Chapter 20: Trouble Third Brother to Apologize to Me

~7 min read 1,344 words

Hearing Gu Wenyan's words, the man raised an eyebrow, his eyes turning dark: "Is there no one who doesn't love me, including you?"

He stared intently at Gu Wenyan's eyes, his direct gaze carrying a scorching heat; even though it was just a video call and separated by such a vast distance, it still felt like it would set Gu Wenyan's skin on fire.

Gu Wenyan felt very embarrassed, but she did not deny it, instead nodding earnestly: "Including me."

Bo Si Han's Adam's apple bobbed, his eyes dark as he looked at Gu Wenyan: "Right now, I regret it."

Gu Wenyan asked, puzzled: "Regret what?"

"Regret letting you go back to live at the Gu Family before we hold our wedding."

His voice was so low and hoarse, filled with a... heavy possessiveness toward Gu Wenyan.

After Gu Wenyan understood, her face turned even redder, and she hurriedly said: "This is what you promised me, you can't go back on your word!"

She then hurriedly hung up the phone.

She patted her still-burning skin... Bo Si Han was just too formidable.

Who said he had no experience because he never got close to women? Isn't he quite capable? With just a few words, he scared her into fleeing in a panic...

Gu Wenyan was in a daze when she suddenly heard the door upstairs being violently pulled open; Gu Yeting walked out with angry strides, went downstairs, and soon arrived in front of her.

As soon as Gu Wenyan looked up, she saw the monstrous rage on her third brother's cold and flirtatious face: "Gu Wenyan!"

Gu Yeting glared at her with a look of disgust: "What on earth have you done to your sister?! You are disgusting!"

"Third Brother, I don't understand what you mean."

This sentence seemed to be something Gu Mianmian said often.

Gu Wenyan had now learned it too, discovering that this kind of phrase was truly suitable for playing the part of a white lotus.

Hearing Gu Wenyan deliberately feign ignorance, Gu Yeting seemed to be unable to contain his anger: "Not admitting it, are you? I'll call Mianmian over..."

Just at this moment, Gu Mianmian hurriedly followed and stopped him: "Brother, don't go ask Sister, she didn't bully me..."

"She didn't bully you, then why do you cry secretly alone at night? It's all because of her!"

Gu Yeting put away his laid-back demeanor and snorted coldly: "Ever since the day she returned, the Gu Family hasn't had a moment of peace!"

Every word spat out from the man's handsome, thin lips was sufficiently damaging.

Clearly, he was Gu Wenyan's biological brother; they shared the same blood and had an inseparable bond.

But in his eyes, Gu Wenyan was a nuisance, a burden, and even more so, an outsider he detested.

A hint of self-mockery appeared in the depths of Gu Wenyan's eyes.

It had to be said, for so many years, although Gu Mianmian had no blood relation to them, that kind of affection had indeed become especially profound without them realizing it.

How did that saying go... after ten or twenty years, one would be reluctant to part with a dog, let alone a person.

On this point, Gu Wenyan could actually understand them being so protective and doting toward Gu Mianmian, but why...

Should she, who had received nothing, have to face these sarcasms and interrogations from her own brother?

She stopped being polite and mocked: "That's right, ever since the day I returned, I've turned this house upside down. Why don't you kick me out and stop letting me have the surname Gu."

"Besides, I was doing just fine in the countryside, wasn't it you all who took the initiative to bring me back?"

Gu Wenyan's soft-spoken sarcasm made Gu Yeting even more furious: "Even if you suffered some hardships in the past, what did Mianmian do wrong! If you have any dissatisfaction, just direct it at us; targeting her at every turn, what kind of skill is that!"

Gu Yeting's words were even harsher than the eldest and second brothers', and his attitude of disgust toward Gu Wenyan was even more apparent.

Gu Mianmian was still acting innocent on the side: "I'm sorry, Sister, I didn't think Brother would say that to you. Brother, it really is nothing... I can regulate these emotions of mine myself, it has nothing to do with Sister, don't talk about her anymore!"

"No, I must talk about it. Don't think I don't know what she did a while ago!" Gu Yeting's eyes were filled with coldness mixed with disdain, "She tried every possible way to slander you, yet you still give her face; you are just too kind."

"That's right, it's precisely because I was too kind that I let others ride on my head and bully me before." Gu Wenyan actually agreed with what he said.

Gu Yeting frowned: "Do you have no shame? Was I talking about you?"

"Sister, you should go back to your room first. I'll persuade Brother here. Don't worry, I promised Mom... we sisters must get along well, no matter what happens, I will bear it myself!"

Hearing these words from Gu Mianmian, Gu Yeting felt immense heartache: "If I had known, I wouldn't have gone abroad during this time, then I wouldn't have let you be bullied at home."

Turning his head, his gaze landed coldly on Gu Wenyan, his lips curling in contempt: "Now that I'm back, I will never let anyone bully you."

He was truly worthy of being seen by the outside world as a playboy; that cold-hearted appearance made one's heart turn cold.

However, Gu Wenyan hadn't held any expectations for them to begin with, so she wasn't disappointed.

Anyway, all she had to do was take back the love they had for Gu Mianmian, but whether she actually cared for it... that was another matter.

For the current Gu Wenyan, only Bo Si Han's feelings were truly real, trustworthy, and worth reciprocating with genuine affection.

As for the others, whether it was her parents or these three brothers, Gu Wenyan remained guarded and did not give them her heart.

Gu Wenyan smiled calmly: "Third Brother, I don't ask you to treat me as your biological sister. I only ask that, from now on, you respect me more and stop making baseless accusations without any reason."

"Do I still need a reason? How did you treat Mianmian in the past? And what kind of person you are, we in the Gu Family know better than anyone..."

"Yeting!" Ye Yiwen came out of her room upon hearing the commotion and, seeing Gu Yeting losing his temper at Gu Wenyan, immediately felt some dissatisfaction, "Why are you scolding your sister the moment you run back!"

"Mom? Of course I'm teaching her a lesson, warning her not to dare treat Mianmian like that again..."

"That's enough, Wen Yan hasn't done anything to Mianmian." Ye Yiwen didn't want to see the house turned upside down, plus there was that indescribable sense of guilt... which was why she spoke up to defend Gu Wenyan at this moment.

Gu Yeting raised an eyebrow, a bit surprised; he hadn't expected that after one trip abroad, his mother's attitude toward Gu Wenyan would have such a big turnaround: "You also know about the things she did in the past, often bullying Mianmian when we weren't around, and this time she still..."

"No, this time it has nothing to do with Wen Yan. Don't you believe me?"

Ye Yiwen was, after all, the mother of the household, so Gu Yeting's arrogance subsided a bit: "... Since you say so, then forget it. But I still have to warn her, if she dares to do this again, I won't spare her!"

As Gu Yeting spoke, he was about to take Gu Mianmian back to her room to continue comforting her.

Gu Wenyan, however, suddenly called out to him: "Third Brother, one must apologize when they have done something wrong. Please, Third Brother, say sorry to me."
