Chapter 614: Longyun Games

Jiang Xuan's spirits lifted.

He stood where he was, waiting for orders.

It was time to do some real work... This trip to Jinghua had truly bored him to tears.

Liu Zheng instructed: "First, send this letter to the gentleman, telling him to step up Liangzhou military preparations, especially the production of Yinzhou ships—remember, unlimited production! Second, the training of talent at the Military Academy must be accelerated; establish a crash course for generals with at least a hundred people to prepare for the unexpected! Third, send a letter to Ling Chen to recruit troops in the Western Regions—recruit, recruit, recruit!"

"Yes!"

Jiang Xuan received the order, and Liu Zheng gave a few more specific instructions before letting him leave.

War preparations!

Liangzhou and the Western Regions both needed war preparations!

According to Mire's description, this Ottoman Empire was currently at its peak, with an army reaching two million!

This was absolutely a terrifying number!

Yet, ridiculously, everyone in the current Longyan Dynasty seemed completely unaware of the existence of such a terrifying entity as the Ottoman Empire.

However...

Liu Zheng was actually not afraid.

Because he knew one principle: prosperity leads to decline!

Don't look at the Ottoman Empire in its prime now; soon, they would face the first Waterloo of their period of strength. In this Waterloo, European nations and the Ottoman Empire would jointly sign the Karlowitz Treaty, and from then on, the land controlled by the Ottoman Empire Sultan would become less and less...

Liu Zheng even believed.

The current Ottoman Empire had actually already begun to decline.

Why?

Because they were eager to wipe out the Arab Exile Government, which was largely to divert domestic conflicts.

It could even be said that this was inevitable.

Only when internal stability is lacking does one seek a Method to find balance from the outside. A country has always been like this since ancient times.

Opportunity!

Amidst the risks, Liu Zheng also saw opportunity.

The current Europe was also quite lively! On the issue of development, Liu Zheng had always wanted to consolidate the domestic front and expand outward. First, this would not lead to the collapse of the Longyan Dynasty, and with no fire in his own backyard, he could act recklessly outside. Second, he did not intend to seize the imperial power; he liked development, liked fighting, and liked strategy, but he really did not like being that unfree Emperor...

Damn it!

At this moment, he had almost no choice.

Even if he had to fight on four fronts, he had nothing to fear!

Longyun Games?

Just as Jiang Xuan had left Jinghua, a public notice from the Hanlin Academy made the whole city boil over once again.

The second stage of the Princess's public selection of a husband was the Longyun Games!

People were first surprised: what were the Longyun Games?

"A brand new, peaceful, fair, and just sports competition!"

Then people were confused again.

What was a Sports Meet?

What was sports?

The Hanlin Academy was also very patient, explaining it clearly on the notice.

Sports is a complex social and cultural phenomenon! It uses physical and intellectual activities as basic means, according to the laws of human growth, development, skill formation, and functional improvement, to achieve a conscious, purposeful, and organized social activity that promotes comprehensive development, improves physical fitness and overall quality, enhances physique and athletic ability, improves lifestyle, and increases quality of life!

Based on the Emperor's love for peace and pursuit of fairness and justice, the Hanlin Academy designed this activity that can measure a country's and society's development and progress! This activity would also become an important means for diplomacy and cultural exchange between nations!

Look at that!

High-end!

The wording of the Hanlin Academy was just that sharp.

"Sports Meet?"

"Sports competition?"

However, where had people in this era ever heard of this? They were still completely baffled, discussing it endlessly.

"The specific events are tentatively set as: Cuju, Go, close-quarters combat, long-distance running, sprinting, Weightlifting..."

At this, the people were in an uproar.

So it was these things?

But... weren't these things only found in the army? Who among the common people did these things normally! Now people understood; so the events were still those used in military training, just conducted in a competitive way?

With peaceful competition, rather than malicious confrontation?

This was new!

"Hahahaha, this sounds fun!"

"How do you play this?"

"Is this what Governor Liu came up with? It is fair enough!"

The people of Jinghua continued their heated discussions.

This news spread throughout all of Jinghua in an instant. On this day, everything the people of Jinghua discussed was this second stage, the Longyun Games!

However.

The chief planner of this Longyun Games was Gu Jin, not Governor Liu.

But this did not affect Governor Liu's influence in this matter at all!

Because...

This tournament will be exclusively sponsored by the "Yinzhou Chamber of Commerce"! For every event, a champion, runner-up, and second runner-up will be determined! And these three rankings will receive rewards in order: a Gold Medal, a Silver Medal, and a Bronze Medal! All these expenses will be provided entirely by the Yinzhou Chamber of Commerce!

The slogan for this Longyun Games is.

Love and peace!

The spirit of the Longyun Games is.

Faster, higher, stronger!

Everyone was stunned.

Regardless of whether it is gold, silver, or bronze, in ancient times, these were all hard currency!

This made people even more excited.

There is prize money to be won too?

Quite a few people have already begun to rub their hands and prepare.

I can do this!

I want to go try this!

……

"Fair?"

Gu Jin let out a snort, and the tea in her mouth nearly sprayed out.

Fair?

You all don't know just how treacherous this Prefect Liu is! When this guy was designing these events and the rules, he calculated them meticulously... At first glance, this is a competition of physical fitness, but in reality?

When the time comes!

You will know!

Scumbag!

This is a total scumbag!

A scumbag who is incredibly, craftily treacherous!

……

Once the rules of the Longyun Games were released, they immediately triggered a wave of excitement throughout Jinghua City.

Because it was stated above that……

This Longyun Games will be participated in by the Longyan Delegation and the Eighteen Envoys Delegation, with fifty people each. The winner will be determined based on the final count of Gold and Silver Medals. And this Longyan Delegation will be led by Prefect Liu, and furthermore, he will participate in at least three of the events……

What is even more important is coming.

The winner will not only be able to use this as an important criterion for marrying Longyang Princess, but also, regardless of which countries are at war during this stage of the Longyun Games, the winner will be able to unilaterally demand that the loser cease hostilities to seek peace!

This is the right that belongs to the winner!

If the losing side does not agree, they will face sanctions from the Longyun Games Committee!

At this, it was not just the Longyan people who were excited.

Li Xuanya, the eldest princess of Joseon, upon seeing this, immediately gathered everyone in her delegation and said excitedly: "We are saved, we are saved!"

The others were also exceptionally excited.

Win!

They must win!

……

"Hahahaha, does this mean that as long as we win, not only can we take Longyang Princess away, but we can also wipe out Joseon, and no one will stop us?"

A single Longyun Games made everyone's minds become active.

Mizuno Masashige was even more ambitious.

Before this, he led his family retainers to attack Joseon, but he never dared to wipe out Joseon because the Sovereign State of Joseon is Longyan! But now……

"Hahahaha!"

"Congratulations, my lord!"

"Felicitations, my lord!"

"This is a double blessing!"

A group of family retainers were offering congratulations on the side.

Mizuno Masashige looked full of confidence and said proudly: "Hahahaha, has the vast Longyan fallen to this point? Using this kind of children's game to fool us? It seems the time for our Wa nation to rise has arrived!"

"Rise!"

"Kill!"

"Double kill Prefect Liu!"
