Chapter 1584

To this end, Ling Chen modified his combat boots, deepening the treads on the soles to increase friction so that the soldiers would not be unable to walk on the mountain.

Ling Chen had personally tested this Method, and it was quite effective.

However, the mountain roads were rugged and the woods dense; although they were not as lush as in summer, they still greatly obstructed one's field of vision.

Yet, this also gave them a great advantage for their infiltration.

After scouting the location of the mountain stronghold, Ling Chen led three squads to sneak into the enemy camp.

They moved forward through the woods.

These bandits were, after all, not a professional army, merely bandits with guns.

But their vigilance was still very strong.

Coupled with their extreme familiarity with the mountain, they soon discovered the Longyan troops attempting to launch a surprise attack.

However, they were taken out before they could pass the news into the stronghold.

Ling Chen had led only thirty men.

The main purpose of this surprise attack was to scout the situation so that the subsequent battle would not be too arduous.

A force of twenty thousand is neither too many nor too few.

Ling Chen crept to the base of the wall and heard the commotion inside the stronghold.

It seemed they were celebrating something inside.

Ling Chen signaled to the others to split up and take action; although they were Longyan, it was not that difficult to disguise themselves as Prussian.

The thirty men split into six groups to carry out their actions.

They snuck into the stronghold from different positions.

The Special Forces unit led by Ling Chen entered the stronghold without the slightest difficulty.

Bonfires lit inside the stronghold could be seen everywhere; after sneaking in, Ling Chen watched what was being celebrated in the stronghold.

Ling Chen did not quite understand the customs of the Prussian, but this did not hinder him from gathering information at all.

According to what he learned from the mouths of these lackeys, today was not about any custom; it was just that when they went down the mountain to replenish supplies, they saw a very beautiful woman.

Their stronghold leader decided on the spot to snatch her up to the mountain, and tonight was the big day for their stronghold leader and this woman.

Hearing this news, Ling Chen nodded.

Tonight was indeed a good opportunity for a surprise attack.

Ling Chen pretended to be there to celebrate, drank a few mouthfuls of wine, and then left.

Just at this moment, the great stronghold leader of this stronghold came out to celebrate with the unwilling woman by his side.

Ling Chen glanced at the woman twice before looking away, his scrutinizing gaze fixed on the great stronghold leader, firmly memorizing the appearances of both of them.

After obtaining this information, Ling Chen did not linger too long, but continued to scout other parts of the stronghold.

There was nothing special about the entire stronghold; once the environment here was scouted out.

Ling Chen confirmed there were no omissions.

According to their agreed-upon position, Ling Chen waited there for his teammates.

This was the only relatively low wall in the stronghold.

It looked like one could easily climb over it.

Just at this moment, Ling Chen's eyes froze as he saw a strange but very familiar woman.

Strange because he had never had any contact with this woman, and familiar because he had already memorized this woman's face.

He saw the woman, and the woman saw him.

Ling Chen was stunned and hurriedly turned his head away.

Although it was winter, this woman was dressed very thinly, one could even say she was wearing almost no clothes.

More crucially, she was holding a knife in her hand, and fresh blood was dripping from the blade.

Seeing Ling Chen's bandit attire, Lina, whose heart was already in a panic, was even more at a loss.

"Please let me go, I can pay you a reward," Lina said, so frightened that she dropped the knife and begged bitterly.

Seeing her state, Ling Chen immediately understood what this woman had just done.

If he had not guessed wrong, the bandit leader here should have already been killed by her.

If he had not guessed wrong, the bandit leader here should have already been killed by her.

Hearing this, Lina was immediately overwhelmed with panic; just moments ago, when the bandit leader wanted to defile her.

She had pulled the knife she had long prepared from her sleeve and stabbed it fiercely into the bandit leader's body.

She had also managed to escape.

Now the bandit leader's life or death was uncertain.

"I... I..."

Lina shed tears of grievance, never expecting that just after escaping, she would run into the bandit leader's underling.

It seemed she would not be able to escape this mountain stronghold after all.

Lina looked at the blood-stained knife on the snow, a sense of farewell rising in her heart.

She immediately lunged forward to pick up the knife, but was kicked away by Ling Chen.

She looked up at Ling Chen's face, high and mighty; did she not even have the right to die?

Thinking of this, Lina fell into complete despair.

Yet at this moment, Ling Chen said: "Follow me in a moment."

When he said this, Ling Chen threw his overcoat to Lina and did not look at her again.

Lina was stunned, feeling the warmth brought by the military overcoat.

Lina was stunned, feeling the warmth brought by the military overcoat.

A sense of dizziness suddenly appeared before his eyes; those bandits had never been this gentle.

Before long, all of Ling Chen's teammates arrived.

Seeing the strange woman who had suddenly appeared here, they were stunned for a moment; where had this woman come from? They had never seen her before.

And she was even wearing Ling Chen's overcoat.

This made people even more curious.

Ling Chen felt that his teammates' gazes were not quite right, so he explained, "This is someone the bandits snatched; she is coming back with us."

The group let out an "oh," revealing strange expressions.

Although they did not know why, Ling Chen seemed to have become a different person ever since he met Diana.

And now, he had actually encountered another woman.

This general, who was known for being decisive in killing, had actually considerately given this woman his own clothes.

Such an action simply did not seem like him at all.

However, the group did not say much more.

They immediately climbed out of the mountain stronghold and returned to the military camp.

Each of them recorded everything they had seen inside the mountain stronghold.

Ling Chen looked at the paper on which the records had been drawn into a map and nodded.

With this information, this mountain stronghold could definitely be taken tonight.

Ling Chen left to assemble the troops and launch a surprise attack.

Sure enough, the reaction of these bandits was not the slightest bit different from what Ling Chen had anticipated.

It was basically a landslide-style collapse.

These bandits had absolutely no ability to resist.

In the absence of their bandit leader, the twenty thousand men were like twenty thousand chickens, and they were quickly slaughtered clean.

Ling Chen did not give them a chance to beg for mercy.

He did not even give them a chance to resist.

This mountain stronghold was quickly razed to the ground.

The Dragon Flame Army began to clear the battlefield; they captured quite a lot of equipment this time, though it was all trash manufactured by France.

Ling Chen did not even spare it a glance.

At the same time, he also rescued many Prussians whom the bandits had plundered and brought up the mountain.

Looking at the battlefield, Ling Chen sighed with emotion; these bandits posed no pressure to him at all.

Returning to the military camp once again, Ling Chen hurried to his tent, suddenly feeling as if he were facing a formidable enemy.

He had been in the military for so long, yet even the most vicious people had never given him such a strong sense of oppression.
