Chapter 520: Mister
"Sir, that girl, is it just a coincidence?" A burly man, his body all muscle, with a stern face, showed some reluctance.
The person called Sir was precisely the old man who had let Jiang Yunchu rest earlier.
The old man stroked his beard, his beard flecked with white, yet his face showed no sign of age.
"I observe, she doesn't seem to be lying." Sir looked at the people in the room, "The Lost Land has seen no newcomers for several hundred years; everyone's vigilance is warranted."
"Everyone, be more careful from now on and see what her background is."
"If she truly came up from a minor world, the Divine Palace must have secretly done something; we are on the same side."
He looked at everyone in the room, finally sighed, "We can survive in the Lost Land only because we stand together and protect each other."
"One must guard against others, but there's no need to exterminate them."
As his words fell, the others bowed and said, "Yes."
After Sir finished speaking, no one objected—not even the earlier muscular man—he wore a look of respect.
One can see Sir's status in this Lost Land has taken root in everyone's hearts.
"You're awake?" A maiden, staying by Jiang Yunchu's side, saw her lashes flutter and quickly rose.
Jiang Yunchu opened her eyes; it was still the same room as before.
Only a little girl had been added; she stood there helplessly, yet with a hint of curiosity.
Jiang Yunchu smiled, shifted inward a bit, patted the space beside the wooden bed, and said, "Sit."
The girl blinked, then shook her head, "Are you hungry? Sir asked me to bring you food."
The little girl's voice was somewhat timid.
Jiang Yunchu raised an eyebrow, "Sir? Who is that?"
The little girl thought, then answered, "Sir is the white-bearded, white-haired grandfather; he is everyone's leader, and because of his guidance we can survive in this Lost Land."
"Everyone respects Sir; Sir is a very, very good person."
When the little girl spoke of Sir, her eyes filled with admiration; Jiang Yunchu kept that person in mind.
"Then could you tell me who you are? And what is this Lost Land?" Since her ascent, everyone she has met has been from here.
She had few people she could ask; seeing a talking little girl, she always wanted to get things clear.
But just then, a voice came from outside, "If you have any questions, you can come ask me; don't trouble this little lass."
That voice was very familiar—it was the old man from yesterday.
That must be the Sir the girl spoke of, right?
Jiang Yunchu stood up, looked at the little girl, gave a light smile, and said, "Trouble you, miss, to show the way."
"No, no." The girl flusteredly waved her hands, lifted her gaze to Jiang Yunchu, then lowered her head again.
This girl is so pretty; she had never seen anyone so beautiful before.
Jiang Yunchu noticed her movement, but only gave a light smile.
"Sir." Arriving at a wooden hut, the girl knocked on the door, called out softly, and the door swung open without wind.
"Sir told you to go in; I won't go myself."
"Sir is gentle, but you must tell the truth." The girl turned, added a couple of reminders, then turned and left.
Jiang Yunchu entered the wooden hut; from outside it looked small, but upon entering she discovered it was actually spacious.
She glanced around in amazement, then continued inward; soon she saw an old man, his hands toying with some plant, studying it back and forth.
"Here you are." The old man placed the plant into a jade box, then carefully tossed it into his own space, lifted his head, pointed to the chair beside him, and said, "Have a seat."
Jiang Yunchu obediently sat in the chair and curiously surveyed the room.
"What is your name?"
The old man looked at Jiang Yunchu and asked gently.
Besides the few questions she had asked upon waking, this counts as the first question.
"Kang Yun."
"Jiang—whether it's the Jiang of Jiang Zeyang or the Jiang of Jiang Wen Fu—I didn't know if it was obvious in Zhongzhou, so I simply used the name from Zhuang City."
"Do you know why I trust you? Trusting that you ascended from a minor world." The old man stroked his beard, as if it were a habit; whenever he thought, he unconsciously stroked his beard.
Jiang Yunchu shook her head; she had many points of confusion and needed the old man before her to clarify them bit by bit.
But…
No rush; having come to the Lost Land, listening to the old man and that little girl's tone, this place is not a good one.
Since it's not a good place, it probably has nothing to do with the Divine Palace, right?
"Your bone age is just over twenty; in our Zhongzhou, a twenty-something child hasn't yet activated their spiritual source and cannot cultivate to your level." The old man gave a light smile.
Jiang Yunchu nodded, filing that information away.
"Then may I ask a few questions?" She thought it over and still decided to be frank.
Since she wanted to know something, she would just ask directly; regardless of whether the other spoke truth or falsehood, she could judge a bit.
"Go ahead." The old man smiled; with his crane-white hair and youthful face, his whole being was full of kindness, his eyes not cold but brimming with compassion.
"Is this the Lost Land?"
As her question left her lips, the old man opposite nodded, "Yes, this is the Lost Land."
Before she could continue questioning, he began to explain.
"The Lost Land, although also in Zhongzhou, is indeed a special place; those who come to the Lost Land either offended someone outside and were thrown in, or were condemned by the Divine Palace."
"The Lost Land is an ominous place in Zhongzhou."
Jiang Yunchu furrowed her brows, Divine Palace…
Who would have thought the Divine Palace had such power? Even in Zhongzhou it can still pass judgment on people?
Then how mighty must it be?
The little girl who just brought me here, looking at her appearance and temperament, how could she have come to the Lost Land?
That girl is somewhat innocent and naive, her eyes full of purity; how could such a girl be a criminal?
Given her nature, she probably wouldn't offend anyone, right?
The old man smiled and shook his head, "In our Lost Land, counting you but not me, there are thirteen people total."
"How so few?" Jiang Yunchu stared wide-eyed, "Thirteen people?"
The old man nodded, "Those who don't listen to my words have all been eradicated by me."
The old man remained in his calm and lighthearted manner, his face still bearing a kind smile; even when carrying out the eradication, his eyes showed no change at all.
