Chapter 102: Is This Team Rocket? A Bit Extreme
"What is this?"
Cynthia played with this beautiful gold badge, noticing Iris's strange gaze, and the smile on her face faded slightly.
"It represents your status and position." Mamon leisurely took a sip of juice.
"As long as you accept it, your status within the organization will be second only to me and the Boss. Whether it is the Four Generals, the Three Beasts, the Three Executives, or any other senior executive, none will outrank you. And once I become the Boss, you will be second only to me and above all others. How about that?"
Mamon looked at Cynthia and spoke.
"Even Iris has not yet obtained this badge; her team has not fully reached Champion level. You are the first top executive I have invited within the entire organization."
Hearing Mamon's words, the private room instantly fell silent.
Magcargo stared at Cynthia in shock; she was not foolish, and having once been a scientist, she was actually quite intelligent.
The treatment Mamon proposed was a bit too good!
What did this mean? It meant Cynthia was absolutely no ordinary person!
Iris scrutinized Cynthia; was this woman really a Champion-level trainer?
Cynthia's eyebrows furrowed slightly, and the cheerful smile that often adorned her face had completely vanished.
"No thanks."
Cynthia placed this gold badge on the table without the slightest reluctance.
She had joined Team Magma for certain purposes; she only wanted to use Team Magma, not truly become a member of an evil organization.
"Why invite me?"
Cynthia's eyes had changed completely at some point, possessing an aggression as fierce as a wild beast.
"Very simple, because you are strong." Mamon slowly set down his teacup.
"That is why I say organizations like Team Magma are useless. This world has always been vast, containing many 'mysteries,' yet Team Magma, with a 'mystery' already descending upon them, remains completely unaware, foolishly pursuing impossible dreams."
Mamon sneered.
Magcargo bit her lip lightly, her gaze fixed tightly on Cynthia; this person...
However, Cynthia paid Magcargo no mind whatsoever.
"The People of the Falling Stars, with a lineage inherited for nearly three thousand years, the people with the longest historical inheritance in the world. And you, Cynthia, as the inheritor of this generation of the People of the Falling Stars, I believe you are fully worthy of this badge."
Mamon finally revealed Cynthia's true identity.
That was right; Cynthia was indeed the inheritor of this generation of the People of the Falling Stars! A Dragon-type Champion-level trainer.
In the game plot, Cynthia prepared to summon Rayquaza at the Sky Pillar to resolve the meteorite within the People of the Falling Stars' prophecy.
She did successfully summon Rayquaza; however, Rayquaza did not recognize her, but instead took a liking to the protagonist, May.
Afterwards, May captured Rayquaza, while Cynthia engaged May in a fierce inheritance battle. After her defeat, she passed the title of Inheritor to May, allowing May to resolve the meteorite crisis.
Cynthia's strength was undoubtedly Champion-level, and even among Champions, she belonged to the relatively outstanding tier. During the Rayquaza plot in the game, May had already defeated Steven and become the new Champion.
Moreover, May had captured Rayquaza, but in "Pokémon Evolutions," Cynthia's ace Mega Salamence could even fight Rayquaza commanded by May to a standstill for a short period.
"How did you know?!" Cynthia's eyes were incredibly wild and sharp.
"That is not important. What matters is that we have no conflict of interest. Whatever you wish to do, the organization can help you."
Mamon smiled at Cynthia.
Cynthia did not answer, merely staring at Mamon, and Mamon met her gaze.
After a while, Cynthia stood up, preparing to leave.
"I must refuse; I have no interest in you, and I hope you do not come to hinder me."
Cynthia said indifferently; originally, she had just wanted to come see some fun, and since her strength was right there, she did not worry about accidents.
But now, things were different.
With her identity exposed, Cynthia was very worried that this dangerous fellow would hinder her; however, starting a fight with this fellow now?
Cynthia did not think this was a good idea; this not-so-old youth was very dangerous, and Cynthia's heart was not that big.
"Oh? Is it because of the mission you bear?"
Mamon spoke with a faint smile.
"You may rest assured; the organization will not stop you, and can even help you achieve your goals faster."
Cynthia remained unmoved; her footsteps unceasing, she had already reached the private room door, her hand on the doorknob.
"Or perhaps other matters you must do, such as... the incident in Johto?"
Cynthia's body instantly stiffened.
The inheritor of the People of the Falling Stars suddenly turned her head, her gaze as cold as ice making one's hair stand on end.
The atmosphere in the private room instantly became tense.
"How do you know?"
Cynthia's low, hoarse voice seemed to be squeezed out of her throat; that had always been her nightmare.
And this so abrupt abnormality also surprised Iris and Magcargo; what matter could cause such a strong change in Cynthia?!
"Team Rocket also has a branch in Johto. Although this matter was concealed very deeply, it just so happens that our people stole a recording from the Johto Pokémon Association, the recording of that great battle at the time."
Mamon paid no mind to Cynthia's gaze and spoke calmly.
He had no intention of poking at someone's wound; after all, this matter was not done by him.
Upon hearing this, Cynthia's breathing clearly became Coarse and Heavy, and her hand unknowingly clenched with a creaking sound.
'Rayquaza Capture Plan'!
This was a tragic incident that occurred years ago at the Burial Tower in the Johto region; Cynthia was actually not the first Inheritor of the current generation.
The original Inheritor was Cynthia's sister, Shizuka. To deal with the prophecy of her clan, Shizuka left the Meteor Fall with her mission that year.
