Chapter 1579: Operation Successful
The Small Tavern.
Chief Wang was at the entrance, pacing back and forth, looking anxiously into the distance: "Why aren't they here yet?"
He had not participated in this operation.
Chief Wang was not particularly old, but he was not young either; his body could no longer handle such high-intensity combat.
At the thought of Qin Zhangfeng leading a team to attack the Zhian-suo and the Bank in the French Colonial Zone, Chief Wang could not help but worry.
These two were the institutions the French valued most.
Aside from the French troops, these two institutions had the highest defensive strength.
When Qin Zhangfeng was planning, he had told them that the French Zhian-suo and the Bank were highly dangerous, and although they had undergone training for such a long time, there might be casualties.
Hearing such words, the Indians did not shrink back at all.
But Chief Wang was extremely worried.
Although Chief Wang also knew that for what they had to do, sacrifice was inevitable.
Yet his heart could never calmly face this matter; they were the future of the Indians, and the sacrifice of even one was a huge loss.
Watching the sky slowly darken, almost a full day had passed since Qin Zhangfeng led the team away.
Chief Wang's expression was even more solemn.
He continued to gaze into the distance, and just then, a team of people appeared on the horizon; Chief Wang's tightly furrowed brows slowly relaxed.
He stared at the people gradually appearing in the distance, a look of joy appearing on his face.
It was exactly Qin Zhangfeng and the others he had been looking forward to for so long.
"General Qin..."
Before he could finish speaking, Chief Wang looked at Qin Zhangfeng's serious and earnest expression.
He was stunned for a moment; it seemed someone had sacrificed their life.
He looked at the returning figures and saw only half the number of Indians, sighing heavily: "General Qin, did they..."
Qin Zhangfeng glanced at him and, without a word, pushed the door open to enter the Small Tavern.
Chief Wang did not say more; after checking that there were no pursuers outside, he closed the door tightly.
The group threw all the sacks they were carrying on their backs onto the ground, producing the sound of metal colliding.
Chief Wang ignored these things; twelve people had gone out, and only half remained.
Chief Wang felt the atmosphere in the air was very heavy.
Chief Wang sighed mournfully: "How can there be success without people dying?"
He consoled himself with this, then raised his head to look at Qin Zhangfeng and asked: "General, did they lose face for us Indians?"
Qin Zhangfeng looked at Chief Wang in confusion; this guy had been pulling a long face ever since he came in.
What was the point of asking this now?
"No."
Hearing this answer, Chief Wang felt slightly relieved.
"They are all heroes of the Indians."
"..." Qin Zhangfeng.
Qin Zhangfeng did not know if their bandit-like behavior—rushing in and looting all the guns and ammunition without firing a single shot on the battlefield—could be considered being heroes of the Indians.
But Qin Zhangfeng knew that this operation, which had been completely devoid of danger, had not shown their true standard at all.
Thinking of this, Qin Zhangfeng said: "I suppose so..."
Chief Wang nodded, looked at the five remaining Indians, and comforted them: "It is good that you were able to return alive; you must avenge them on the battlefield!"
The five Indians looked at each other, completely failing to understand what Chief Wang was talking about.
"Chief, what are you saying? Avenge?"
"Aren't we all fine? What kind of gloomy talk is that?"
Hearing this, Chief Wang's face turned angry, and he stared at them: "You are alive, but what about them? They sacrificed their lives!"
Everyone was completely bewildered upon hearing this.
Qin Zhangfeng was also stunned, looking at Chief Wang with slightly furrowed brows:
"They all returned alive."
Chief Wang's forehead was filled with a giant question mark.
What did he mean by "all returned alive"? Only six people had clearly returned.
"General Qin, I only see six people now; when you set out, there were twelve."
Chief Wang said in a deep voice.
Qin Zhangfeng said "Oh."
He added: "They are behind; counting the time, they should be here soon."
Chief Wang was stunned, looking at Qin Zhangfeng's relaxed expression, not knowing what to say.
Just then, the door creaked open.
Chief Wang looked toward the entrance as six more Indians walked in, also carrying large sacks on their backs, and his expression immediately turned strange.
The six people saw that the atmosphere in the tavern was somewhat subtle.
Not knowing why, they were slightly stunned, then immediately placed their heavy sacks on the ground.
"Chief, we've struck it rich." The Indians opened the sacks, revealing the Silver Coins and copper coins issued by the French inside.
Chief Wang was stunned, then looked at Qin Zhangfeng, whose face was still serious.
After he opened all twelve sacks placed on the ground, he was instantly dumbfounded.
Inside the twelve sacks, half were filled with money, and half were filled with guns.
They were all packed to the brim.
He looked at Qin Zhangfeng in confusion; twelve people had gone out, and not a single one was injured, they had returned completely unscathed, and they had even brought back so much money and so many guns.
This is a happy thing, why do you have such a serious look on your face?
"General Qin, everyone is fine, and the operation was completed successfully, why are you trying to scare me?" Chief Wang said with a face full of confusion.
Qin Zhangfeng was stunned; scare him, what did that mean?
When had he ever scared Chief Wang?
Qin Zhangfeng said with a serious face: "When have I ever scared you?"
"Then what is that expression on your face for?"
Seeing Chief Wang's gestures, Qin Zhangfeng immediately felt awkward.
"Chief, don't blame General Qin, how should I put this operation?"
"Under General Qin's command, not only were we completely fine, but one could even say the process was explosively simple."
Hearing his own man say this, Chief Wang's expression as he looked at Qin Zhangfeng gradually became strange.
Hearing such words, Chief Wang did not know how to evaluate it either.
Qin Zhangfeng cleared his throat and said: "Next mission, you organize it yourselves."
The French Zhian-suo that had been robbed.
At this moment, having received the news, the Zhian-guan who went to support the Bank had already rushed back.
The Zhian-zhang was very unhappy in his heart; he really did not know how this group of robbers had managed it.
They had actually completed the robbery in an extremely short amount of time.
By the time they arrived, those robbers had long since slipped away.
Not even a shadow could be found, and after taking stock, the Bank's losses this time were huge.
Having failed to catch the robbers, the Zhian-zhang looked annoyed.
He was wondering how to write the report for this incident.
The Zhian-zhang first cast these matters to the back of his mind, looked at the Zhian-suo, and sighed.
Just as he entered the Zhian-suo, he saw that the inside was a mess, as if it had been ransacked.
The Zhian-zhang's mind went blank instantly.
He had seen a scene like this before, at the French Bank!
"Fake!"
A surge of anger rushed from the Zhian-zhang's mind straight to his crown; were the robbers nowadays really this arrogant, daring to rob even the Zhian-suo!
