Chapter 750: Boruto: Naruto, You'll Understand When You're My Age

~8 min read 1,413 words

The next day, Boruto went to the park where he had agreed to meet Obito.

Obito said that today he would take him to see young Sasuke, and would also give him a surprise.

"A surprise, all mysterious—I have no idea what he's up to."

Walking along the road, Boruto felt a little curious in his heart.

He had to admit that Obito was quite something; a simple meeting had stirred up an unexpected sense of anticipation in him.

Boruto had very good eyesight; before he even reached the entrance, he could already see Obito waving at him from afar.

Boruto jogged over.

As Boruto was about to arrive, Obito gathered chakra in his eyes, activated his Mangekyo Sharingan, and used Kamui.

"Ta-da! Little Sasuke makes his entrance!"

With a distortion of space, young Sasuke appeared beside Obito.

"Wow, such a tiny Mr. Sasuke."

Boruto, who had been wondering what Obito was planning, was instantly captivated by the three-year-old Sasuke and couldn't help but exclaim inwardly.

Little Sasuke wore a simple black high-collared long-sleeved shirt with the Uchiha clan's fan pattern on it, and plain black shorts with no design—rather modest attire.

Unlike the Sasuke with long hair that covered his eyes, little Sasuke had an energetic short hairstyle that looked full of life.

What surprised Boruto the most was little Sasuke's temperament; he had expected a cool, aloof kid with an icy expression, but instead found that little Sasuke seemed soft, cute, and slightly adorable.

"Big brother Obito, who is he?"

Little Sasuke, a bit scared from Boruto's staring, tugged at Obito's clothes and asked.

"His name is Boruto. He's a very strong ninja, you know."

Obito gave a thumbs-up toward Boruto as he explained.

Obito actually admired Boruto quite a bit—finding out that he had a "Karma" on his body and still maintaining that mindset.

Hearing Obito's words, Boruto puffed out his chest and accepted the compliment gracefully.

After all, he was a genius, a ninja acknowledged by his father.

"By the way, Obito, isn't the surprise you mentioned little Sasuke?"

Boruto couldn't help asking.

"Of course not."

Obito shook his head.

Sasuke was a promise he had made to Boruto—how could that count as a surprise?

"Then what is the surprise?"

Boruto was a bit expectant.

Even Sasuke, who wasn't the surprise, had given him such a big surprise—so the real surprise must be incredible.

"You'll find out soon enough."

Obito chuckled, snapped his fingers with his right hand, and activated Kamui again.

With a spatial distortion, Naruto, who was playing with a toy, was sent out of the Kamui dimension by Obito.

"It's you, the rude little brat!"

Naruto had just been about to greet Obito when he saw Boruto, puffed out his cheeks, and scolded him.

Boruto:...

"So you've met before."

Obito scratched his head.

He had been thinking of letting Boruto meet a younger version of his "father."

From the looks of it, they had not only met but also had a bit of an unpleasant encounter.

"Where did you learn that word? And you're the one who's the smallest brat."

Boruto couldn't help complaining.

Being called 'brat' by his father was nothing, but being called 'brat' by a three-year-old 'father' felt too weird.

"Whatever, in short you're a naturally evil blond brat!"

Naruto stared at Boruto and said.

"Ahem, he's Boruto, actually a very strong ninja."

Obito coughed lightly, trying to change the subject with the introduction.

"Then he's a strong naturally evil blond brat!"

Naruto added the new element Obito had given.

Obito looked up at the sky speechless, he shouldn't have made up that story about a naturally evil white-haired brat to tell Naruto.

People might think he was corrupting the kid.

"Aren't you two interested in ninja training? Today I'll take you to experience it."

Obito quickly pulled out a big trick to attract Naruto's attention.

"Brother Obito, really?"

Naruto turned his head and looked at Obito with anticipation.

Because he was too young, Kushina and Minato Namikaze hadn't started teaching him training yet.

Minato Namikaze planned to ask Kakashi or Obito to teach Naruto when Naruto turned four.

