Chapter 13: What Are You Acting So Arrogant About!

~7 min read 1,240 words

The entire mansion fell silent after Mamon finished speaking.

"What did you say?"

Coming to his senses, Burmali's face turned ugly; he looked at Mamon in disbelief and retorted.

What did he just say?

Burmali even thought he had misheard.

"I made myself clear, didn't I?" Mamon crossed his legs, looking at Burmali leisurely and smiling.

"I want your Skull Team to merge into our Rocket Team. Did you hear me this time?"

Insane!!!

Caitlin quietly gripped a Poké Ball with her right hand, ready for battle at any moment.

Mamon's behavior at this moment was no different from shitting on the heads of the Skull Team members; he was arrogant to the extreme.

And obviously, the people of the Skull Team had indeed heard Mamon's words this time, and they heard them clearly.

"F***!!"

"You arrogant brat! Big Sister, get him!"

"Damn it! I've lived twenty years and never seen anyone this arrogant!"

"Who do you think you're talking to, you bastard!"

Before Burmali could speak, the Skull Team members couldn't hold back; some with violent tempers even threw out Poké Balls, ready to rush forward and kill this arrogant brat.

For a moment, the scene was extremely chaotic.

"So noisy."

Mamon frowned slightly.

"Caitlin."

The intelligent Caitlin naturally understood Mamon's meaning; blue light lit up in her eyes.

A flash of Bai Guang passed, and Metagross Weight landed heavily in front.

"Mita!"

Metagross Weight growled lowly, and a massive surge of Psychic power poured out.

Psychic!

A powerful Psychic wave surged out as a shockwave, directly blasting the Pokémon of those Skull Team subordinates away with heavy force.

Although Caitlin's current strength had not yet reached the level of her time as a member of the Unova Elite Four, her ace, Metagross Weight, was already at the Elite Four level.

Dealing with these Skull Team members was completely an easy matter.

Intense wind and waves spread everywhere, making the noisy scene even more chaotic, but when Psychic ended, the mansion fell silent again.

Those Skull Team members looked at that imposing Metagross Weight with fear.

"I hate useless people who only bark randomly. If you still like to shout, then come to the front, okay?"

Mamon swept his gaze around, completely ignoring these people; his smile remained as polite as ever.

Damn it!! He actually called us useless!

A few Skull Team members with some blood in their veins glared angrily at Mamon and stepped forward directly.

"You brat! Who do you think you are, looking down on us..."

The leader obviously refused to lose momentum, but before he could finish speaking...

"Not bad. It seems you few are a little stronger than useless people. Caitlin, just leave them half a life. Broken arms and legs don't matter; the hospital can cure them."

Mamon clapped politely and reminded Caitlin at the same time.

"I understand." Caitlin nodded with a full smile.

Hearing this, these few Skull Team members, whose anger had risen to their hearts, retreated one step in perfect unison and swallowed hard.

No way, is it this cruel? Half a life at the drop of a hat??

"Enough! You all step back."

Burmali finally spoke.

"Big Sister!"

These few Skull Team members obviously were not very willing, but after Burmali shot them a glare, the few of them still retreated.

"How about it? Lady, have you thought it over?"

Mamon paid no attention to these few small minions and looked at Burmali.

"Lord Mamon, I admit that our Skull Team is indeed inferior to your Rocket Team, but demanding us to merge into you right from the start is too much, isn't it?"

Burmali said in a cold voice.

"And this is Alola, not your Kanto region!"

Merge into the Rocket Team? Absolutely impossible!

People need face, and trees need bark; at least our Skull Team has a name and reputation on this land of Alola.

"Yes, this is Alola. And then? What do you want to express?"

Mamon asked with interest.

"Lord Mamon, mutual destruction is not the result you want either, is it?" Burmali said in a deep voice.

"Hah?"

Mamon emitted a question mark sound.

Burmali's face and eyes became even uglier because after Mamon realized what was happening, he was actually laughing, and he even laughed out loud!

"Pfft hahaha, sorry, sorry, Lady. Your level of telling jokes is unexpectedly good."

After laughing for a while, Mamon's expression slowly settled; he straightened his posture again, leaned back in his chair, and sized up the gloomy-faced Burmali from top to bottom.

"I'd really like to ask you, miss—how exactly can you believe that the likes of your Skeleton Squad trash could ever wound our Rocket Squad in a mutual slaughter?"

Mamon had completely stopped bothering to pretend, sneering as he taunted.

"You—"

Boolmeili flared up on the spot, and the surrounding Skeleton Squad members were furious as well.

Anyone would be angry at being called "trash" straight to their face, wouldn't they?

"Hold it! Don't get worked up yet."

Mamon raised a hand, gesturing for Boolmeili to calm down a little.

"Drop the 'you-you-you' stuttering. I'll tell you straight—today we didn't come here to negotiate with you. We came to give you a notice."

Mamon said flatly.

"Either surrender to us, or today the few of us will level your Skeleton Squad. Those are your only two options."

Boolmeili gritted her teeth and glared at the domineering Mamon. Two choices?

Never in her wildest dreams had she imagined that their Skeleton Squad was just scraping by on their own little patch of land in Alola, and now a fierce, man-eating tiger had crossed the sea to come after them.

"Damn!"

"You brat, you think we—"

Public sentiment boiled over—clearly, the Skeleton Squad members couldn't hold back again.

"One more peep and I'll cut out every last tongue among you!"

Lance's bone-chilling voice rang out instantly. With the hiss of a serpent's forked tongue, a large deep-purple cobra slithered forward slowly, fixing the Skeleton Squad members with a cold stare.

Silence!

The Skeleton Squad members went quiet on the spot, aggrieved and furious, but Lance's killing intent was truly terrifying.

No one dared to test the truth of Lance's words with their own tongue.

"Lord Mamon, don't push us too far!"

Boolmeili finally managed to compose her emotions.

"Surrender, or don't." Mamon spoke flatly.

"I don't want to hear any other nonsense. Understood?"

Boolmeili's chest heaved again and again—when had she, Boolmeili, ever had to swallow this kind of insult??

This guy, from the moment he walked in until now, had simply not treated them as human beings!

How could anyone in this world be so arrogant! Damn him!

"What are you being so cocky about?!" Boolmeili's composure finally snapped.

"So what if the few of you are strong? At the end of the day, it's only five people!"

Boolmeili took out two Poké Balls and glared at Mamon.

There were only five people on the other side, but on theirs? Twenty-seven!

Twenty-seven against five—the advantage was obviously on their side.

They would win!!

"Hilarious. What good are more small fry? In the end, they're still just small fry."

The corner of Mamon's mouth lifted, half-mocking, half-scornful.

Lance and Gardevoir were equally nonchalant in response. As for the two Rocket Squad members trailing at the very back—

Mm, they were purely there for atmosphere.

Three against twenty-seven—is there even any suspense?
