THE FIRES ARE SPREADING! WE CAN’T..."

"DEAL WITH IT!" Snowid grabbed the man by his collar and threw him back. Looking over the wall, he saw the Ammary military inching closer. The assault was about to begin, and his men’s screaming about the fire wasn’t helping him. Wiping the sweat from his head, he looked down at his city.

The outer city was partly destroyed. The massive blaze ate anything in its path, and people did their best to destroy buildings to stop their spread. The plan was set up in a hurry, but its implementation worked. Yet it wasn’t enough. Snowid couldn’t afford to mobilise his men to assist. "FUCK!" Snowid slammed his fist into the wall and looked at his enemy.

The entire city was encircled and watching the Empire close in, Snowid knew it was the end. Now all he could do was fight. Fight and make the attack as miserable for Alfred as he could. That was all that mattered. Snowid pulled out a sword. It wasn’t his usual Claymore, as it was too big to be used effectively on the wall.

"DRAW!" A random soldier shouted in the background. Every archer drew their arrows back and stared down at the enemy outside. The sound of men and women screaming, trying to fight the fire, was drowned out, each man only able to listen to their own heartbeat. "LOOSE!" The command came, and a volley of arrows flew from above. The Ammary soldiers paused. Some raised their shields whilst others hid behind siege towers.

The onslaught of arrows was destructive, with men dying on each front. Despite the damage, it hardly had an effect on the Ammary men as they continued on, ignoring the dead. Volley after volley flew against the attackers, and Snowid watched, counting the seconds until they reached the wall.

The archer’s fire slowed down until it stopped. The large wooden siege towers hit the wall, their thin frames creaking as if they were about to collapse on impact. Snowid pushed forward and grabbed a torch from one of his men. Throwing it at a lower platform of the tower, he stood his ground on the front line.

The drawbridge fell, and Snowid came face to face with Ammary soldiers. The two forces looked at one another for a second in silence until the first man stepped forward. Snowid saw his mouth open before hearing his war cry. The first jumped off and charged.

Standing on the front, the Ammary soldier was face to face with Snowid. Even when he stood elevated, the man looked small before the King. Wasting no time, the soldier stabbed down at Snowid. Snowid had gotten used to missing an eye, and although it wasn’t perfect, he knew that against normal warriors, he wouldn’t lose a duel.

Avoiding the attack, he grabbed the man’s leg and pulled hard, forcing him to fall. With a pained cry, he tried to push himself up, but was quickly executed, a sword piercing through his heart. The exchange lasted three seconds and became the first casualty in the Battle on Zaraslava’s Wall.

-----------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------

Marcus felt his blood boiling as he climbed the ladder. He heard his men above, shouting that Snowid was here. They had refused to let him be the first one to lead the battle, scared he would die too quickly. Marcus understood their worries, knowing that if he died, morale would plummet.

Yet with the news of Snowid being here, he felt happy again. After fighting Michael, he couldn’t help but want to fight those who were acclaimed warriors. It was a joy that normal people wouldn’t understand, only found in those aiming for the peak. He had seen Snowid before and always wanted to test the man who was like a beast on the battlefield.

"Commander," Adam said from below with a slight smile, "I know what you’re thinking. Just remember, we need you to survive this battle."

Marcus chuckled and shook his head as he reached the final platform. Reaching down, he pulled Adam up. "I learnt my lesson, Adam, don’t worry." Marcus grinned and looked at the wall. His men had made a small foothold on the and desperately fought the Commonwealth forces. It was a brutal melee with both sides taking massive casualties, yet Marcus could only focus on one man. Seeing Snowid covered in light wounds, cutting down men left and right, he smiled and charged in, pulling his sword.

Jumping forward, he blended in with the other soldiers and pushed in Snowid’s direction. Throwing one of his men back, he threw a kick into Snowid’s gut, catching him by surprise and forcing him to stumble for a second. "NOT AN INCH!" Marcus’s voice boomed. Every Ammary soldier smiled, hearing their commander on the wall with them, the intensity in their attacks increasing.

Marcus watched as Snowid looked at him with a cold, confident gaze. Flicking his sword, he stepped forward and launched an attack. To a normal man, it looked to have no technique, only using raw power, but Marcus knew better. Snowid kept just enough distance to avoid being caught off guard again, whilst his attack would be able to piece any vital parts if the attack landed.

