muyue's cooking was something you could learn just like that, and she wasn't particularly talented in that area.

"How do you know if you don't try? Young people need to be bold and take initiative. Just ask him directly." Tsunade patted Shizune on the shoulder, looking at her as if she had great faith in her.

"Lady Tsunade, I'm here. May I come in?" Just as Tsunade and Shizune were chatting, Muyue's voice came from inside the house.

Shizune looked at Tsunade. She really wanted to say "come in," but strictly speaking, this wasn't her home—it was Tsunade's—so Shizune stayed silent.

"Ahem, come in." Tsunade suppressed the slightly surprised look on her face and then said with a composed demeanor.

Tsunade watched Muyue walk in from the doorway. Although he had brought an umbrella, against such a downpour one umbrella clearly couldn't fully protect him. Muyue's pant legs and back were wet with rain, and his hair was a little damp.

"Sorry to intrude." Muyue put his umbrella outside, wrung the water from his clothes, changed his shoes, and stepped into Tsunade's home as he spoke.

"Teacher Muyue, let me help you dry off." Shizune brought out a dry towel and said to Muyue.

"Then I'll trouble you, Shizune." Muyue smiled and crouched down.

He didn't refuse Shizune's kindness. After all, he had given her pastries and always cooked a portion for her too—he had to give her a chance to repay him by playing her part.

"Is the thing you mentioned yesterday taken care of?" Tsunade asked with arms crossed, her ample bosom fully displayed.

"Mm." Mu Yue nodded affirmatively.

"Why come over in such heavy rain?" Tsunade continued.

"After all, I wasted a lot of time yesterday because I couldn't study with you, Lady Tsunade, due to trivial matters. Not to mention rain, even if it were raining shuriken, I would still come." Mu Yue said jokingly.

Hearing Mu Yue's words, Tsunade laughed, "If it really rained shuriken, you wouldn't get far before being drenched to death, right?"

Although ninja are strong, if shuriken fall like rain continuously, they can only defend with defensive ninjutsu; their bodies simply cannot withstand it.

"That's why I need to learn medical ninjutsu from you, Lady Tsunade. I could treat myself while running; maybe it would really work." Mu Yue stood up after Shizune finished wiping and said.

"Today, I'll be studying for two hours as well." Mu Yue took out 200,000 ryo and handed it to Tsunade.

"Why not study longer? It's raining today, and I don't feel like going out. We can extend the time a bit." Tsunade thought for a moment and asked.

This was her way of making a small compensation to Mu Yue, since she had been frequently and groundlessly speculating about Mu Yue over the past couple of days.

"Because I'm almost out of money." Mu Yue said bluntly.

"I'm a teacher at the Ninja Academy, and I basically don't take missions outside the school, so I don't have much money on me right now. After today, I won't be able to come study with you, Lady Tsunade, for a long time. I'll have to wait until the school pays me a month after the term starts."

Tsunade suddenly understood everything.

Why Mu Yue had come so early the first two days and studied for six hours, and then later came later and studied for shorter periods.

The reason was money. The price Mu Yue offered her was 100,000 ryo per hour, which was enough to issue a B-rank mission.

She didn't know Mu Yue's exact strength, but if Mu Yue worked at the Ninja Academy, no matter how strong she was, she couldn't earn much money, because the Ninja Academy doesn't pay based on strength, but on position and performance.

Tsunade felt a little guilty. She really hadn't expected that the change in Mu Yue's study pattern was due to money, since she herself had never cared about money, even if she lost from a young age and kept happily throwing money away at the casino.

"After today, I'll have to wait a month to come study again. That means I'll have to go a whole month without eating that kind of cooking!" Tsunade had realized a very serious problem.

She scratched her hair. It's easy to go from frugal to lavish, but hard to go from lavish to frugal. Having to go a month without Mu Yue's cooking because of such a trivial matter was too painful.
