Chapter 212: Acknowledgments and a Two-Day Leave to Write a Detailed Outline or 2!
Acknowledgments and a two-day leave to write a detailed outline or 2!
Acknowledgments and a two-day leave to write a detailed outline or 2!
I originally planned to take one day off, but today I wrote part of the outline and realized I’d need another full day to finish the updates after completing the outline—there’s not enough time, so I’m taking two days off and will update on Thursday morning or 2!
The content of the first three volumes is, strictly speaking, one volume divided into three parts: it begins in Chapter Two of the novel when the protagonist encounters three thugs collecting dragon whisker grass and continues until He Tianqi flees south—this arc isn’t perfectly interlocked, but all characters do revolve around this thread.
This thread hasn’t ended yet; the first three volumes are merely the prologue of the entire book, introducing part of the Southern Dynasty’s layout as planned, and presenting several key characters.
The main plot outline for this book is quite complete—the ending was already set in Chapter One—but before Aguan started writing, even with his strongest mental capacity, he could only conceive of seventy to eighty thousand words of plot; beyond that, he only knew the broad direction.
By the time Sanjiangkou was finished, all his prior preparations were exhausted, and he hadn’t even begun planning what came next; he wrote as if walking on thin ice, daring not to write carelessly, so he took two days off to finish the detailed outline before resuming.
Although Aguan started the novel in February, he began preparing for it back in June last year; the discarded drafts before launch, while not reaching a million words, certainly totaled seventy to eighty thousand, and to maintain updates, he prepared thirty thousand words of backup material—but the backup ran out before April, and everything after was written on the spot; when it flowed well, it was fine, but when it didn’t, rewriting inevitably ate up time, causing unstable update schedules.
But Aguan is indeed giving his absolute best to update or 2!
Aguan doesn’t possess extraordinary innate talent—he plots excruciatingly slowly, and his life experience is shallow; after writing four million words, he only just learned how to enter the world of web novels; only after finishing The Crown Prince and the Immortal Maiden did he grasp how to write well enough to succeed; even now, he’s still only half-versed, slowly feeling his way across the river.
If Aguan wants to write something he’s satisfied with, he can only grind it out with time—he writes from waking to sleeping, going out for only an hour every few days, spending less time outside than a prisoner on yard break, and yet he still can’t match the masters who write three or four hours of plot every day.
In six years, Aguan has written fifteen million words, and now he realizes that explosive updates can’t change a book’s success; if the writing is bad, daily ten-thousand-word bursts only bring fleeting satisfaction—by the end, half the readers will have left, and Aguan has already experienced this once; if the book is good, even annual updates remain a masterpiece—readers may curse during updates, but they still read at the end; slow updates deserve criticism, but as long as the story doesn’t end poorly or get abandoned, readers will merely put the book on hold, not abandon it entirely; focusing solely on explosive updates to retain readers while neglecting quality only backfires.
Still, Aguan is doing his utmost to write well while trying to update as often as possible; occasional instability or leave-taking is because he’s thinking through how to write better—hope the masters can understand or 2!
The book’s performance has far exceeded Aguan’s expectations—he sincerely thanks all the masters for their overwhelming support or 2!

I originally planned to release a discarded opening as a side story, to entertain everyone and show what the initial concepts for many characters were.
But it’s too long, and the parallel-world content might confuse readers’ understanding of the story, so I’ll post it in the group instead—those interested can join the group to read it or 2!
