Chapter 1359: The Shameless British

~7 min read 1,311 words

Meanwhile.

America, Longyan City.

Qingyang Shuo had already received news of the great battle last night; he looked at the military report and nodded.

He had not expected the fighting yesterday to be so intense; the French troops suffered heavy casualties, and most crucially, the Indians defected on the spot, causing them immense trouble.

Although the British troops did not suffer heavy casualties, they lost their positions and could only hide in the mountain forests; from now on, the British would only be able to launch guerrilla attacks from the forests.

In this war, neither side achieved any victory; on the contrary, both sides exhausted too much.

Qingyang Shuo curled the corners of his mouth, folded the battle report, and placed it on the table, thinking to himself that this was only the beginning.

Although France and Britain fought fiercely, they had not actually suffered any fundamental damage.

They still needed to fight more violently; only then could Yun City, the second city of Longyan in America, develop.

Just at this moment, a servant entered and said.

"Qingyang Xiansheng, the guests from Britain have already arrived outside the city."

Qingyang Shuo frowned slightly; these uninvited guests had come after all.

"Pass down my order: all shops, large and small, are to close temporarily today. The Longyan Army is to line up in formation; I will personally receive the visitors from Britain!"

The order was quickly issued, and although all shops, large and small, were closed.

A large crowd still gathered to watch, but they were all blocked far away by the Longyan Army.

Qingyang Shuo sat in a wheelchair, with a servant pushing him from behind.

The city gates opened.

The British guard outside, Captain Gelin, walked in, followed by two Longyan merchants at his side.

The moment they saw the gates of Longyan City open, although they were returning home, Wanshang and Fang Dalong felt their hearts turn to ash.

The two sighed, looking at Qingyang Shuo, who wore a smile not far away; feeling guilty, they hung their heads, thinking.

Alas, from today on, we are sinners of Longyan City; how could we have led these British wolves and tigers inside?

A smile appeared on Qingyang Shuo's face; the moment they stepped into the city, Longyan City immediately began beating drums and gongs, the sound shaking the heavens, to welcome them to Longyan City.

Captain Gelin's expression remained unchanged; he walked up to Qingyang Shuo with an unusually calm demeanor, looking down at him as he sat in the wheelchair.

The City Lord of Longyan City, Qingyang Shuo.

"You have traveled from afar, and we welcome you here," Qingyang Shuo said softly.

"Welcome Wanshang and Fang Dalong home, and welcome the guests from Britain!" the Longyan Army shouted in unison, their voices like thunder.

A slight change appeared on Captain Gelin's face; such a uniform and disciplined army was truly rare.

"Thank you. On behalf of us British, I thank you for your welcome," Captain Gelin bowed slightly.

He looked at Qingyang Shuo without saying much more.

The scene fell silent again, while Wanshang and Fang Dalong looked deathly pale; these shameless British were likely planning to overstay their welcome.

Along the way, they had thought of various Methods to prevent the British from reaching Longyan City, but they had all failed.

Qingyang Shuo, however, suddenly said: "Let them begin; we must use the most grand manner to help our friends returning home to Longyan, the British."

The servant nodded to show he understood, then stepped back and turned to make a gesture.

Immediately after, Boom! Boom! Boom! Boom...

The sound of cannons roared, and huge ceremonial shells were fired into the sky, exploding and releasing dazzling, colorful hues.

To the eyes of ordinary people, this might only look like a magnificent fireworks display.

But to Captain Gelin, it was quite different.

His eyes narrowed as he watched the ceremonial shells fired into the sky; at an extreme altitude, the flames burned after the instantaneous explosion, his pupils suddenly constricted, and his complexion changed.

He stared blankly at the old man sitting in the wheelchair, feeling a sense of respect in his heart.

He had not expected

that he would bring out Longyan City's secret cannons to show him.

He smiled at the corner of his mouth; was this an attempt to intimidate him with well-equipped gear?

Captain Gelin clapped his hands and said in somewhat broken Longyan language: "Impressive, impressive, City Lord. How much do such cannons cost? We would like to purchase a batch."

Hearing Captain Gelin's words, the servant chuckled; Captain Gelin glanced at him but said nothing.

Qingyang Shuo immediately looked at the servant, who then stopped his laughter.

"Please do not take offense, Captain; we do not sell these things in Longyan."

A look of disdain appeared on Captain Gelin's face; he had long known that such cannons could not be sold to them. By asking this, he was essentially saying that Longyan's cannons were nothing more than this.

"Oh, I see. It is my fault for being so forward," Captain Gelin wore an awkward expression with a forced smile, but his face was full of contempt.

However, upon hearing this, the servant pushing Qingyang Shuo could no longer hold back a sneer.

"Hahaha..."

Captain Gelin's expression stiffened, and his gaze gradually turned cold.

Qingyang Shuo hurriedly pulled the servant and scolded: "What are you laughing at? Our Longyan language is difficult to learn; it is already quite impressive that Captain Gelin can speak it to this extent."

The servant, however, shook his head with a smile and said: "Xiansheng... I, I am not laughing at his poor Longyan, but at his shallow vision."

"He even wants to buy this kind of trash that no one in Longyan uses."

"Pfft, hahaha..." The servant had served Qingyang Shuo for many years and naturally knew some of Longyan's secrets.

"Presumptuous, shut up," Qingyang Shuo scolded.

The servant said 'oh' and immediately suppressed his smile, then heard Qingyang Shuo whisper to him: "It is enough that you know; those British in America have not necessarily seen the world."

The voice was neither loud nor soft, just enough for Captain Gelin to hear clearly; at this moment, his face was as dark as iron.

At this moment, he felt insulted; although such cannons were not the most advanced in Britain, they were still very powerful.

They actually called them trash; this was a sign that they did not hold the British in any regard.

He had to see, what was the most powerful cannon in Longyan?

Looking at Qingyang Shuo sitting in a wheelchair, he gave a cold snort: "Mr. City Lord, you said this was your trashiest cannon, then have the ability to let me see, what is the best cannon you Longyan have?"

Qingyang Shuo gave a fawning laugh: "What best cannon, you misheard just now."

"Hmph, we help you Longyan people, and this is how you Longyan people repay us?" Captain Gelin gave a cold snort and continued: "Don't you Longyan people most emphasize that a drop of water in need shall be repaid with a spring?"

Upon hearing this, Qingyang Shuo revealed an imperceptible smile; the fish had taken the bait.

The war was not yet intense enough; he had to make this group of British people use weapons with greater lethality on the battlefield, encouraging them to fight until they beat each other's brains out.

But Qingyang Shuo's expression changed immediately, and he said with difficulty: "This..."

"It is a bit difficult."

Captain Gelin gave a sneer: "If it's difficult, then forget it; in any case, it is your Longyan people's reputation that will be spread."

Qingyang Shuo sighed, as if he had made a great resolution: "Very well, I will let you witness the cannon newly developed by our Longyan Chief Minister."
