Chapter 63: It Is Almost Awakening

~6 min read 1,060 words

"Seems they've been drawn here too."

Mamon looked at the two flying Pokémon, smiled, and felt no real surprise.

Caitlin slowly walked over, also seeing the two Pokémon hovering above.

"Tapu Koko and Tapu Lele?"

Caitlin gazed at these two Island Guardians: Tapu Koko, guardian of Melemele Island, and Tapu Lele, guardian of Ula'ula Island.

At this moment, the two Guardians were gazing at Lunala; they had sensed Lunala's manifestation and rushed over to celebrate.

Come to think of it...

Tapu Koko glanced at Tapu Fini; as the guardian of Poni Island, its altar was located on Poni Island.

Lunala had appeared, and Tapu Koko was happy, but Tapu Fini hadn't notified them, so Tapu Koko was very unhappy.

Though all were Island Guardians with strictly equal status, Tapu Koko, being the strongest, was implicitly the head of the Guardians.

"Ma xi?"

After sharing a tender moment with Lillie, Lunala turned its head and slowly floated upward, its majestic gaze settling on the four Guardians, signaling they could depart.

All four Guardians bowed slightly in submission; Tapu Koko and Tapu Lele stepped back, preparing to leave.

But...

When they saw Mamon and Caitlin take out Poké Balls to recall Tapu Fini and Tapu Bulu, Tapu Koko's mind froze.

"???"

Three huge question marks floated above Tapu Koko's head; wait, when had Fini and Bulu been captured?

How did it not know?

Tapu Koko and Tapu Lele exchanged glances, seeing the confusion and bewilderment in each other's eyes.

But Lunala had told them to leave, so it was definitely inconvenient to ask now.

Tapu Koko was utterly baffled; after thinking it over, it decided to wait nearby. They were Island Guardians; had Fini and Bulu betrayed their honor as Guardians?

They must get to the bottom of this!

Mamon naturally didn't know Tapu Koko's thoughts; at that moment, he was feeling regretful. It was rare for Tapu Koko and Tapu Lele to appear together.

However, capturing two subordinates who had rushed over to celebrate for Lunala right in front of Lunala itself wasn't quite appropriate.

Though it had just evolved, Lunala's strength was clearly immense; after all, the Moon Altar had poured far too much energy into it.

"Ma xi~"

Watching Koko and Lele depart, Lunala slowly floated to Mamon's side, its eyes like purple-red gems, still as beautiful and captivating as ever.

"Congratulations on your successful evolution, Lunala." Mamon smiled and offered his blessings.

Lunala, so that is the name of this Pokémon?

Caitlin, curious, subtly sized up this magnificent giant bat standing very close.

Regardless, this Pokémon named Lunala gave her an incredibly strong feeling!

That sense of mental suppression was unprecedented; even Cynthia's ace Garchomp had never given her such a sensation.

This Lunala was absolutely terrifyingly strong!!

"Ma xi~" A hint of a smile appeared in Lunala's eyes as it lowered its head slightly, leaning closer to Mamon.

It still remembered Mamon, this human who had been so gentle to it.

"You're so big now, yet you still love to act spoiled."

Mamon's lips curved slightly upward; he raised his hand and gently stroked Lunala's face, causing Lunala to squint its eyes slightly.

Indeed, it still retained memories from its Cosmog days, and those memories were very clear; perhaps evolution made it more mature, yet it still kept some childishness.

But that was for the best.

Mamon looked at Lunala, now within arm's reach, and felt his heart stir; this was the legendary "Beast that Calls the Moon," Lunala!

One of the cover legendaries of the Sun/Moon versions! One of the Pokémon standing at the peak of the Pokémon world.

"Want a candy?" After a short while, Mamon took out some candy and asked Lunala with a smile.

Lunala tilted its head slightly.

Mamon unwrapped the candy and fed it into Lunala's mouth; Lunala's gem-like beautiful eyes curved into crescent moons.

"So cute~" Caitlin's eyes lit up; seeing Lunala's expression, which clashed with its magnificent and noble appearance, the gap-moe was too adorable.

After finishing the candy, Lunala moved backward and slowly flew into the air.

"Cosmog?"

Lillie jogged over, looking at Lunala in the sky.

"Ma xi~"

Lunala lowered its gaze, its call still magnetic and gentle.

"It says it must first go find its companion; its companion has always been waiting for it to return." Mamon spoke, translating Lunala's words.

And the "companion" in Lunala's mouth was undoubtedly Solgaleo.

"Cosmog... is leaving..." Hearing this, Lillie pressed her lips together; she knew she should bless Cosmog, but she still felt a bit disappointed.

'I will return.'

An elegant, melodious mature female voice suddenly rang in the ears of the three.

"Telepathy." Caitlin paused, then immediately understood; this was Lunala's telepathy.

"Cosmog?" Lillie also immediately looked toward Lunala; her intuition told her this was Lunala's voice.

"'Lillie and Mamon are also my companions; once I find it, I will return.'" Lunala said softly.

"Yes! Cosmog will always be my partner too!" Lillie held back her stinging eyes.

"We will meet again." Mamon smiled at Lunala.

"If you ever need my help, just play today's flute melody; I will hear it."

The Sun Flute and the Moon Flute shimmered with blue light before settling back before the two of them.

"Farewell, Lillie, Mamen."

Above Lunala, a white Ultra Wormhole opened, and Lunala's figure swiftly flew into it and vanished.

The white Ultra Wormhole slowly disappeared, and the night sky returned to calm.

"He's gone..."

Lillie gazed at the deep crescent moon, her heart filled with a mixture of emotions.

"Don't worry, didn't Lunala say so? It will return."

Mamen comforted Lillie, though he too felt a bit of regret; he had really wanted to capture Lunala.

But this Lunala was clearly too powerful; even if Lunala were willing to give him a chance to challenge it, the success rate of defeating and capturing it would be very low.

Still, they had at least maintained a very good relationship with Lunala; there would be opportunities in the future.

And...

Mamen remembered the message Giovanni had sent him; it was also about to awaken!

Once things are wrapped up here in Alola, I'll head back to Kanto first. Even if it hasn't fully awakened yet, its strength must be extremely high.

As long as I can persuade it, I'll have a truly powerful ace up my sleeve.
