Chapter 479: Training Gains
As the powerful force within Might Guy erupted, a massive whirlwind appeared out of nowhere, gradually forming a thick green dragon.
Whoosh, whoosh, whoosh!!
For a moment, the wind howled fiercely, as if even the air was torn apart by this power. The storm dragon's immense cutting force instantly shredded all the trees around Might Guy, filling the air with flying wood chips and yellow sand.
"Trying to use my own technique against me? You're still a little green."
"Leaf Dragon God!"
Seeing this, Teacher Chen immediately gathered a large amount of chakra and used the Leaf Dragon God as well.
His not-so-tall body erupted with terrifying power, and the wind blades generated by his high-speed spin destroyed everything around him.
Accompanied by the crashing of trees and the howling of the hurricane, an even larger bluish-green dragon appeared.
Watching the two dragons rampaging through the forest, Ebisu and Hayate Gekko instinctively stepped back a few paces.
Even though they had witnessed Might Guy growing stronger step by step up to now, seeing such an extravagant battle scene, they still found it hard to imagine that one of the ninjas fighting was their peer.
As time passed, the gap between them did not shrink but instead grew larger. Back in the ninja academy, at worst they just couldn't beat Might Guy; now even the aftershocks of the battle could injure them.
Rumble!!
The two bluish-green dragons collided, their fierce sharpness clashing with extreme violence. The ground could not withstand this terrifying power, and explosions sounded one after another, leaving the surface covered in cutting marks.
Might Guy exerted all his strength, unleashing his full power, trying to overpower Teacher Chen with absolute force.
But Teacher Chen, as the ninja known as Konoha's strongest in taijutsu, had strength that was no mere boast. Even with Might Guy going all out, he couldn't break through by pure power.
Moreover, Teacher Chen was the creator of the Leaf Dragon God, and his understanding of it far surpassed Might Guy's.
Although it was a huge green dragon, Teacher Chen used it with incredible agility, giving Might Guy a real eye-opener.
Bang!!
Teacher Chen seized the perfect moment and struck directly at the core of Might Guy's Leaf Dragon God. Under the immense impact, Might Guy couldn't maintain the Leaf Dragon God and was sent flying backward.
Even though Might Guy was in the Stone Breathing Chakra Mode and had used chakra to defend against the attack, Teacher Chen's swift assault still left him with many injuries.
"Since the Leaf Dragon God won't work, I'll have to use Teacher Mugetsu's taijutsu instead." Might Guy decided to use the Golden Horizon.
If possible, he would rather defeat Teacher Chen using the taijutsu Teacher Chen had taught him, as a way to present the results of Teacher Chen's two years of instruction.
But Might Guy wasn't fixated on only using Teacher Chen's taijutsu to fight him; he preferred to give his all in battle.
"Golden Horizon!"
Might Guy pushed his breathing to the limit, enhancing his strength as much as possible, then poured all his power into his index and middle fingers, and finally turned into a green light charging forward at breakneck speed.
"So that's the move—it really does surpass the Leaf Dragon God as a taijutsu technique." Noticing Might Guy's movements, Teacher Chen immediately became alert.
As Might Guy's instructor, he was well aware of all the taijutsu Might Guy had mastered.
The Golden Horizon was Might Guy's strongest taijutsu and, in Teacher Chen's opinion, the strongest taijutsu in all of Konoha.
Based on his knowledge of Konoha's taijutsu, no technique in the entire village could surpass the Golden Horizon.
The power of the Golden Horizon was tremendous, and with the young and vigorous Might Guy executing it, Teacher Chen's first thought wasn't how to block it but how to dodge.
Decades of experience quickly led Teacher Chen to a countermeasure. Under his control, the dragon, constantly emitting fierce winds, advanced toward Might Guy, seemingly intending a head-on clash to determine who was stronger.
A glint of excitement flashed in Might Guy's eyes, and his smile grew wider.
In the midst of his charge, an excited Might Guy used a drawing-the-sword motion with his left hand to guide his right hand in a smooth slashing cut forward, extending straight until it formed a thin line parallel to the ground, and then he swiftly swung his fingers at the green dragon before him.
But at this critical moment, Teacher Chen suddenly changed his technique.
The green dragon vanished, and all the powerful winds surrounding Teacher Chen rushed outward, causing Might Guy's movements to veer slightly.
Then, without a moment's hesitation, Teacher Chen bent down and rolled to the left.
Teacher Chen had studied the Golden Horizon before. Although this technique was incredibly powerful, it didn't have a large attack range like the Leaf Dragon God.
So Teacher Chen first feigned a head-on clash to lull Might Guy, then used the power of the Leaf Dragon God to partially obstruct Might Guy's attack, and finally completed his dodge with a surprise move.
A trace of surprise flashed across Might Guy's face as his attack missed; he hadn't expected Teacher Chen to avoid a direct confrontation and instead dodge.
Teacher Chen didn't give Might Guy any time to reflect and immediately launched a spinning kick, sending Might Guy staggering back several meters.
Then Teacher Chen pressed his advantage, rapidly throwing punches at Might Guy, his attacks fierce as a violent storm—even Might Guy found it hard to withstand.
