Chapter 41: No Taste!
Bo Si Han suppressed the beast in his heart as much as he could, not wanting his paranoia and possessiveness to potentially harm Gu Wenyan.
Yet some emotions always appeared uncontrollably at certain moments, churning and roaring, possessing the power to destroy all reason.
It was just like that day he saw Gu Wenyan running away...
Some of the outside world's perceptions of Bo Si Han were not entirely baseless speculation; some were indeed very close to the truth.
He had a near-maniacal possessiveness toward everything he had claimed, whether it was objects or people.
Once someone wanted to escape his control, they might even be destroyed by him.
But if it were an object, if he couldn't get it, he would simply discard it without any regret, and that would be the end of it.
Yet what he craved now was a person; he needed to fight the demon within himself at every moment to ensure he would never hurt her.
Only Bo Si Han himself knew how agonizing the entire process was.
However, when Gu Wenyan's sweet, soft tone rang out, this demon was naturally locked back into its cage.
The crimson in Bo Si Han's eyes gradually faded, turning into a pitch-black calm: "The place to stay has already been prepared, why aren't you asleep yet?"
"I was going to sleep, but I figured you would only just be arriving at this time, so I specifically called you," Gu Wenyan said lightly. "We'll see each other at the venue tomorrow. Get some rest as soon as you arrive; don't stay up late again because of some last-minute work."
In the days of interacting with Bo Si Han recently, Gu Wenyan had already witnessed what kind of workaholic he was.
So, she did indeed feel a bit of heartache for Bo Si Han's seriousness and dedication to his work.
Even though he was already a successful person in most people's eyes and had no need to spend all his energy on work like this, he still did so.
He controlled the entire Bo Family, and there probably weren't many people who could feel the heavy burden of pressure on his shoulders.
Hearing Gu Wenyan's exhortations, Bo Si Han couldn't help but let a smile tug at his tone: "Alright, goodnight, Yan Yan."
Gu Wenyan only went to sleep peacefully after talking to Bo Si Han on the phone. Rising early the next day, she applied simple makeup and chose an outfit suitable for attending the Art Museum's opening, then went downstairs for breakfast.
Gu Yeting sat by the dining table, and upon seeing Gu Wenyan, he let out a cold snort of annoyance; this attitude was even worse than before.
But it no longer had any effect on Gu Wenyan. She turned a blind eye and found an empty seat to sit down.
After a while, Gu Mianmian also walked downstairs. She first feigned politeness by greeting Gu Wenyan, then sidled up to Gu Yeting to act spoiled and cute.
The cloying tone made Gu Wenyan's skin crawl with disgust; she didn't know how Gu Yeting could stand it.
Gu Yeting also deliberately raised his voice while talking to Gu Mianmian, saying at one moment: "If you see anything you like at the exhibition hall later, just bid for it; brother will buy it for you."
And at another moment: "Before school starts, I'll take you abroad for a vacation; we'll come back after you've had your fill of fun."
Gu Mianmian was still in university. Her grades weren't very good, so she attended a private institution, and it was the kind where she went abroad to study first before transferring back.
In short, it was all managed by the Gu Family spending money, but in their eyes, as long as she was happy, healthy, and joyful, it didn't matter if her grades were good or not.
Yet even so, Gu Yeting had previously mocked Gu Wenyan for being a vulgar person from the countryside with no culture.
How much better was Gu Mianmian than her? It was only because they had all sorts of biases that they viewed her that way...
When her parents came downstairs, Gu Wenyan greeted them softly. Although Gu Jue's attitude seemed cold, he still nodded and urged her to eat more.
Ye Yiwen was much more enthusiastic. Even though she had focused much of her attention on Gu Mianmian these past few days, in this home, both daughters were very important to her.
The last person to come downstairs was Gu Yechen. While adjusting his shirt cuffs, he was chatting about business with an overseas partner via a Bluetooth headset; his English pronunciation leaned toward British, exceptionally elegant and pleasant to hear.
After ending the call, Gu Yechen sat directly beside Gu Wenyan. This very natural action made the Gu family members look toward him.
Gu Yechen raised his eyes and asked calmly: "Is something wrong?"
Gu Mianmian said: "It's nothing... Big Brother, it's hard to eat sitting so far away. Why don't you come sit over here with us?"
"No need, I'll just sit here. Gu Yefeng has already left early, no need to wait for him."
With the Art Museum opening today, Gu Yefeng, as the owner, was truly busy, so he didn't even have time for breakfast.
Gu Yechen's expression was indifferent. He was beginning to use his own way to make Gu Wenyan feel her value in this home.
To let Gu Wenyan experience a part of the familial affection she had never felt before.
Perhaps this was also a responsibility he should bear as the eldest brother.
Although Gu Yechen had not taken Gu Wenyan to heart previously, now that he had this realization, he would no longer ignore or even loathe her as he had in the past.
Gu Mianmian saw the change in her eldest brother's attitude, clenched her fists, and said nothing more, the hatred in her heart toward him and Gu Wenyan growing ever more intense.
Gu Wenyan felt equally indifferent. Although Gu Yechen's attitude had changed now, it was at most because he realized he owed her something; it was still a bit far from the goal she wanted.
Of course, now that the seed had sprouted, the speed of its growth was getting faster and faster; actually, it wasn't that difficult anymore...
Heading out, Gu Yeting had one hand in his pocket and glanced lazily at Gu Wenyan's clothes, snorting through his nose: "I don't even know what this is you're wearing."
Gu Wenyan was not wearing a pretty little dress like Gu Mianmian, dressing herself up like a princess; instead, she wore a pale cyan long dress with a cut similar to a cheongsam, featuring an ink-wash painting on the fabric.
In fact, this dress looked extremely flattering on Gu Wenyan, matching her temperament; that elegant yet noble, aloof coldness bloomed silently like an orchid in an empty valley.
Only those who accidentally stumbled in could see such beautiful scenery, releasing beauty silently and without fanfare, yet leaving a lingering aftertaste.
Gu Yeting was actually stunned by Gu Wenyan's outfit at first glance, but the more he was, the more he wanted to deliberately pick faults.
Facing his provocation, Gu Wenyan only gave a faint smile and left a three-word evaluation: "No taste."
Gu Yeting: "..."
Just as he was about to lose his temper, Gu Mianmian grabbed his arm again: "Brother, alright, stop arguing with Sister, let's just head out first!"
Gu Wenyan did not set out with the Gu family.
Because a black Rolls-Royce was already waiting outside their residence. As soon as Gu Wenyan walked over, a man in a suit with an elegant and noble temperament stepped out of the car, his dark eyes looking deeply toward her.
