Chapter 1926: The Wager

~7 min read 1,288 words

Harris locked his gaze onto Henry, his eyes sharp and fierce.

Henry frowned deeply, seemingly intimidated by his aura.

Nashadier stepped forward and said, "We don't know what you have been through, but you are indeed raising your butcher's knife against our compatriots now!"

"With you like this, you don't even deserve the title of Warrior; what face do you have to call yourself a Commander!"

Harris withdrew his gaze, looked at Nashadier, and stood up; his massive frame almost seemed to burst the military tent open.

He walked down from above and stared straight at Nashadier.

"You have also never experienced the terror of the French; if you haven't had the same experiences as me, you would absolutely never say such things."

He turned and roared at Henry: "Henry, do you know what the end was for the fiercest warrior of our Wahala Tribe, your father!"

"He was beaten to death by the French!"

"I collected his body; at the time, he was kneeling on the ground as if begging for mercy, and there wasn't a single bone left intact in his entire body—they were all shattered. Do you know what that means!"

A boom echoed in Henry's brain, as if he had been struck by lightning.

He stared at Harris in disbelief: "Impossible, the chieftain of our Wahala Tribe would absolutely not die in such a humiliating posture!"

Harris let out a bitter laugh: "If I hadn't witnessed the entire process, I wouldn't believe it was true either."

"The expression you have right now is exactly the same as mine was back then, hahaha..."

Harris let out two bitter laughs, looked at the others, and added: "And among those chieftains who refused to cooperate, this way of dying is still considered a good one."

"I have seen even more cruel and terrifying methods; believe me, you absolutely do not want to see such a death."

Henry was submerged in the grief of his father's death, unable to extricate himself.

Nashadier glanced at him, looked at Harris, and said in a deep voice: "Put this act away; someone like you who fears death so much cannot be called a Warrior at all!"

"Shut up!"

Harris pointed his finger at Nashadier and said angrily: "How could someone like you know what I have been through!"

"And how could you understand the terror of the French!"

Nashadier looked at Harris's finger, his hand resting on a certain spot at his waist: "Don't you want to know the answer?"

"Didn't you say that I don't know what you have been through?"

"Fine, then I will prove it to you right now!"

Immediately after, Nashadier took a side step and pressed against Harris's side; he had no time to react at all.

Henry was stunned, watching Nashadier aim an incredibly sharp blade at Harris's vital point.

"Now I can tell you that you are no longer a Warrior," Nashadier said coldly.

Harris laughed and said calmly: "What is this considered now?"

"Are you threatening me?"

"Look at the blade in your hand; it is so small, what harm can it do to us?"

"Surely you don't intend to kill me with this knife, do you?"

Nashadier revealed a smile: "You can try."

Just at this moment, Harris suddenly exerted his strength, turned his body to avoid Nashadier's sharp blade, and slammed both hands toward Nashadier's face.

Henry's expression was one of great shock; he did not expect Harris to suddenly attack.

He hurriedly drew the sidearm from his waist and aimed it at Harris's head.

But the moment he drew his gun, the struggle was already nearing its end.

Henry watched the situation reverse; Harris's vital point was already being pressed by the sharp blade, only this time it had moved from the abdomen to the neck.

He should have thought earlier that Nashadier's martial arts were extremely outstanding; he had once sparred with Nashadier.

Harris looked at the sharp blade pressed against his vital point once more, his face icy cold; he

stared at Nashadier.

Nashadier smiled and said: "It seems you still want to try again."

"Yes, that's right!"

As the words fell, the two fought together once more; this time, the result still ended in Nashadier's victory.

Nashadier said faintly: "Harris, you might think I am joking with you, but just now you have already died at my hands three times."

"It is easy for me to kill you, and I can tell you that your troops are no match for me."

"For troops with no military discipline and no faith, it is simply too easy for me to defeat them. If you don't believe it, I can prove it to you!"

Although Harris was subdued, he laughed loudly, not feeling the threat of death at all.

"I have to say, Nashadier, you have a talent for telling jokes."

"My troops have twice the manpower of yours, and even in terms of Weaponry and Equipment, we are stronger than you. What do you have to fight me with?"

Nashadier also laughed, and Henry looked calm.

The last general who was this arrogant in front of Nashadier saw their Insurgent Army defeated by him despite being outnumbered.

Now his head is still placed on the Scale of Good and Evil of the Anubis statue.

"We can try and see; once I defeat your troops, you are welcome to join us."

Harris sneered: "Fine, then come on."

"But before you defeat us, you should first think about how to get out."

Harris suddenly attacked, broke free from Nashadier's control, and ran toward the door.

Harris shouted loudly at the doorway, which undoubtedly alerted the guards.

But by the time the guards rushed over, Nashadier had vanished like a phantom.

They never found a trace of Nashadier again.

Half a day passed, and Nashadier, Henry, and another soldier of the Resistance Army had long since arrived outside and were rushing back to their stronghold.

Henry looked at Nashadier and said in a deep voice, "The gap between our troops and Harris's troops is so large, how can we win this war?"

"Besides, this is against the troops of Egypt; honestly, there are quite a few Warriors from our Wahala Tribe among them."

"I don't know how to command this battle."

Nashadier glanced at Henry and said, "Indecisiveness is not something a Warrior of your Wahala Tribe would do."

"This doesn't seem like your style."

Henry sighed and remained silent.

Ever since he learned the news of his father's death today, Henry had been somewhat dejected, especially in his current state; he was not fit to continue fighting.

At the mere thought of swinging the blade in his hand toward his own tribesmen, Henry felt not a shred of spirit; he could not bring himself to do such a thing.

Nashadier naturally knew what Henry's worry was.

"Henry, war is just like this; we have no Method to go against the principles of victory, but before the battle is won, I will try any way to prevent it from happening."

"That is the reason why I agreed to it."

"Although hope cannot be seen, it is still much better than having no hope at all, right?"

Henry looked at Nashadier, not expecting this madman to express such sentiments.

Henry nodded and said, "I think what you said is right."

He sighed and stopped thinking about this matter.

With the starry night as their companion, they set out toward dawn in the darkness, but before dawn arrives, not many people know whether their direction in the long darkness is correct.