After that, Might Guy was forced to switch from offense to defense and had no strength left to counterattack.
He had opened four Gates, entered Rock Breathing Chakra Mode, and used ultra-high-level taijutsu like the Konoha Dragon God and Golden Horizon; Might Guy's stamina and chakra were severely depleted.
"Teacher Chen wins." In the end, Ebisu announced Might Guy's defeat.
"Even though Guy is strong, it's still really hard to beat Teacher Chen," Shiranui Genma remarked.
In truth, Shiranui Genma could no longer fully follow the battle between Might Guy and Teacher Chen; he could only judge their strength by the final outcome.
"Your foundations are solid, but you still need to accumulate more combat experience and practice more taijutsu techniques." Teacher Chen helped Might Guy up and said.
By the standards of an ordinary eleven-year-old shinobi, Might Guy's combat experience and various taijutsu skills were already top-tier, not weaknesses.
But compared to Might Guy's physique and chakra, his combat experience and taijutsu techniques fell far short.
"Today, run five hundred more laps around Konoha!" Might Guy nodded in acceptance and chose to add extra training for himself.
Might Guy is not one to make excuses for himself—if he loses, he loses. What he needs to do is keep getting stronger and then win.
Name: Might Guy
Life Mission: Walk the path to becoming the strongest in taijutsu
Main Objective: Become a top-tier powerhouse in the ninja world renowned for taijutsu, both in strength and fame, so that all shinobi know that even those unskilled in ninjutsu can become strong.
Mission Progress: 2/9. When Mu Yue regularly checked his disciples' life mission progress, he discovered that Might Guy's life mission was nearing a settlement node; only the final 0.1% was needed to unlock the progress reward.
Mu Yue closed the panel and headed to the training ground to begin the day's Anbu instruction.
Missing 0.1% didn't require going out on training missions; Might Guy would raise it on his own after cultivating for a while.
For the new week, Mu Yue slightly adjusted the curriculum—Monday and Thursday were changed to training in nature transformation and ninjutsu, while the other times remained for training the Dark Breathing Method.
Mu Yue brought out the five-element ninjutsu he had developed and began teaching them.
However, he did not directly take out B-rank ninjutsu; instead, he first taught them C-rank five-element techniques.
B-rank ninjutsu are already considered high-level ninjutsu in Konoha's ranking system, and learning them is not easy.
To accommodate the majority, Mu Yue started with C-rank ninjutsu, so that later learning the upgraded B-rank versions would go quickly.
Completed one intermediate teaching session.
Rating: S
Rewards obtained: Chakra Nature Transformation Understanding boosted, Lightning Nature Transformation 25, Earth Nature Transformation 24, Water Nature Transformation 15, Fire Nature Transformation 9, Great Fireball Technique 35…
After completing a day's teaching, the panel issued the rewards right on time.
Mu Yue opened his own stats panel and took a look—Ice Release and Wood Release had each risen by over twenty points of proficiency.
Skills: Ice Release (Proficient: 1740/3000), Wood Release (Proficient: 1042/3000)
Because he frequently used Ice Release ninjutsu on the Kirigakure battlefield, his Ice Release proficiency had increased considerably; as for Wood Release, it was rarely used—aside from a sharp increase to the Proficient level of 1000 points when he used nature transformation experience scrolls, it had only increased by forty-two points afterward.
Mu Yue made a rough estimate: with the rewards from teaching plus the eventual final training boost, raising both Ice Release and Wood Release to Mastery level shouldn't be a big problem; the proficiency just wouldn't be very high.
After finishing, Mu Yue went to Tsunade's house to cook.
"Mu Yue-sensei, Lady Tsunade, I've successfully been promoted to jonin!" Nohara Rin walked into Tsunade's house with a beaming smile and told them the good news.
Nohara Rin was very grateful to Mu Yue and Tsunade; if they hadn't helped her with special training together, she would have found it hard to get promoted in such a short time.
"That's good. Shizune, take note—you and Rin are of the same year, aren't you? I'm not asking much of you; just become a jonin before the end of this year." Tsunade nodded in response, then turned to Shizune and said.
Shizune was a little surprised—Tsunade caring about her shinobi rank? So Tsunade did care about her after all.
Shizune felt a warm glow in her heart, thinking that although she wasn't strong, she must work hard to become a jonin as soon as possible.
"A jonin can earn mission commissions that a chunin can't compare to. It's been ages since I gambled to my heart's content."
Hearing Tsunade's words, Shizune's warm feelings instantly froze, and she looked at Tsunade speechlessly.
"Rin, this is your jonin gift." Mu Yue found an opportunity to slip out, then took out the egg and handed it to Nohara Rin.
This last Pokémon egg was the one drawn from Obito's jonin promotion reward.
Nohara Rin carefully took the large egg and thanked Muyue with a sincere expression.
The reason she worked so hard was partly to become stronger and play a larger role in battle, and partly because she was looking forward to her jonin gift.
After all, who could refuse a cute ninja beast? Although slugs are useful, calling them cute is a bit of a stretch.
