Chapter 293: Two and a Half Months of Progress
After dealing with war-related matters, Sarutobi Hiruzen seriously considered Muyue's medical specialty student plan, found it feasible, and dispatched ninja to summon Muyue and Tsunade together to the Hokage's office.
The reason he called Tsunade along was that she was very knowledgeable about medical ninjutsu and could offer advice on specific training details.
Another reason was that Sarutobi Hiruzen hoped to use this to make Tsunade understand his thoughts—that his rejection of her ideas was not due to heartlessness, but because her proposals lacked sufficient consideration.
Muyue and Tsunade met on the way.
"Lady Tsunade." Muyue greeted first.
"Are you heading to the Hokage building too?" Tsunade glanced at the nearby Hokage building and asked.
After the Second Shinobi World War, Tsunade no longer accepted combat-related missions, so she rarely went to the Hokage's office. Running into Muyue, who had proposed the medical specialty student plan, she vaguely guessed why Sarutobi Hiruzen had called her to the office.
"Yes. You too, Lady Tsunade?" Muyue nodded with a smile.
"Mm. It should be related to that medical specialty student plan you proposed earlier." Tsunade stated her guess.
"By the way, Muyue, how did you come up with this method?"
As she spoke, Tsunade looked at Muyue. She felt this approach was really good. If implemented, the growth of medical ninja would be much more stable than at present, and it would be easier to discover ninja with talent in medical ninjutsu.
"How to put it? Maybe because I'm a teacher at the Ninja Academy, so I tend to think from the academy's perspective." Muyue thought for a moment and replied.
"I think it's because you personally think deeply about this area. Otherwise, why haven't other Ninja Academy teachers proposed this idea?" Tsunade smiled and praised Muyue.
Since Tobirama Senju founded the Ninja Academy, it had basically never changed, always following the same model.
Muyue smiled modestly, thinking to himself that Tsunade really cared about this. It was the first time he had seen Tsunade praise him so seriously.
Muyue continued the conversation, talking about some of his ideas for the Ninja Academy.
For example, his concepts of a Ninja Middle School and a Ninja University. The middle school would teach more ninjutsu knowledge and taijutsu on the foundation of elementary school, while the university would subdivide specialties and allow deep study in one field. Those who couldn't pass the university entrance exam could directly graduate and become ninja, and university students could be treated as ninja to accept missions.
Tsunade's look at Muyue became a little strange. She felt she saw the shadow of her great-uncle, the Second Hokage Tobirama Senju, in Muyue.
Muyue's Ninja University was already completely different from the current Ninja Academy. This level of innovation could only be described as bold.
Talking as they walked, they soon reached the door of the Hokage's office. Just as Muyue was about to knock, Tsunade pushed the door open and walked in, so Muyue followed.
"Lord Third Hokage." Muyue greeted.
Tsunade was not so polite. She directly said, "If you have something to say, say it quickly."
Faced with such a Tsunade, Sarutobi Hiruzen was not annoyed. He chuckled, took the pipe out of his mouth, and replied:
"I think Muyue's medical specialty student idea is very good, and since you are the most skilled in medical ninjutsu, you can play a role in the specific training."
"Muyue, elaborate on your medical specialty student plan."
Muyue thought for a moment and said, "First, the scope of recruitment for specialty students. I think it's best to recruit from second-year or third-year students. At this stage, they have already built a foundation."
The Ninja Academy had quite a number of civilian ninja. Before entering the academy, they knew nothing, so Muyue was not planning to set up specialty classes in the first year; at least second year.
Actually, he leaned more toward third year, but since it was wartime and students graduated early, third year was a bit late. Under a normal six-year system, third year would be perfect.
"Additionally, the graduation exam for specialty students can be changed to content related to medical ninjutsu." Muyue continued.
During the jonin meeting, it had indeed been a flash of inspiration, but after returning, he had thought it through carefully and worked out all the details.
Sarutobi Hiruzen listened to Muyue's words and nodded, very satisfied with Muyue's attitude. This was clearly not a casual remark but something well-considered.
"Then leave this matter to you and Tsunade. When the plan is fully developed, submit it to me for approval." Sarutobi Hiruzen let out a faint puff of white smoke and said.
Neither Muyue nor Tsunade objected. If it were something else, Tsunade might not be willing to do it, but this she was indeed willing to work on.
"From now on, if you don't understand anything about training medical ninja, just ask me directly. Writing the plan is your job." Tsunade patted Muyue on the shoulder with one hand and gave a thumbs-up with the other.
"At least don't say that in the Hokage's office." Sarutobi Hiruzen shook his head helplessly.
"Otherwise? You want me to write it? Would you approve it?" Tsunade shot back bluntly.
Sarutobi Hiruzen showed a helpless smile. Was it his fault that he didn't approve? It was just that Tsunade's ideas were too detached from reality.
Muyue gladly took on the task. His Shadow Clone could handle such a small matter beautifully.
However, this matter had little impact on Konoha as a whole, but it did have some effect on the Ninja Academy. It was unrealistic to set it up directly in the new semester. Muyue thought implementing it by the next semester would already be fast.
Several disciples had graduated, but Muyue was still busy this semester, with every day fully arranged—his own affairs and his disciples' affairs.
After all, his disciples had only graduated, not completely left Konoha; Obito and the others would come to find Muyue whenever they had time.
Under such busyness, time passed quickly. The basic breathing method was much simpler; Nohara Rin reached half progress in two and a half months, and could concentrate her breathing to enhance her physical abilities.
During this period, Might Guy successfully trained the Eight Gates to the point of opening the third gate, and began the constant practice of Rock Breathing.
Obito's constant practice of Flame Breathing reached a new stage; what he needed to do now was maintain Flame Breathing continuously for twenty-four hours.
Although Kakashi still hadn't solved the reaction problem, he improved his Thunderclap Flash and developed Half Flash. It was a technique he had figured out after a long time; it had explosive power but didn't exceed his reaction speed. It was slower than Flash but had greater power.
Shisui redeveloped his existing Fire Release techniques to make them more suitable for himself.
During these two and a half months, with Tsunade's help, Muyue mastered more Medical Ninjutsu knowledge. Through classes, he unlocked many ninjutsu of various natures, and made progress on the path to addressing his weaknesses.
Approaching July, Muyue had one more thing on his plate: he was selected as an examiner for the Chunin Exam.
