Chapter 60: Learning Sealing Jutsu

~7 min read 1,339 words

After finishing training his disciples on Sunday afternoon, Muyue went to the main district, not returning home but going directly to Minato's house.

While eating at Muyue's place last night, Kushina and Minato had told Muyue that they had practiced the braised pork belly enough and planned to officially make it tomorrow afternoon, and Muyue could come over to watch if he was free.

When Muyue arrived, the two had just finished boiling the pork belly and were about to color it with soy sauce.

As Muyue was about to step forward to help, Kushina stopped him.

"Muyue, just watch. If there's anything wrong with the steps, you can speak up, but no need to help," Kushina said.

Feeling embarrassed about eating dinner at Muyue's place every night, Kushina didn't want to let him help.

Minato brought a fruit platter and poured Muyue a glass of water, smiling gently:

"Muyue, you don't need to help today. Just be our supervisor."

Minato and Kushina had the same thought—they felt this time they should do it themselves.

"Then I'll get to be lazy," Muyue said with a smile.

"You can poke some small holes in the pork skin with a skewer before pouring the soy sauce. That will make the braised pork belly more flavorful, and it will also turn out fluffier when fried later," Muyue reminded them.

Only then did Kushina and Minato realize they had forgotten that small detail.

With Muyue's reminders, Kushina and Minato completed each step methodically: frying, slicing, preparing the seasoning sauce, and steaming...

By the time they finished, it was already dark outside.

"This braised pork belly is delicious, but it's really troublesome to make. Muyue, you must be very hungry by now," Kushina asked.

Compared to the home-cooked dishes she usually made, the braised pork belly was much more troublesome. Even though it was just one dish, it required three steps: boiling, frying, and steaming.

"Not really, after all, I was just watching on the side," Muyue replied.

While they were talking, Minato brought the finished braised pork belly to the table.

"Now, let's have Teacher Muyue give us a score," Minato joked.

"You've been busy for so long, why not taste the fruits of your labor first?" Muyue didn't rush to taste it but chose to let Minato and Kushina eat first.

"Then let's eat together." Already very hungry, Kushina decided not to bother with unnecessary formalities.

The three quickly served rice, said "let's eat," and dug in.

"That's it! That's the feeling of rich but not greasy!" Picking up a slice of meat and putting it in her mouth, then using chopsticks to take a bite of rice, Kushina's face lit up with excitement and a full sense of accomplishment.

She felt her time hadn't been wasted; she had successfully learned a very tasty dish.

Although she felt Muyue's version still tasted better, Kushina thought there was no one in this world who cooked better than Muyue, so being a bit worse than the world's best was only natural.

"When Jiraiya-sensei comes back, I have to make this for him to try," Minato said while eating.

Minato was also very satisfied with this plate of braised pork belly, so he wanted to share it with Jiraiya.

"Mm, it has a high degree of completion and no major flaws." After tasting it, Muyue also gave praise.

It wasn't entirely just to build goodwill; after all, this dish was originally an easy home-cooked meal, and with his guidance, the result naturally wouldn't be bad.

However, an awkward scene soon appeared: the braised pork belly was quickly finished, and the three of them stared at each other blankly.

"Sorry, I forgot to make other dishes," Minato realized, looking at the now-empty plate.

"We were too focused and completely forgot," Kushina said with an embarrassed smile.

"I'll stir-fry a couple of dishes," Muyue said as he stood up.

"That's not right, you're a guest. How can we let a guest cook?" Kushina was a bit tempted but felt it wasn't proper.

"Then do you want me to go home, cook, and bring it over?" Muyue asked with a smile.

"I'll wash the vegetables," Minato said quietly as he stood up.

Kushina thought about the taste of Muyue's cooking and finally couldn't help nodding.

"Muyue, aren't you interested in sealing techniques? What sealing techniques have you been learning recently? I can teach you some sealing technique tips," Kushina, who was sitting idly at the dining table, couldn't help asking.

Feeling guilty about freeloading dinner at his place, Kushina wanted to repay Muyue.

"I'm still reading various theoretical books. Any recommended sealing techniques? Preferably ones available in the library?" Muyue thought for a moment and said.

"If you haven't started learning yet, then how about I teach you a basic sealing technique from our Uzumaki clan? It can also test your talent for sealing techniques."

"If you learn it within a day, you're a sealing technique genius; within a week, you have talent; but if it takes more than a month, then it's not really recommended to waste time on sealing techniques." Kushina said.

"Then Kushina, how long did it take you back then?" Muyue asked while putting a pot on the stove to heat oil.

"One day." Kushina replied with a proud look, she had been waiting for Muyue to ask.

"Then aren't you a sealing technique genius?" Muyue praised.

"Just average, I just learned most of the Uzumaki clan's sealing techniques." Kushina said "average" with her mouth, but the smile at the corner of her mouth was uncontrollable.

After eating, Kushina gave Muyue a scroll, then went to wash the dishes, and Minato explained it to Muyue.

Muyue listened very attentively, with unprecedented seriousness.

"This sealing technique is called One-Finger Quick Seal. It rapidly creates a seal that blocks chakra, but its binding strength is not great, easy to break, and has little practical combat use. It's generally only used for beginner training." Minato explained.

Not sure if it was because Minato's sealing technique level was high and he taught well, or Muyue had a talent for sealing techniques, he felt that this One-Finger Seal seemed quite simple?

Muyue did not show this aspect, only asking questions from time to time.

……

On Monday, Gangzitie went to the ninja school early, and upon seeing that Shenyue Chuyun hadn't arrived yet, nodded with satisfaction. He placed a novel on the table and started reading.

When he felt that Shenyue Chuyun was about to arrive, Gangzitie put away the textbook, leaving only the novel on the table.

"Zitie, didn't you say there's no need to review? Why are you here early reading?" Shenyue Chuyun, who had studied until 1 AM last night, asked in surprise.

Gangzitie waved the novel in his hand and said, "What review? This is a newly released ninja novel, it's really good."

Shenyue Chuyun looked at the cover design and title, then felt relieved, and smiled:

"Reading novels to relax is indeed a good choice."

"So Zitie likes reading novels. I'll buy a best-selling novel for him tomorrow and let him read novels for two weeks." Shenyue Chuyun thought to himself.

He felt that first place was getting more and more secure.

"Chuyun, you look like you don't have much energy. You didn't stay up late studying, did you? That's bad for your health and not good for the exam." Gangzitie probed with a concerned look.

"No, last night I was playing games with my cousin and lost track of time, slept very late." Shenyue Chuyun said naturally.

"Playing games to relax, that's not bad either." Gangzitie showed a smile, feeling first place was getting more and more secure.

Liking to play games was good. He decided to inquire more about various games after school, striving to let Shenyue Chuyun play all kinds of games every day for two weeks.

"What novel? What game?" Hongdou, who entered the classroom, became interested.

Sunday, Monday, and Tuesday are really important. Please keep reading!