And she found Rayquaza at the Burial Tower in Johto; Rayquaza recognized Shizuka, and Shizuka, using a large number of Key Stones, successfully caused Rayquaza to Mega Evolve.
Originally, if there were no accidents, Shizuka and Mega Rayquaza could wait for the meteorite to arrive, and then destroy it to resolve this prophetic crisis.
Yet human greed knows no bottom.
Funded by the Bellicose family of Sinnoh, with technical support from Devon Corporation of Hoenn and Mega Mauville Holdings, the "Rayquaza Capture Project" executed by the Johto Pokémon Association was launched.
They arrived at the Buried Tower and began capturing Rayquaza; the result was that Shijana failed to break out, died a gruesome death on the spot, and Rayquaza escaped.
When Shijana arrived later at the Buried Tower, she saw the devastation there and, overwhelmed by grief, temporarily lost the ability to speak.
Later, Shijana pulled herself together; she inherited Shijana's Mega Brace, inherited Shijana's Swellow, and inherited her mission. Shijana became the new successor.
"The Buried Tower was built by your Meteor People to provide a resting place for Rayquaza, yet in the end it became the burial ground for the Meteor People's successors. How ironic~"
Mamon sneered; it was truly a sigh-worthy matter.
The Meteor People were a clan that worshipped Rayquaza, regarding Rayquaza as a deity and respectfully addressing him as "Dragon God my lord." They single-handedly built the sacred Gao Ta, Sky Pillar, and the Buried Tower.
Yet the clan's successor actually died in battle at the Buried Tower.
"Silence!"
Shijana angrily cut Mamon off, her figure heaving violently.
"What exactly do you want to say?"
Shijana struggled to control her surging emotions, even though several years had passed.
She still could not forget; whenever she recalled the devastation at the Buried Tower, she would wake from her dreams in terror. That nightmare-like memory always followed her like a shadow.
"I can help you. Our Team Rocket can help you."
Mamon grinned, slowly rose to his feet, walked to stand before Shijana, and spoke to her in a low voice.
"Help me?"
Shijana let out a cold laugh.
"What can you do for me? Mega Mauville Company has already collapsed. Will you help me take down the Sinnoh Bellicose family? Or help me bring down Devon Corporation? Or perhaps take out the Johto Pokémon Association?"
Shijana mocked. She knew Team Rocket was the overlord of the dark world in the Kanto region, but so what?
Caitlin's beautiful brows furrowed slightly. Good heavens!!
As the Young Lady of a prestigious family in the Sinnoh region, Caitlin's family was also quite famous throughout Sinnoh.
But compared to the Bellicose family... it truly couldn't compare.
The Bellicose family was the wealthiest aristocratic house in the Sinnoh region, with a two-hundred-year history, and its family fortune spanned every field.
Moreover, several members within the family were renowned scholars in the field of Pokémon research. Caitlin had also heard that the Young Lady of this generation of the Bellicose family dreamed of becoming the Sinnoh Champion and had already set out on her journey this year.
It was said that this Bellicose Young Lady possessed extraordinary talent and had been a child prodigy since childhood.
As for Devon Corporation, there was no need to say more; Devon Corporation was one of the world's strongest corporate giants, and the former Hoenn Champion, Steven Stone, was the son of Devon's president, Mr. Stone.
In the entire Hoenn region, aside from the Hoenn League, Devon Corporation was the behemoth!
As for the Johto Pokémon Association, it was nothing particularly impressive, but the Pokémon Association was backed by the Kanto League!
The Johto Pokémon Association was the department responsible for managing trainers and Gyms in the Johto area. Currently, Kanto and Johto had not yet split, so the Johto Pokémon Association was equivalent to a secondary-level Johto League!
There had always been news that the Kanto and Johto regions were simply too vast for the Kanto League to manage conveniently, and there were plans to separate Johto.
And once the Johto region became independent, the Johto Pokémon Association would naturally be elevated to the Johto League.
So strictly speaking, the Johto Pokémon Association was the most untouchable of these three forces! Because provoking the Johto Pokémon Association was equivalent to provoking the Kanto League!
Caitlin was astonished; Shijana's enemy lineup was simply too "luxurious."
"Any of them."
Mamon replied so quickly that Shijana was momentarily stunned.
"What did you say?" Shijana seemed somewhat unable to believe it.
"Any of them. Is there a problem?" Mamon raised an eyebrow and countered.
"..." Shijana was left speechless.
"The Bellicose family, Devon Corporation, and the Pokémon Association are indeed troublesome, but as long as you and I act together, taking them down is not a particularly difficult matter."
Mamon casually added another sentence.
"You..." Shijana was shocked; she felt Mamon's tone was as casual as eating or drinking water.
But that was wrong.
"Aren't you afraid of being targeted by the Pokémon League?"
"I am Team Rocket. Are you asking me if I'm afraid of the Pokémon League??"
Mamon was amused, his tone very calm.
"How about it, Shijana? I am very sincere. As long as you join Team Rocket, I can accompany you to Rustboro City today and blow up Devon Corporation's headquarters building. What do you think?"
"Or perhaps head to Sinnoh or Johto and level the Bellicose family estate and the Pokémon Association?"
Hearing Mamon speak the words of a terrorist in such a calm tone, Shijana remained silent. Although she didn't know what to say, she genuinely felt.
This guy in front of her seemed a bit too extreme!
Is this Team Rocket?
Side Story
Mamon: Big commotion? Are we going now? I love big commotions! (Excited. jpg)
Shijana: Mamon, don't be like that. I'm scared.
