Chapter 1433: The Olive Branch of Catholicism
The partitioned Poland, the Tsarist Russia region.
Boerniefu sat in the capital city built by the Polish, receiving a special Messenger.
Boerniefu looked at him; regarding this special Messenger, his gaze was full of disdain.
"General, the Longyan army has already reached Poland. I believe it will not be long before they launch an attack."
Hearing this, Boerniefu looked at the face hidden beneath his white robe and spread his hands.
"What is there to be surprised about that the Longyan have come? That loyal dog Hamid cannot beat me, so he can only go and find his master, the Longyan."
"I had already anticipated this matter; what is so strange about it?"
Boerniefu's tone was full of disdain; for this newly promoted general,
he was very much looking forward to his first engagement with the Longyan, as he had coveted this battle for a long time.
The Longyan had originally blockaded them, Tsarist Russia, in the interior, cutting off their transportation and leaving them to fend for themselves in the cold north.
The conflict between Tsarist Russia and the Longyan had reached an irreconcilable point.
Personally crushing the elite of the Longyan army was the wish of every Tsarist Russian general.
Regarding the news that the Longyan army had long since arrived in Poland, Boerniefu had already learned of it through his own channels.
There is no wall that does not let the wind through.
He already had a Method to deal with the Longyan army.
The mysterious Messenger sneered, looking at the unusually confident Boerniefu: "With the General's talent, you surely must have a plan."
The mysterious Messenger struck a contemplative pose, looking at Boerniefu in a joking manner, as if he could see through everything about him.
This look made Boerniefu feel very uncomfortable.
"Your Excellency, if there is nothing else, you may leave." Boerniefu directly issued an order to expel the guest.
He did not have half an ounce of good feeling for this special Messenger.
The Messenger laughed and said softly: "General, let me guess what your strategy is."
Boerniefu sat back in his seat and ignored him.
He was not annoyed and continued to speak to himself: "The General intends to send another army from the Tsarist Russia heartland to launch a surprise attack on Hamid from the rear."
"You are holding your ground here and ignoring Hamid's provocations entirely; aren't you just waiting for their, Hamid's, attack?"
"As long as they dare to come, I imagine the General will, as if by magic, surround the Longyan army and Hamid's army..."
The mysterious Messenger had just continued to speak when a large hand firmly gripped his neck.
Boerniefu's face was extremely calm, but the murderous intent in his eyes could not be concealed.
What this person said was too shocking.
This was a top-secret military order issued by Boerniefu, with the goal of slaughtering this entire Longyan army to the last man.
He believed that this pincer strategy could absolutely bury the Longyan army and the Ottoman Army in Poland.
But such a strategy could not and should not be known by others.
And least of all should it be known by him!
The Envoy of Catholicism, Huoer!
"Envoy Huoer, you know too much; who told you?"
Huoer's hood had fallen off at this moment, and he could no longer hide his face.
Huoer smiled faintly, not caring at all that his face was exposed: "Why I know this, does the General not understand?"
Boerniefu's face was icy and piercing; even the air in the room dropped by several degrees.
"You can choose to speak, or you can choose not to."
"But I will kill you regardless."
Huoer was not afraid in the slightest and said very provocatively: "General, you will not kill me, for that would be too great a loss for you."
"You also know that our Catholicism is the largest sect in Europe, and even many royal families must accept the investiture of our Pope before they can rule."
"If our Pope does not recognize them, then they cannot become emperors."
"And your Eastern Orthodox Church is the same as our Catholicism."
"But unfortunately, the current Eastern Orthodox Church only maintains its orthodoxy in your Tsarist Russia."
"Originally, our Catholicism had nothing to discuss with your Eastern Orthodox Church."
"But, I have come this time with the Pope's guidance to seek help."
Boerniefu did not speak, but he did not kill him either.
Killing him was too simple; Boerniefu only needed to exert a little force, and this Messenger sent by the Catholic sect would completely return to the embrace of the Lord.
But Tsarist Russia would then lose its cooperative relationship with Catholicism, and the already disharmonious relationship between the two would be pushed to the extreme.
This was something neither side wanted to see.
Catholicism held a pivotal position in Europe; the Catholic Pope had great power, yet one could also say he had no power at all.
He did not directly participate in politics to control those countries, but the kings of most European countries needed his blessing upon their ascension to the throne.
If he was dissatisfied with a country's emperor, then that person could not become emperor.
This was the power of the Pope.
And the head of the Eastern Orthodox Church belonged only to Tsarist Russia.
Thinking of this, Boerniefu slowly loosened his grip; things had not yet reached the point of life-and-death.
There was still room for mitigation.
Boerniefu said coldly: "What are you trying to do by obtaining this military intelligence?"
Huoer pulled his hood back up and pressed down on the brim of his hat before saying: "General, I hope you understand that it is not that I want to know this military intelligence, but that there are people who reveal it to me to prove their loyalty to the Lord."
"We have come to seek cooperation with your Tsarist Russia," Huoer said sincerely.
This sincerity was met only with Boerniefu's disdain: "Cooperation?"
"A Catholic coming to talk to an Eastern Orthodox believer about cooperation?"
Boerniefu sneered: "Do you think this is reasonable?"
"It is not reasonable," Huoer answered directly.
He added: "But it is logical; I know the conflict between my church and the Eastern Orthodox Church is very deep, but we both believe in the Lord, and regardless of who is orthodox, we should be one family."
"We should cooperate to face the current crisis, the invasion of the heretics!"
Boerniefu's expression darkened; the heretics mentioned here referred to the followers of Protestantism.
Although all three parties were branches of Christianity, Protestantism had the deepest conflict with them.
"The root cause of this war sweeping across Europe is the flames of war ignited by Prussia, that nation composed of heretics."
"We should encircle and annihilate them," Huoer said righteously.
Boerniefu was slightly moved; he was a staunch believer in the Eastern Orthodox Church and had no affection, or even hatred, for Protestantism.
In his view, those who believed in Protestantism were all heretics who should be punished by burning at the stake.
But, he equally loathed this group of hypocritical Catholics!
"Cooperation is possible, but what can you Catholics bring to our Tsarist Russia?" Boerniefu looked at him coldly.
Huoer said calmly: "We Catholics will form a Holy Cross Army in the name of crusading against the heretics to crusade against Longyan and their allies."
"Once the Holy War ends, my Lord promises ports to Tsarist Russia!"
