Chapter 1379
Su Xinghui's words made Gu Shanmin and Lu Zhenghong very excited. Gu Shanmin said, "Xinghui, I find that every time I see you, there is a surprise. The idea you've come up with this time is truly excellent and highly operational. Comrade Zhenghong, have you been inspired?"
Lu Zhenghong nodded and said, "I am deeply inspired. This has given me some insights into how to improve the work efficiency of government organs."
Gu Shanmin then asked Su Xinghui, "How did you think of these things?"
Su Xinghui said, "I once read two lines while studying: 'Governance should only seek the convenience of the people; all matters should be open to public discussion.' This is a couplet written by Liang Zhangju, the Viceroy of Liangjiang during the Qing Dynasty. I was thinking, if a feudal bureaucrat could write such a couplet, why can't we, the cadres of the Communist Party, who come from the masses ourselves, keep the convenience of the people in our hearts? Requiring hundreds of stamps and several months for one procedure is truly too exaggerated."
Gu Shanmin said, "So you came up with these ideas?"
Su Xinghui said, "I was just thinking randomly."
Gu Shanmin said, "This isn't random thinking; your ideas are excellent. 'Governance should only seek the convenience of the people; all matters should be open to public discussion.' Good! To reach this realm, those in power must always keep the interests of the masses in their hearts and think of the masses' interests in everything. It is a pity that many of our cadres, who come from the masses, have turned themselves into high-and-mighty officials, disregarding the interests of the masses and only caring about their own promotion and wealth."
Lu Zhenghong said, "If we really build an administrative service center in the future, I think it is necessary to write this couplet on the wall of the center, so that all staff can see it at a glance. I think this could at least serve as a small reminder."
Gu Shanmin nodded and said, "Your suggestion is excellent. Xinghui, how about this: write this couplet for us on the spot today. I want to hang it in my office so I can see it every day, and it will always remind me to remember that I, too, come from the people. I am just an ordinary mountain dweller, and I must always put the interests of the masses first."
Su Xinghui said, "Thank you, Uncle Gu, for your high regard. However, I haven't written in a long time, so I fear I may be a bit rusty."
