Chapter 1067: Forcing Entry

~9 min read 1,759 words

As soon as the "Hermit" card in Cattleya's hand was produced, a layer of lustrous light seemed to flow over it.

At the same time, outside the Wizard Tower, somewhere in the fog shrouding "Utopia," a star lit up in the middle of the day, growing brighter and brighter until it was blindingly brilliant.

In an instant, a figure stepped out from within that star.

It was the "Magician" lady, wearing a deep black wizard robe embroidered with silver stars that shimmered on the fabric.

Relying on the mystical connection provided by the "Hermit," she forcibly locked onto the location and tore open a gate leading to "Utopia."

Once Cattleya was able to enter and exit "Utopia" freely, the "Magician" could have used a Grade 0 Sealed Artifact from the Abraham family to break in. After all, this place was created by Toriobo using "Mystical Re-enactment," not bestowed by the "Hidden Sage"—how could it possibly stop a high-sequence powerhouse of the Door pathway, who could enter with a door or even without one?

However, the Moses Ascetic Order was an ancient organization possessing at least two angels and multiple Grade 0 and Grade 1 Sealed Artifacts. At the time, the combined strength of the Tarot Club, the Fool Church, New Moon City, and New White Bai Yin City was at best a match for them. Furthermore, the enemy had the protection of the "Hidden Sage," while Mr. Fool had yet to awaken, so the Major Arcana cards had not acted rashly, choosing instead to wait patiently.

Today, the opportunity had arrived.

Mr. Fool and other deities were responsible for hunting the "Hidden Sage"—the hardest part being how to locate and lock onto the target without letting It escape—while the Tarot Club and friendly forces were responsible for raiding the Moses Ascetic Order headquarters to purge the Beyonders who had been deeply influenced or corrupted by the "Hidden Sage."

Of course, the Tarot Club and the Fool Church did not dispatch all their high-sequence powerhouses; they had to guard against enemy factions and evil god cults taking advantage of Mr. Fool's personal hunt to launch a surprise attack on places like New White Bai Yin City. For the likes of Suah from the Rose School of Thought, winning wasn't the point; causing destruction to shake Mr. Fool's anchors was.

"The Messenger and Mr. Pallez must remain in the Sonia Sea..."

"Will and Mr. Azik won't participate in such matters..."

"Only I can move out. Fortunately, allies will also provide assistance..."

In a flash, numerous thoughts raced through the "Magician's" mind, eventually converging into one:

"But I still have to finish my manuscript..."

Her sigh did not affect her actions; she arrived beside the "Hermit" in a single step.

The fact that only she appeared did not mean she was the only angel descending; she had simply run faster and arrived first.

In the "Magician" lady's eyes, points of starlight suddenly converged, as if forming a book.

Immediately after, a giant sword composed of orange-red twilight light manifested out of thin air, pierced through the void, and slashed down onto the dark golden statue wearing a mask.

The twilight giant sword disintegrated, turning into countless orange-red shards of light that tore through everything in the vicinity, causing all things to be shredded, decay, and eventually collapse.

The three dark golden statues bore the brunt of the impact, shattering into tiny fragments within the storm formed by the twilight light. Each fragment was dull and rusted, as if it had undergone the erosion of long ages or reached its own twilight years.

Inside the palace, the walls, floors, and ceilings covered in strange, cold eyes collapsed in the orange-red storm, sliding down inch by inch before shattering.

This void also collapsed.

The "Magician" lady had long since switched positions, flashing into multiple figures to protect herself and the "Hermit" layer by layer.

There were cages filled with a sense of holiness and glory, and darkness curved into a sphere. By the time they shattered, the orange-red "Storm of Light" had completely subsided.

As the palace at the top of the Wizard Tower crumbled, another scene entered the "Hermit" Cattleya's eyes.

This was a long, deep tunnel leading to an unknown destination. The tunnel was very wide, as if composed of a series of connected rooms. In the current room, over a dozen wizards of various sequences were busy with their own tasks.

The current space seemed to be the reflection of the Wizard Tower—the other side of "Utopia," a hidden area the "Hermit" had been unable to enter.

It had been forcibly opened by the "Magician" using the "Storm of Light" created by the "Twilight Giant Sword" and the positioning capability of a Grade 0 Sealed Artifact.

The "Magician" lady did not delay; she threw out a mirror, disappeared from the spot with the "Hermit" lady, and flashed toward the depths of the dark tunnel.

The mirror she threw had not yet hit the ground when Lu Mian and Jenna, wearing black wizard robes but without their hoods up, stepped out.

The wizards in this room had just awakened from their focus and turned their gazes toward them.

