Chapter 133: The More I See Her, The More I Like Her
Quan Quan Qingle roared from the side: "He He Donghai, hit her, beat her to death!"
Someone in the crowd shouted: "How can this person be like this? Drive her out."
Immediately, everyone began to discuss, voices condemning Jiahe Junzhu rising continuously.
Jiahe Junzhu was about to die of anger; before she could speak, she saw He He Donghai walking toward her.
He He Donghai had wanted to hit someone for a long time; he walked toward Jiahe Junzhu without hesitation. Jiahe Junzhu did not believe He He Donghai would really dare to touch her; she remained arrogant, looking at him provocatively, a mocking smile curling her lips, and shouted loudly:
"He He Donghai, do you dare touch me?"
Unexpectedly, He He Donghai showed no mercy at all; before Jiahe Junzhu could react, He He Donghai grabbed her arm and yanked her down from the horse.
Jiahe Junzhu crashed heavily to the ground, dust flying up.
Everyone around sucked in a sharp breath; surely that fall was not light?
But quickly, a cheer erupted from the crowd: "Well done!" Some even clapped and cheered.
Jiahe Junzhu scrambled up in a disheveled state, her eyes full of rage; she struggled to fight back, but where was she a match for He He Donghai? He He Donghai tossed her aside like a little chicken and roared: "If Jiahe Junzhu causes trouble again, do not blame me for being impolite."
Seeing Jun Jun Zijin ignored the surrounding noise completely and, with undivided focus, inserted golden needles into the Renzhong, Yongquan, and other acupoints on He Ling'er's body; after a moment, He Ling'er slowly opened her eyes. Seeing Jun Jun Zijin let out a long sigh, and the tension in her heart dissipated with it.
He Ling'er, however, stared blankly for a long while, her gaze locked tightly on Seeing Jun Jun Zijin's face. Her eyes first showed confusion, as if searching for fragments of memory, then shock, as if seeing something incredible, then turned to joy, tears glistening in her eyes. She opened her mouth and said:
"Jun Jun Zijin, is it really you? I am Ling'er!"
While speaking, He Ling'er made a heart shape with her hands toward Seeing Jun Jun Zijin.
Seeing Jun Jun Zijin's memories were like yellowed old photographs; a light touch released the scent of years. Another world floated before her eyes, the campus she once knew, sunlight spilling over a lush green playground, a group of youthful faces shining brilliantly under the sun.
Seeing Jun Jun Zijin's head buzzed with a "weng" sound, as if an electric current passed through her body.
Her heart skipped a beat, and she said with joy:
"Ling'er, are you really Ling'er?"
Seeing Jun Jun Zijin and the Ling'er from that world were classmates and roommates, friends for over ten years. Seeing Jun Jun Zijin's heart raced, her eyes flashing with disbelief. She looked at He Ling'er; this close friend was right before her eyes, yet it seemed as if several worlds separated them.
He Ling'er's tears slid down her cheeks; their two hands gripped tightly, as if afraid this was all a dream. They faced each other in silence, only smiling, their eyes filled with one another. The passage of time seemed to freeze in this moment, and the entire world became infinitely beautiful.
The two women's memories were like two intertwining rivers merging at this very moment. Seeing Jun Jun Zijin remembered the Ling'er from that world; they had whispered secrets late at night, shared laughter on sunny days, played pranks on others in the park behind the school, stayed up late studying together the night before exams, and watched a horror movie together in the hospital duty room.
Who could have thought that both of them had come to this world?
He He Donghai stood aside, watching this scene, his heart full of confusion. Perhaps Ling'er was confused due to her injury, but Seeing Jun Jun Zijin's reaction left him baffled.
Seeing Jun Jun Zijin suddenly realized; exchanging a glance with Ling'er, this was not the place to talk.
She smiled slightly, breaking the silence: "Ling'er walked through the Gate of Ghosts; we can still meet, so we are a bit excited, making you all laugh at us." Seeing Jun Jun Zijin said, seeming somewhat embarrassed.
This reason was reasonable enough and made everyone present feel relieved.
He Ling'er, somewhat weakly, said to He He Donghai: "Brother, I am fine; a few days of rest will cure me."
He He Donghai's tightly furrowed brows finally relaxed, and he let out a long breath. Seeing Jun Jun Zijin and the others were preparing to help He Ling'er leave when they were interrupted by a sharp voice; Jiahe Junzhu approached again, her voice mocking and cruel:
"Yo, the He family's good-for-nothing has just woken up and wants to leave?"
Jiahe Junzhu's purpose was to humiliate He Ling'er, making her a laughingstock before everyone; it would be even better if she was broken and disabled. Unexpectedly, the crowd felt more sympathy for He Ling'er's plight; her plan not only failed to embarrass He Ling'er but instead let another enemy gain all the attention, while she herself became a laughingstock. How could she be willing to let them leave?
Seeing Jun Jun Zijin's face instantly grew cold; she gently held He Ling'er's arm, her fingertips applying slight pressure, her voice icy and devoid of emotion: "Does Jiahe Junzhu feel that the sensation of being twisted out earlier was not exciting enough?"
Quan Quan Qingle also shouted loudly: "Wen Jiahe, are your skin itching, wanting a beating?"
The crowd instantly became chaotic; some joined in the heckling: "Hit her, hit her."
Those voices were mixed with schadenfreude and the excitement of watching a spectacle.
Jiahe Junzhu's face turned iron-green, her eyes full of anger and unwillingness. She hated most when people called her "Wen Jiahe"; this name seemed like a thorn in her heart, and every time it was mentioned, it made her feel utterly humiliated.
Just as Jiahe Junzhu was about to raise the horsewhip in her hand, she saw He He Donghai making a move to strike her; Jiahe Junzhu, who had already suffered at He He Donghai's hands, was so frightened that she stopped her action dead in its tracks.
Seeing Jun Jun Zijin's lip twitched; indeed, birds of a feather flock together; Quan Quan Aoyu hit women, and his friend He He Donghai was equally ungentle toward women.
Just then, He Ling'er gently raised her hand, stopping He He Donghai's action, and said:
"Brother, I will take revenge on this grudge myself, but not now."
Jiahe Junzhu was furious at how arrogant the group was, but she was not too stupid; she clearly understood that it was not the right time to make a scene again, or the situation would become even more unfavorable for her. She could only watch helplessly as the group walked past her.
The Emperor and Empress stood at a high vantage point, silently observing all of this. The Emperor's brows furrowed slightly, a displeasure flashing in his eyes. The Empress sighed lightly, feeling even more dislike for the daughter-in-law chosen by this fifth son, and said:
"How can such a woman enter our Imperial family?"
The Emperor snorted coldly:
"Hmph, the An Jun Wang Fu is becoming increasingly unreasonable."
"As for this child, Jun Jun Zijin, this palace likes her more and more the more I see her."
The Empress smiled on her face and said:
"When others possess unique skills, they would rather clutch them tightly in their hands, fearing others will learn them and they will lose their leverage; Jun Jun Zijin never cares about her own gains or losses, thinking only of seeking welfare for all people under heaven."
The Empress paused, her voice becoming even softer.
"This palace has heard that she not only developed a vaccine to eliminate smallpox but also immediately presented this life-saving formula to the court. Even more rare is that she also presented the secret technique for smelting stainless steel; such a broad mind is truly rare in the world."
