Its gentle rivers calmly flowed past, creating a serene backdrop that was out of place in the current world. "I do hate these muddy fields. They make me sick to my core." Constance walked over, surrounded by Templars, draped in a long white cloth and a veil.

"You’re dressing up to look like a woman again." Julius clicked his tongue, turning away from Constance. Hearing him laugh, he could tell his brother had a wide smile on his face.

"We are simple creatures, Julius. Not all men love and fear God, but they do love protecting beautiful things, especially when they are women." Constance chuckled and rested his hand on his chin, "And those who lie with other men, will still feel the same about me."

"Why have you come? Shouldn’t you be hiding away in the Holy Seat, waiting to claim all the credit?" Julius asked and looked back at his brother.

"Can’t I do something, without it being a trick?" Constance shook his head and sighed, "Your lack of faith in me is saddening."

"Why are you here?" Julius asked again, his voice colder than when he first did.

Constance stared into his eyes and smiled. Taking the veil off, he chuckled, "Well, other than to boost morale, I came to deliver news, a piece you would want to hear for yourself." Constance looked across the river and moved closer to Julius. Beyond it, waters he saw a few Lisaponic scouts watching, "And hopefully I can bait those heathens across the water to act stupid."

"Just don’t let yourself be caught." Julius warned, "What’s the news?"

"Bactria has expressed a distaste for the way the world is shifting." Constance smiled before frowning, "It was quite a funny set of letters, with most of them being insults directed at us and them talking about how they are the cultural and ethical pillar of the world." Constance rolled his eyes and shrugged, "But they did say how Lisa doesn’t deserve the Divine Kings’ mantle, as well as mentioning something quite dangerous." Pausing, he looked directly into Julius’ eyes, "Prince Soheil is marrying a Prodoran princess."

Julius stayed silent, looking back over the river. The Lisaponic scouts could be seen running around, taking notes on everything they saw, making sure to pay extra attention to Julius and Constance. Consatnce smiled and lifted his hand up, waving at them before frowning, "I don’t doubt Bactria will wage their war, their hate for Lisa not exactly a secret, but Prodora is the issue."

"Religious issues, I assume?" Constance nodded in reply to the question.

"They won’t come out and say they agree with the Holy War, it is spitting on their own history and religious importance. But, by agreeing to this marriage, it means they and, by extension, any other Follower of Khors, should support Lisa." Julius took a deep breath, understanding the severity of the situation, "Your alliance with Ammeria can be made null because of this." Constance paused, "The marriage has gone through, right?"

"I haven’t consummated it."

"Go back and do that. We can’t risk Ammeria getting ideas, or Severia will fall. There is a chance I can bring Alfred and Ivan to the negotiation table if I must, but we will have to damn the Gotics." Constance rubbed the back of his head with annoyance, "But with what happened to his daughter, I doubt Alfred will be willing.

"That fucking idiot. Do not harm his children. It was a simple order." Julius scoffed and rubbed his mask, "Don’t worry too much about Ammeria. Kaban is smart, but more importantly, a family man. His daughter wants to be my wife, and he can’t refuse her request."

"Don’t cling to that idea. Get her pregnant as soon as possible. With his grandchild as the future Emperor, he won’t dare invade, even with religious pressure." Putting his veil back on, he continued, "In the meantime, I will give a speech." Constance strolled off, leaving Julius alone to watch across the river.

-------------------------

Octavius marched at the head of the Severian and Templar host, thinking about the order he had given. Crossing into the Livonik lands, they could see their target in the distance, the high walls of the port city of Jaslo, circling and protecting the city. On it, the flags of the Empire and the Marszalek proudly fly high.

The march had been easy with light resistance, reinforcing Octavious’ belief in what Marcus wanted, and although some Ammary forces had been able to escape, he was certain that he would be able to take Jaslo before Marcus could intercept him.

"GENERAL!" A rider rode up the lines, calling out to Octavious, his face panicked, "MEN HAVE RETURNED FROM THE CHENT EXPEDITION!" Octavius Force, lifting his hand up to stop the march. Hoi’s order trailed along the entire convoy, stopping it in its tracks.

