Chapter 1841: Indigenous People
Some people wearing animal skins, holding wooden spears in their hands, watched Liu Zheng and his group vigilantly.
They looked at the massive Supply Ship that had been washed ashore, fell into fear, and slowly approached.
Seeing them approach, the Longyan Soldiers raised the muskets in their hands.
Based on past experience, some of these humans who had not yet come into contact with civilized society still maintained very ancient customs—cannibalism!
They were very wary of the approach of these indigenous people.
Liu Zheng waved his hand, signaling the Longyan Soldiers to lower their guns.
He looked at the approaching indigenous people and said in a deep voice: "Wait and see what they are going to do; we need more people to help us leave here."
Hearing this, the first mate signaled his men to lower their guns, but their hands remained firmly gripped on the gun handles.
In case any trouble arose, they would be ready to react.
Liu Zheng squinted his eyes and watched them vigilantly; after the Great Age of Discovery began, colonization had started in many places.
Many, many continents had been discovered.
The place of Indonesia was no exception, but this sea area was composed of scattered islands, and they had encountered a hurricane in the waters of the Malacca Strait.
It was very likely they had been blown onto an unnamed island in the waters of the Malacca Strait.
The indigenous people ignored Liu Zheng and came before the Supply Ship.
They took out sharp wooden sticks and poked the Supply Ship, but they did not poke through; instead, the tips of the wooden sticks were shattered by the impact against the Supply Ship.
The indigenous people were stunned, looking at the Supply Ship in astonishment.
They circled the ship, as if inspecting and observing prey.
Finally, they seemed to determine that this big monster would not move, and they danced and gestured, as if celebrating something.
The first mate frowned and whispered to Liu Zheng: "Sir, are we really just going to leave these indigenous people alone?"
Liu Zheng turned his head and said in a deep voice: "No, we must find a Method to subdue the indigenous people here; do you see that forest?"
"I have thought of a Method to get the Supply Ship back to the sea, but it requires the help of these indigenous people."
"Moreover, if we have a conflict with them now, the situation will only get worse."
Liu Zheng suddenly remembered something and looked at his first mate: "Did you stay in Indonesia and learn the language of the indigenous people here?"
The first mate nodded: "Yes, I followed His Highness Prince Yong to sea and came to Indonesia, where I stayed for a period of time."
Liu Zheng gave an "oh."
He looked at the indigenous people dancing and asked: "What does it mean for them to do this?"
The first mate watched the dance of the indigenous people and said in a deep voice: "They are declaring that this ship is theirs."
Immediately after, a group of indigenous people came over, surrounded Liu Zheng and his Longyan Soldiers, and danced while holding wooden sticks.
Liu Zheng turned his head and asked again: "Are they declaring that we are theirs too?"
The first mate looked grave; after watching for several seconds, he said in a deep voice: "They are deciding what to eat tonight."
Liu Zheng gave an "oh."
He suddenly realized that they were the ingredients!
The first mate immediately ordered: "Prepare for defense!"
There were two hundred Longyan Soldiers who had survived from the Supply Ship.
The two hundred Longyan Soldiers immediately raised the muskets in their hands and aimed at these indigenous people; if they made any aggressive move, the Longyan Soldiers would not hesitate to fire.
Bang!
Liu Zheng took out his Revolver and fired into the sky.
The sound stunned the indigenous people; it sounded like thunder.
The indigenous people let out a cry of surprise, showing that they were very afraid.
Liu Zheng and the first mate walked out from the crowd, his hand still holding the Revolver with the smoke not yet dissipated.
The first mate spoke loudly in the indigenous language: "We come from outside your world and are not your food."
"If you want to start a battle with us, I think the ones who will be eaten will be you!"
The first mate raised the Revolver, aimed at a treetop, and fired a shot.
The indigenous people watched as the coconut at the treetop instantly shattered.
They immediately fell into chaos; to them, the shell of a coconut was indestructible and harder than their own heads.
After they obtained a coconut, they needed to spend a lot of effort to open it.
But these people could do it easily with the thing in their hands.
The indigenous people had a chaotic discussion.
Finally, someone brought the chief.
The chief looked at Liu Zheng and his group, spread his arms, and leaned his body slightly forward.
The first mate said from the side: "This should be a gesture of friendship from their tribe."
Liu Zheng nodded imperceptibly.
The chief said: "Jiliwala, wuliwala..."
The first mate translated from the side: "The chief says they have no malice and welcome you strangers who have come from afar."
"He also says that a war has broken out on their island, and people from another tribe are attacking their Swadik Tribe to snatch the panacea."
"That is something bestowed upon their tribe by the gods and must never be snatched away by outsiders."
"They hope we can help them conquer the other tribe."
"In return, they will send us home."
Liu Zheng was thoughtful and said: "Ask them how they will send us back."
The first mate translated it over.
The chieftain pointed at the Supply Ship and said loudly, "Kalala la..."
The first mate also looked toward the Supply Ship and translated for Liu Zheng, "He says that you are not the only strangers to have come from far away across the sea; they all arrived riding similar 'sea monsters'."
"It is just that they were not as friendly as you; we made them into our wisdom."
Liu Zheng looked down at the Musket in his hand and fell into silence.
The first mate asked in a low voice, "Sir, what should we do now? Shall we help them?"
Liu Zheng pondered for a moment and said, "Tell them we are not butchers and will not help them fight, but we can help them resolve the battle. Tell him I need to see the chieftain of the other tribe."
The first mate translated it truthfully.
Upon hearing this, the chieftain looked flustered and said urgently, "Bengka..."
The first mate said, "The tribe they are in a Bitter Remonstrance with is extremely brutal; please believe me."
Liu Zheng said to the first mate, "Take a team of men and go see that chieftain."
The first mate nodded, and after exchanging a few more words with the chieftain, the chieftain nodded and called over a young man from their tribe to lead the first mate to see the other tribe.
Considering safety, Liu Zheng took the remaining Longyan Soldiers back onto the Supply Ship.
Having witnessed the firearms in Liu Zheng's hands, the natives did not dare to stop them and let them return to the Supply Ship.
Not long after, the first mate walked over with the chieftain of the other tribe.
Behind him followed a large group of people.
They called themselves the Dikaka Tribe.
Seeing people with decorations similar to those of the Siwadike Tribe approaching, Liu Zheng led a team of Longyan Soldiers off the Supply Ship.
The first mate said to Liu Zheng, "The chieftain of the Dikaka Tribe has been complaining to me the whole way about the crimes of the Siwadike Tribe people; they all want to obtain something called a panacea."
"The battle between the two tribes has been going on for a long time, sir; we cannot mediate such a Bitter Remonstrance."
Liu Zheng, however, shook his head: "I know, but first mate, look at the Muskets in our hands..."