Lu Mian and Jenna also saw what they were doing:

Some were cannibalizing dead infants, some were using infants to make potions, and some were extracting infant fat to smear onto artifacts—all sorts of things, all utilizing newborns to complete witchcraft, potions, or mystical items.

This... Lu Mian raised an eyebrow.

Although folklore always associated wizards with killing infants and children, or performing strange, inhumane witchcraft, Lu Mian knew this was not the mainstream of the "Wizard" pathway.

Were there wizards who did this? Were there such witchcrafts? Certainly, but they were definitely not common.

Who would have thought that within the Moses Ascetic Order, which emphasized morality and precepts and the motto "Do what thou wilt shall be the whole of the Law, but do no harm," such a practice would be so prevalent in the dark side of "Utopia"?

Of course, what surprised Lu Mian was not the corruption of the Moses Ascetic Order—that had already been established—otherwise, it wouldn't have degenerated from a respected organization with good relations with major churches into an evil, hidden cult.

What he found strange was that the practice of using infant corpses was so deeply ingrained; this was not something that could have formed in a year or two.

Infants inevitably reminded him of birth, of mothers.

Was the mutation of the "Hidden Sage" truly related to the "Mother Tree of Desire"? Did this trend begin when It brought evil and corruption to the Moses Ascetic Order? Utilizing birth and death? Lu Mian turned his head to look at Jenna, whose expression was one of shock followed by anger, and said quickly:

"This is yours."

He then flashed toward the depths of the wide, dark tunnel.

His mission was not here.

Jenna was participating in this operation because Lu Mian believed that the acting of a "Despair Witch" could also be completed through battle, slaughter, and destruction.

A witch who brings despair!

Jenna would not participate in the battle in the depths of "Utopia"; she was mainly responsible for clearing out the corrupted low-to-mid sequence wizards, bringing them despair. In this process, if she encountered saints, or even two or three saints, with the survival capabilities of a demigod witch, while winning might not be guaranteed, death was unlikely.

The wizards in the current room had realized that enemies had invaded. Some were preparing to release spells, some were taking advantage of the materials at hand, and some were trying to retrieve their magical items; not a single one retreated.

What excellent materials!

What excellent materials!

The heat of madness and greed burned in the eyes they cast upon Jenna.

Jenna, who had been angry, suddenly smiled, as if light had shone into this slightly gloomy world.

Those wizards of different sequences were all stunned, unable to do what they had intended.

Almost simultaneously, they felt the cold.

A layer of white frost condensed on the surfaces of their bodies, on their hair, and on the tables in front of them that held infant corpses and various materials.

They began to shiver, their joints stiffened, and their movements became noticeably labored and difficult.

Immediately after, crystal-clear ice spears pierced out from in front of Jenna, accurately piercing the bodies of every wizard, pinning them to the walls or the floor, their blood seeping out and freezing into ice.

Those wizards wanted to resist, but their bodies were not only frozen stiff, they were also bound and influenced by invisible spider silk, making it difficult to take any effective action.

Jenna did not kill them immediately, allowing the mystical plague she had spread while using "Charm" to wantonly erode these corrupted individuals, letting them clearly feel the constriction in their lungs, the burning in their brains, and the ebbing of their lives.

They began to despair.

The "Magician," roaming through the space, chased after them, leaving the "Hermit" behind.

Finally, having ignored other enemies along the way, she arrived at a desolate, boundless wilderness.

Toriobo, wearing a black hood and wizard robe, seemed to be in the depths of the wilderness.

He looked at the "Magician" lady from afar and raised his right palm.

A phantom figure was quickly outlined on the endless wilderness.

This was a spell derived from "Mystical Re-enactment."

As an angel who ascended in the mid-to-late Fourth Epoch, although Toriobo was not an initial member who founded the Moses Ascetic Order, he had lived for over a thousand years, witnessed many mystical events, and mastered much mystical knowledge, with which he had created several powerful spells.

—With the core ability of "Mystical Re-enactment," Beyonders of the Savant pathway could indeed grow stronger the longer they lived.

However, because too many people knew about major events like the "War of the Four Emperors" and the "Pale Disaster," Toriobo could not draw power from them to create spells that were terrifying even at the angel level, so he had to settle for second-best.

As soon as the phantom on the wilderness solidified, bloody chunks of flesh began to fall from its body.

Each chunk of flesh turned into a cold, emotionless eye. They quickly looked toward the "Magician" lady, spreading an aura of chaos, madness, and evil.

This was a spell Toriobo had created from the mysterious death of a founder of the Moses Ascetic Order:

"Gaze of Loss of Control"!