As for why not ask Muyue, the reason was simple: Muyue was now not a ninja academy teacher but the leader of the ninja world.

Minato Namikaze felt embarrassed to ask Muyue about this; if Muyue politely declined it would be fine, but if he actually agreed and delayed important matters of the ninja world, what then?

"Of course, keeping my word is my ninja way."

Obito laughed loudly.

"So cool! Keeping my word is my ninja way!"

Naruto raised his right arm and cheered.

"You're not even a ninja yet. What ninja way?"

Little Sasuke complained.

"No one says only ninja can have a ninja way."

Faced with Naruto's retort, Little Sasuke had nothing to say.

"So this is how Dad and Mr. Sasuke got along when they were kids?"

Boruto's expression was subtle.

The steady father was a loud little brat as a kid, and the cool handsome teacher was a cute little thing — why do they all love such contrasts?

"Why did Mr. Sasuke become like that?"

Boruto wondered what exactly Sasuke had gone through.

Turning from a little brat into a steady adult could be explained by maturity, but normal growth wouldn't turn a cheerful little boy into a cool and aloof older brother.

"Blond brat, why are you standing there alone not moving?"

Naruto saw Boruto standing still and asked.

Boruto was pulled back from his thoughts, his expression a bit unable to hold.

Even though it wasn't the first time hearing it, Boruto still felt it was damn annoying.

"You little brat, when you get to my age you'll understand."

Boruto countered.

Getting scolded by his dad in his own world was one thing, but in a parallel world being scolded by a three-year-old version of 'father' — Boruto had to strike back hard.

"You're not that old yourself, so why do you sound like an adult?"

Little Sasuke didn't let Naruto fight alone; he stood on the same side as Naruto.

The group made their way to the training ground, bickering all the while.

"Kunai are one of the most commonly used ninja tools. They can be thrown as projectiles or used as short blades."

Obito introduced them while taking out several kunai from his ninja tool pouch to demonstrate.

In Obito's hands, the kunai seemed to come alive, hitting wherever he aimed with perfect accuracy, earning him admiring looks from Naruto and little Sasuke.

Next, Obito led the three to a small waterfall and explained:

"Some ninjas use the pressure of waterfalls to aid their training."

"Fire Style: Blue Flame!"

Since the location was suitable, Obito showed off a little and fired a Blue Flame at the waterfall, instantly evaporating a large amount of water.

"Wow, this fire didn't go out even in the water, and its color is so beautiful."

Naruto exclaimed.

It was the first time he had seen such a peculiar flame.

"Amazing."

Little Sasuke also looked admiring.

"Showing off in front of kids like that is so lame."

Boruto thought to himself.

Obito could have continued demonstrating ninjutsu right after showing the tools, but he insisted on coming to the waterfall just to make his technique look its best.

"Aren't you a ninja too? Why are you just watching?"

Seeing that Boruto hadn't said a word, Naruto took the initiative to ask.

"Rasengan!"

Boruto immediately gathered a ball of chakra in his palm and threw it.

But as soon as the Rasengan flew out, it disappeared as if dissolving into thin air.

"That looks so lame."

Naruto complained.

Compared to Obito's Blue Flame, which caused a huge scene by evaporating a large amount of water, Boruto's Rasengan seemed like a low-level jutsu.

Boruto smiled without speaking; his Rasengan was no ordinary one.

Boom!

Two seconds after Naruto's remark, the Rasengan reappeared and struck the waterfall, splashing up a great amount of water.

"How did it suddenly appear?"

Naruto looked astonished.

"This is an Invisible Rasengan infused with Lightning Release chakra!"

Boruto said smugly.

His Rasengan had proven useful in the battle against Momoshiki Ōtsutsuki.

"That sounds amazing too."

Sasuke praised.

Naruto also chimed in with praise.

A broad smile spread across Boruto's face. He had easily won over that "lousy dad" and "Mr. Sasuke".

"You two want to play a game?"

Obito took out a pair of earrings and asked.