Behind the rider, he saw a soldier trailing behind. Jumping off their horses, the two lowered their heads, saluting Octavius. "What’s the issue? Defeat?"

General..." The second rider, a survivor from the Chent march, spoke. "They have something. I don’t understand. None of us did. It didn’t make sense." Speaking quickly, the man tripped over his words. Octavius raised his hand to stop him from talking.

"Take a breath. Calm down. What happened?"

The soldier took a few deep breaths and nodded, collecting his thoughts, remembering the scenes from the battle. "I don’t know what it was, none of us did. The noise was like thunder during a terrible storm. And every time it went off, the ground would blow up, killing all nearby, blinding us with dirt and dust." The soldier frowned, "The Ammary’s. It was like magic. The magic in stories of old.

Octavius dryly chuckled, "Magic? Soldier, if you are wasting my time, leave. You are in shock, so I won’t punish you..."

"You must believe me. Many others ran all the way here to warn you. Ask any of them. They will tell you the same story. The Ammarys have something. A weapon, magic... I don’t know. It didn’t make sense. With cavalry and this thing, they stopped a thousand-strong host."

Octavius looked to the other soldier who led the survivor to him. Grimly nodding towards him, Octavius knew that he made sure to check if the story was real and not the ramblings of a few men who had gone crazy.

Looking at Jaslo, he closed his eyes and chuckled, "How many were there?"

"I don’t know." The soldier said, "Four eruptions every few minutes. That’s all I remembered."

"Four." Octavius smiled, "So they don’t have a lot, is what you’re saying." Octavius looked into the man’s eyes, "If I attacked with ten thousand men, could it stop it?"

"I...I....I don’t know." Octavius chuckled.

"Continue the march. If they only had four, it means they either only have four in total, or they could only mobilise four for the General to use. Knowing that a large convoy is attacking Nakhla, they wouldn’t dare risk leaving the port city underdefended." Looking at Jaslo, he smiled, "And seeing as how it was a secret that I wasn’t warned of, it means only a few men and women in the Empire know of its existence, something a man like Marquess Marszalek wouldn’t be privy to."

"General?" The soldier called out in panic. Octavius frowned and shook his head.

"Don’t question my orders. As I said, you are confused and panicked. I’m sure this was an accident. Correct?"

The man paused and lowered his head, saluting, "Yes, General. My mind is not completely sound after that battle, but I am still fit to fight. I saw it. I can be of use."

"Good. Tell me everything you remember. Spare nothing." Lifting his hand, he started moving again and signalled the march to continue.

-------------------

Across the Tears, the Ammary fleet moved, armed and to deliver vengeance. The large fleet was filled with soldiers and unyielding, each one ready to join the war and reverse the situation they found themselves in.

Along the shores of the Livonk land, it moved quickly, ready to enact its vengeance. Alfred stood on the ship heading the convoy, a burning fire in his eyes. Looking up at the sky, he smiled to himself and closed his eyes.

"Two days. Two days until arrival." Telling himself, he could imagine the end of the war in sight.

"Your Majesty." A sailor came up to his side and bowed, "The captain suggests stopping at Jaslo. The stockpile of ammo was low at Nakhla after the battle. From his knowledge, Jaslo would have some stockpile."

Alfred thought for a second. He knew Marcus would have made a stop during his preparation to grab some, but he couldn’t imagine the General taking all of it. "An extra day." Quietly muttering to himself, he nodded. "I allow it. Send word across the fleet of the planned stop. But do not allow the men to disembark. We are there to collect supplies. Nothing more."

"Understood, Your Majesty." The sailor bowed again and ran back to the bridge to relay the order.
",1534,"2026-06-03T11:17:51.400Z","2026-06-03T11:17:48.775Z",1,"novelbin.me","2a285d90da9f68998268c4f328f0d0ec7421fa3e692f03e7089a13ae429a988a","the-reborn-king-chapter-479","the-reborn-king-chapter-477",487,"https://novelzhen.com/images/covers/the-reborn-king-cover.jpg"]