Swinging up their two swords collided, and Marcus felt his arm go numb from the single attack. All the stories he heard about the man were proven true, as his knees buckled slightly. With a grin, Marucs pushed out and forced Snowid’s sword away. Twirling it in his hand, he stabbed at his stomach, having to lunge forward.

Snowid expected an attack on his stomach again and slammed his heavy gauntlet down, knocking the attack into the ground.’Power and speed.’Marcus clicked his tongue and took a step back, avoiding an attack thrown at him.

The two looked at one another again. The battle around them raged as the Ammary men fought for an inch at a time. The clashing steel, the heat of the burning city, the crazed cries from both sides. It was overwhelming for many of the men who had forced themselves to cut off their senses and only focus on surviving.

But for the two, they allowed themselves to notice everything. Both took a step forward in sync. Marcus attacked first; his sword aimed for Snowid’s chest. Snowid blocked and stepped forward again, reaching out to grab Marcus. Even without a claymore, he fought like he used one.

It was unexpected, and Snowid grabbed hold of Marus. Unlike Alfred, Marcus didn’t budge and reacted quickly. Grabbing Snowid, he pulled himself in and headbutted him. The grip on his shoulder loosened, and Marcus pulled himself back, kicking at Snowid. The attack landed, but unlike last time, it had no effect.

Snwoid loosened his hold and quickly grabbed Marcus’s leg, pulling hard and making him fall on his back. The men around didn’t have time to react to their commander falling and trampled him. Marcus clenched his teeth and forced himself to bear the pain as he got everyone off him and stood back up.

Snowid threw an attack down at Marcus in his weakened state, it being blocked by a large shield. "COMMANDER!" Adam pushed back against the attack with great difficulty and threw an attack to make space for Marcus.

Marcus didn’t say anything and refocused on Snowid, his eyes locking onto the man as he flexed his muscles, seeing if he suffered any major damage. He had reopened a few wounds, but it was nothing to worry about. Taking a few deep breaths to gather himself, Marcus didn’t take a step forward. He knew he couldn’t be too aggressive anymore. Snowid may not be using his favoured weapon, but he was still an overwhelming force. Snowid finally recaught his breath in the few moments of peace and smiled, taking a step forward.

A fury of blows fell on Marcus as he desperately blocked every single one. The weight and speed behind them were enough to make any normal man die. Unlike Michael, whose attacks were graceful and precise, they were wild. Yet there was a plan behind every single one. Each time he blocked, he was never in a position to counter.

He was slowly stepping back, but hit one of his own men, who was waiting to join the attack. Snowid showed no change in emotion, as if expecting the outcome, and attacked from above. Marcus knew that if he blocked, Snowid could get an easy attack that would kill him. He knew he had to do something he didn’t want to. The entire thought process happened in less than two seconds, and Marcus stepped to the side, letting the attack cleave through his soldier.

Snowid swung down and expected Marcus to block. His eyes never left the man, and seeing him side step, his eyes went wide, but he couldn’t stop, his sword cutting through the gap in the armour of a random soldier. Marcus didn’t let it get to him and moved forward. Turning his body, he stabbed forward at Snowid.

Snowid let go of the sword, knowing it would take too long to pull it out and stepped back. The sword pierced through the armour on his stomach and pierced slightly through his flesh. "Ahhh!" Snowid yelled in pain and grabbed the blade, trying to stop it. The leather covering his palms was cut, but the attack stopped, and the two locked eyes.

Pulling himself out of the attack, Snowid felt his stomach go warm. It wasn’t a heavy flow of blood; he could tell that much from years of being attacked and knew that he could keep fighting. Taking a sword from one of his men, he blocked Marcus’s follow-up attack. The two locked swords as they pushed against one another.
",1638,"2026-06-03T11:17:48.775Z","2026-06-03T11:17:51.400Z",1,"novelbin.me","fe8f6431336402820cffd69840ba4cf2f12b7da7ed6802ab73cc59f2e5a24dce","the-reborn-king-chapter-357","the-reborn-king-chapter-355",487,"https://novelzhen.com/images/covers/the-reborn-king-cover.jpg"]
