Chapter 1889: Finalizing the Ultimate Plan

~7 min read 1,255 words

Everyone fell into silence; just as Nashadier said, they were facing an enemy with equal troop strength and superior Weaponry and Equipment.

They had no Method they could propose.

In their view, no matter how such a battle plan was formulated, it would end in total defeat.

The situation from the last ambush on the French troops at the granary could not possibly be repeated in this assault.

Shawn also fell into thought; although he could analyze this much, he actually did not have a clear battle plan.

It was precisely because of this that he had not voiced his thoughts during the discussion just now.

Nashadier scanned everyone, marked the locations of the three Outposts on the map, nodded, and said, "The total troop strength of these three Outposts is six thousand men."

"That is to say, no matter how many troops they have, it will not exceed this figure."

"But in actual calculation, the most likely troop strength for this Outpost will not exceed three thousand, as the French troops could not possibly send one or two hundred men to guard the other Outposts."

"Suppose we attack the unit on the far right with six thousand men."

"If hidden well enough, with our force of six thousand attacking this Outpost, how much time do you think we would have to wipe them out, or how much time until we see the French troops?"

Upon hearing this, Shawn's expression stiffened. Looking at the map, an idea emerged, and he murmured, "This is not a battle between evenly matched forces at all, but a battle of crushing troop superiority!"

Seeing that Shawn had realized it, Nashadier said, "Shawn, what do you think our battle plan should be? You should be able to give me an answer now, right?"

Shawn nodded vigorously: "Absolutely no problem."

"Very well, you tell them."

Everyone looked at Shawn in unison. Shawn said in a deep voice, "Actually, we were wrong from the moment we learned the enemy had a force of nine thousand."

"Their nine thousand troops are not concentrated, but scattered across four locations separated by about fifty kilometers."

"Perhaps the French intelligence on us is still stuck at the level where our troops only number five thousand."

"Information asymmetry is our greatest advantage. We send six thousand men to attack their leftmost Outpost; that will be a battle where our troop strength crushes theirs."

"And the result of being raided by so many of our troops is that the enemy might mistakenly believe we are the main force of the attack, and the troops from the other two Outposts will move to attack us at that time."

"And those two Outposts are forty-three kilometers and seventy-five kilometers away from us respectively; they will not arrive at the same time."

"And this marching time is enough for us to annihilate the troops at the left Outpost; for the remaining troops that arrive, we only need to contain them."

"Our other unit will be able to attack the Weapon Depot from the far right."

"This is a two-front war!"

After hearing Shawn's explanation, everyone was suddenly enlightened.

Nashadier added from the side: "Trading time for space is the core of this tactic."

Henry thought for a moment and raised a different perspective: "I have a question."

"Please speak," Shawn said.

"If we attack the leftmost Outpost and the French troops don't take the bait, what then?"

Shawn's expression froze; he had indeed not thought of this question.

Nashadier laughed and said, "If that is the case, after our troops wipe out the French troops at the leftmost Outpost, we will directly attack the Weapon Depot."

"Based on our remaining troop strength, we will also be able to take the Weapon Depot."

"And at this time, the other unit will tie down the French troops."

"The advantage in troop strength is with us. No matter how we fight, our troop strength occupies an absolute advantage; against any single unit, we have enough strength to crush them."

Henry nodded; that was indeed the case.

This battle plan was finally finalized.

Nashadier looked at Shawn and said, "During this period, you have made significant progress in studying tactics. This time, Shawn, you will lead the Second Unit."

"Henry, you will provide Assistance to Shawn's operation."

Henry nodded and did not refuse this matter.

Shawn, however, was stunned: "Why, Nashadier? I believe Henry is more qualified than I am to command this battle."

Nashadier smiled and said, "In Longyan, there is an idiom called 'talking about war on paper.' It tells of a gifted general who was very formidable in commanding battles, and he had a son who inherited his strengths."

"But having never experienced war, he could only command battles on paper. When he finally encountered a real war, it was all too late."

"Because of his improper command, he died on the battlefield. It was not that his talent was poor, but that he had not experienced real combat and did not understand the ever-changing nature of the battlefield."

"Do you understand?"

Shawn was lost in thought. Nashadier patted his shoulder and added, "Besides, Henry is here; he will help you make the right choices."

Only then did Shawn nod, indicating he understood.

Nashadier turned and left.

The battle plan had been formulated, and for these three days, the joint forces of Egypt began their respective preparations.

Over these two months, the troops had not only expanded but also acquired more Weaponry and Equipment.

However, most people were still holding cold weapons in their hands; Muskets and Cannon were in extreme shortage.

But for this battle, Nashadier could be said to have staked everything he had, bringing out a great many Muskets and Cannon.

The goal was to crush the French troops.

It was called a crushing of troop strength, but no matter how many troops there were, without these Muskets, it would still be incomparably difficult to wipe out the French troops.

During these few days, Marina nestled by Nashadier's side, hoping that she could let Nashadier feel more of her warmth.

Nashadier did not refuse.

During these three days, Shawn thought of Ailina, Marina's sister, his wife.

Thinking of the things he had done behind her back before, he felt immense shame.

Even more, he could not forget the intimacy Ailina shared with him and the words she urged upon him when he left.

Shawn thought of the end of the war every moment, but for now, he could not return to the comfort of home.

A battle had to be fought, and the French had not left.

And three days later would be the first battle he commanded.

Henry, however, began to worry about the situation in Wahala; when he left, the Wahala Tribe's Commander Harris held great power.

He did not know what the Wahala Tribe had turned into now.

According to the news he had gathered, Harris had found tribes around their own and organized troops under the pretext of an uprising.

He intended to drive all outsiders out of Egypt.

Using this pretext, Harris attacked other tribes that did not submit to him, which simply violated the Warrior's creed.

If this continued, the Wahala Tribe would sooner or later be ruined in Harris's hands, but the current Henry had no Method to return and set things right!
