Chapter 1026: Starlight Moon Dew Flower
Han Wuxian instantly became alert! His spiritual sense extended like invisible tendrils.
Only see, beneath the shadow of a gigantic, screen-like fern, a figure was curled up. That seemed to be… a person?
Han Wuxian's heart stirred, and he drew closer with greater caution. Using the faint moonlight filtering through the gaps in the giant leaves, he finally saw clearly.
That was a woman.
She wore a deep cyan battle outfit, already torn to shreds and stained with mud and dark red bloodstains, curled up in a damp, cold rock crevice. Her complexion was as pale as paper, her lips chapped, her eyes tightly shut, and fine dew droplets clung to her long eyelashes.
Her left shoulder bore a terrifying puncture wound, its edges scorched black, as if struck by some powerful energy beam; the flesh around the wound showed an abnormal bluish-black hue and faintly emitted wisps of black gas, obviously containing deadly poison! Her breath was extremely feeble, her life force like a candle in the wind, liable to gutter out at any moment.
What made Han Wuxian's pupils contract even more was that he sensed from her body an extremely subtle yet unusually pure… fluctuation of stellar power! Though faint, that pure aura, carrying a sense of ancient legacy, bore some resemblance to the Azure Lotus Fairy Mark within him! It was utterly unlike the cold, predatory stellar power of the Rising Light Sect!
"Who is she? How did she end up here? Injured so severely……" Han Wuxian's mind filled with doubts. This savage forest is no safe haven; a gravely injured, dying woman appearing here is inherently strange. Moreover, the stellar power on her body……
He crouched down and carefully examined the woman's injuries. That puncture wound was extremely lethal, the toxin overbearing; if not for her own cultivation not being weak—at least late Golden Core—and some pure stellar power protecting her meridians, she would have already died.
"To save or not to save?" Han Wuxian frowned. This place is fraught with danger; bringing along a mortally wounded burden is surely a suicide mission. Moreover, her identity is unknown, so it's unclear whether she is friend or foe.
Just then, the woman seemed to sense the presence of a living person; her long eyelashes twitched violently a few times, and she struggled to open a slit. Those were a pair of extraordinarily beautiful eyes, their depths seeming to hold shattered stars, now filled with pain and extreme exhaustion.
"Water……" her cracked lips moved, emitting a breath so faint it was almost inaudible.
The pain and will to live in those eyes softened Han Wuxian's heart. He was ultimately not one who abandons the dying. More importantly, the pure stellar power on her body, and the reason she appears here, might dispel his doubts about this forest and about the guidance of the Star Chart Mark.
"Hold on a bit." Han Wuxian said softly. He quickly scanned the surroundings, confirming temporary safety. Then he took a waterskin from his storage bag, carefully brought it to her lips, and fed her drop by drop.
The cool dew moistened her parched throat, and the woman's spirit seemed to revive a little. She struggled to turn her eyes toward Han Wuxian; her gaze was full of wariness, doubt, and a faint, hardly perceptible gratitude.
"Thank…… thank……" her voice remained weak.
"Who are you? How did you end up like this?" Han Wuxian asked in a low voice.
A flicker of complex pain crossed the woman's eyes; after a moment of silence, she haltingly said: "I… I am Yun Li… a Star Patrol Envoy of the "Starfall Pavilion"… pursuing… traitors… and the stolen… "Star Pivot" fragments… I arrived here… suffered an ambush… by the "Rising Light Sect"'s "Star Mark Guard"……"
Starfall Pavilion? Star Pivot Fragment? Rising Light Sect Star Mark Guard?!
Han Wuxian's heart shuddered violently! Another power related to stellar force! And it sounds like it's hostile to the Rising Light Sect? What is a Star Pivot Fragment? It seems extremely important!
"Is the Rising Light Sect… also here?" Han Wuxian pressed, this being his most pressing concern.
Yun Li weakly shook her head, her eyes filled with bone-deep hatred: "No… they… are… cross-border… pursuing… me… I… used… a… rare… "Star Flow Vortex"… to… flee… into… this… unknown… star region… but… they… seem… to… have… a… method… to… track… "Star Pivot" fragments… sooner or later… they will… come after……"
Cross-border pursuit! Star Flow Vortex! Unknown Star Region! Star Pivot Fragment!
The information was immense! Han Wuxian quickly sorted out some context: the woman named Yun Li came from a power called the "Starfall Pavilion", carrying an important "Star Pivot Fragment", was cross-border pursued by the Rising Light Sect's Star Mark Guard, escaped to this savage continent using some cosmic phenomenon, yet still suffered heavy injuries.
"Your wound… must be detoxified and healed as soon as possible, otherwise you won't last the night." Han Wuxian said solemnly, looking at Yun Li's shoulder wound still emitting black mist. The enemies of the Rising Light Sect might temporarily become allies.
"The poison… is… "Star-Eroding Miasma"… needs… the… pistil… of… "Starlight Moon Dew Flower"… to… be… neutralized……" A flash of despair crossed Yun Li's eyes: "This flower… only… blooms… at… midnight… when… moonlight… is… at… its… peak… on… the… nexus… of… a… spirit vein… rich… in… stellar… essence… extremely… rare……"
Starlight Moon Dew Flower? Han Wuxian's heart stirred. He recalled the strange fruit he'd found in that impact crater earlier, capable of mending his bone fractures—could it be this very name? The starlight flowing inside the fruit indeed contained pure stellar essence!
"I know where it is!" Han Wuxian said immediately. The impact crater isn't too far from here!
Yun Li's dim eyes instantly sparked a glimmer of hope; she looked at Han Wuxian in disbelief: "Really… really?"
"Mm! Hold on, I'll go get it!" Han Wuxian hesitated no longer. The information from Yun Li's mouth was vital, and having an extra ally against the Rising Light Sect was always good. He quickly scattered some insect- and beast-repelling powder around the ferns where Yun Li hid, then covered her further with dry twigs and leaves to make her more concealed.
"Be careful… the… beasts… guarding… the… spirit medicine… are usually… strong……" Yun Li warned weakly.
"Understood." Han Wuxian nodded, his form flashing like a leopard melting into the night, he sprinted toward the impact crater.
Relying on his previous memory and the faint sensation of the Star Chart Mark, Han Wuxian quickly returned to the edge of that huge impact crater. The crater floor remained scorched black, but its edges had begun to be covered by dense vegetation. The spot where he had previously found the Starlight Moon Dew Flower was among the vines on the crater wall.
He slid down the crater wall soundlessly, approaching those few stalks of deep purple strange vines. Moonlight poured like water through the crater opening. Sure enough, at the roots of those vines, several stalks of entirely jade-like Starlight Moon Dew Flower were growing quietly.
On one of them, three translucent fruits the size of longans had matured, their interiors flowing with starlight, exuding a cool, pure life force and rich stellar essence! This was precisely the concentrated essence of the flower's pistil!
Han Wuxian's heart leapt with joy, he was about to step forward to pluck it.
