Chapter 1104: Grain God
The moment the "Mother" card was taken out, before it could even be activated by an incantation, it seemed to sense something, and a layer of crimson light rippled across its surface.
It instantly transformed into an invisible vortex, crazily absorbing the spirit and spirituality of its holder.
Then, it became thick and heavy, turning into a miniature book.
The book flipped open with the wind, revealing its first page.
Depicted on it was Emperor Roselle, dressed as a farmer, leaning on a hoe and gazing at the rain clouds in the sky, with lines of text written in Ancient Futhark beside him:
"Sequence 9, Planter..."
Immediately following this, the book flipped backward rapidly, from "Sequence 8, Physician" all the way to "Sequence 1, Natural Walker."
After "Natural Walker" was a female version of Emperor Roselle, wearing a loose long dress, holding an infant, with two children standing beside her.
The name on this page was:
"Sequence 0, Mother"!
Almost simultaneously, a crimson moonlight lit up on the infant held in the arms of the female Emperor Roselle.
This grew brighter and brighter, making the infant gradually resemble a full moon, reflecting the true red moon hanging low in the sky, as if suspended above the church bell tower.
Within the miniature red moon, several lines of Ancient Futhark that hadn't been there before appeared:
"Sequence 1, Grain God (or Tree God)."
Below this brand-new Sequence 1 name, there was a description on the left and right:
"The Grain God is the root of heaven and earth."
"The Tree God supports heaven and connects earth, multiplying endlessly."
The man with scarlet eyes holding the "Mother" card had just begun to smile when his expression suddenly froze.
He lowered his head and discovered that segments of slightly withered brownish-brown tree roots were extending from the back of the "Blasphemy Card." These roots pierced into his body, growing and spreading into a massive root system, crazily draining his life force.
The man with scarlet eyes was stunned for a second, then relaxed his expression.
He already understood what was happening.
But it didn't matter; all things would eventually return to the earth, return to the embrace of the Mother!
I am just a little early, but I will feel the warmth and peace of the Mother's embrace sooner.
His full face began to sink, and his smooth skin withered bit by bit.
Inside the Twin Towers where the core of the New Bai Yin City was located, at the base of the round tower.
The seven or eight-meter-tall giant tree trunk, "sleeping" in the light of dawn and stuck in a pile of brownish-brown soil, suddenly trembled gently.
Its grayish-brown wood quickly exuded a sense of moisture, and the large amount of bark that had originally peeled off and was missing grew back at a speed visible to the naked eye.
The dawn light that filled the surroundings suddenly surged into its body, cutting through its "flesh" while witnessing its rebirth.
Its sense of withering gradually disappeared, and its overall form slowly became full.
Suddenly, it broke free from the shackles of the brownish-brown soil pile and disappeared from the base of the round tower.
Inside the headquarters church of the Fool Sect.
Lu Mian, having received the reminder from Jianna, turned his gaze back to the mirrors floating in front of him, and to the brownish-green "Shadow Tree" that was breaking through the ground and growing upward.
Anthony understood that Lu Mian already felt that the New Bai Yin City was not that safe either—here lay the remains of the former "Mother" of the Bai Yin City residents, the Giant Queen Omebella, and disaster needed to stay away from the Mother.
This would make a normal person think of fleeing immediately, but for a high-ranking person of the "Hunter" pathway, constant avoidance was not a choice that fit their own divinity:
Having fled Trier, must one flee the New Bai Yin City as well?
Must one keep fleeing forever?
Anthony believed that this would make Lu Mian surge with intense fighting spirit. If his humanity were not sufficient and his ability to control his own spirit and emotions were not strong, he would choose to return to Trier, to face the "Shadow Tree" directly, and to destroy the conspiracies of the evil god sects.
Before Anthony could open his mouth to persuade him, or even have time to use "Pacify," Lu Mian forcibly withdrew his gaze and let the floating mirrors fly back into the "Traveler's Bag."
He said in a deep voice to the team members:
"Transfer to the Serene Church now."
The Serene Cathedral is the headquarters and sanctuary of the Church of the "Evernight Goddess."
As he spoke, Lu Mian activated the black mark on his right shoulder and used "Teleport" once again.
Just as the Spirit Realm, with its overlapping color blocks and numerous strange creatures, appeared before them, the world suddenly spun, and they plummeted downward.
Lu Mian was just about to react when his feet already landed on solid ground.
They had arrived in a boundless wilderness overgrown with weeds, and deep within the wilderness grew an oak tree whose size was impossible to describe in words.
It was greenish-blue, its root system deeply embedded in the earth, its canopy piercing through the clouds, as if supporting the sky and holding up a crimson full moon.
It was like a pillar connecting heaven and earth, propping up the entire world and allowing this wilderness to exist.
On the mottled bark of the sky-supporting oak tree, there were many scorch marks from lightning strikes, but deep within these charred black areas, vitality was still contained.
The higher one went, the more new branches this oak tree had, many of which were entwined with lush, vibrant mistletoe.
At this moment, in the middle of this giant oak tree that supported the sky and anchored the earth, a large amount of mottled bark protruded, outlining a huge, gentle, woman-like face. Serving as the eyes of the face were two crimson, giant flowers.
"Mother...
"Omebella..."
These two terms flashed naturally through Lu Mian's mind.
He subconsciously wanted to activate the black mark on his right shoulder again, but he could not sense the Spirit Realm outside this wilderness, nor could he sense those areas he originally had coordinates for.
"Other Shore World"!
At the same time, Lu Mian remembered another thing:
His "Teleport" ability came from Gidas!
And Gidas was one of the twins of the "Great Mother," Omebella's younger brother, whose power was suspected to come from a Gift, and who currently did not possess Beyonder characteristics.
Even if such an angel was conquered by "0-01," there should still be a bit of the "Great Mother's" spirit hidden within the power on his body.
This was what the "Great Mother" was best at!
"Then, at the critical moment, sacrifice this bit of spirit, interfere with my 'Teleport,' and let me 'actively' enter the 'Other Shore World' created by the 'Earth Gift'? And the 'Earth Gift' appeared to have activated and gained a strange enhancement at some point..." Such a thought flashed rapidly through Lu Mian's mind.
Franca's lake-blue eyes had already become deep, as if layers upon layers of gloom were hidden within them.
Among the greenish fields where several scarecrows stood.
The figure of the "Magician" lady, wearing a white nightgown, opened the door cast from brilliant starlight and walked into this dream.
She only looked around once before having a guess about the weaver of the dream:
"Eudfana?"
This was an ancient Mind Dragon, an "Observer" of angel rank.
Excluding those who had become human, He was one of the three ancient dragons currently remaining.
"What happened in the outside world?" the "Justice" lady, Audrey, asked instead of answering.
As a "Dream Weaver," she had tried to leave this dream, but had not succeeded.
The "Magician" lady answered truthfully:
"The 'Shadow Tree' in Trier has caused a commotion again, suspected to have received help from subordinates of the 'Great Mother.' However, don't worry, Mr. 'Fool' has already descended there."
The "Justice" lady revealed a puzzled expression:
"So, Eudfana took this opportunity to come find me?
"How did He know that Mr. 'Fool' would descend to Trier?"
The "Magician" lady paused for a moment and said:
"Luring me over to help should also be in His arrangements...
"So, you have enough time to pray to Mr. 'Fool,' recite my name, and have not encountered a surprise attack."
Just as this "Traveler" finished speaking, the high sky of the dream was suddenly shrouded by a shadow.
That shadow was a grayish-white, circling, flying giant dragon with a lizard-like face that revealed a clear sense of old age.
Trier, Mr. "Fool," wearing a top hat and a black trench coat, was not affected by the ground and tree branches. He pierced through layers of void and landed in front of the trunk of the brownish-green "Shadow Tree."
He thrust the star-dusted cane in his palm forward, seeing the thick, solid bark collapse in large quantities and be destroyed along with it.
Every piece of bark, every branch, every leaf suddenly became illusory, presenting scenes of Trier citizens displaying different desires over the past one or two thousand years.
There were normal ones, and indulgent ones; there were affairs at various luxurious parties, and warmth of being tightly embraced in the cold environment of a narrow room; there was the waste of leaving tables full of delicacies, and the stinginess of not being willing to let the children eat their fill...
They were interwoven layer after layer, stacked down; it was heavy history, it was a classic of desires, not something that could be completely destroyed by normal attacks; it needed to be peeled away layer by layer.
Mr. "Fool" withdrew the star-dusted cane.
Grayish-white mist surged along with it, shrouding the main trunk of the "Shadow Tree" within.
"Fog of History"!
Fourth Epoch Trier.
Angouleme and the other "Unshadowed" were just about to make the "Fourth Day" rise higher to clear away the Monsouri ghosts who were throwing themselves one after another into the formless and colorless flames, when they suddenly heard the sound of "waa" in their ears.
It was the crying of an infant, and there was no telling how many infants were crying.
Jack Walton and the others immediately looked toward the entrance of this street and saw a figure walking over staggeringly.
That figure had chestnut-colored long hair and azure eyes, and was deliberately dressed as Emperor Roselle.
His body had already swollen, and bird-clawed infants were tearing through the flesh and skin on his ribs, abdomen, chest, thighs, and arms, crying loudly as they sought to be nursed.
Inside the "Other Shore World."
Lu Mian's voice echoed in the hearts of Franca and the others:
"Do not enter the Mirror World for now."
The Mirror World was connected to the special Mirror World!
In the current chaotic scene, there was no telling who might be lying in ambush in the Mirror World, waiting to drag them into the special Mirror World!
Since they had already encountered the "Mother," they shouldn't step into the trap of the special Mirror World as well.
Lu Mian leaned his body slightly, looked at the giant oak tree that supported the sky and connected the earth, and said with a smile within the team's minds:
"Since we didn't escape, then, fight!"
