Chapter 1556

As long as these highways were all built well, Changshan County's external highways could be said to be accessible in all directions, at least becoming a hub for six counties. With these highways, the materials from these places would naturally circulate with Changshan County as the center, and Changshan County, as the center, would naturally receive the greatest benefits.

Not to mention anything else, just the vehicle traffic between these six counties already brought a considerable amount of toll revenue to Changshan County.

For this reason, Su Xinghui carried out strict supervision of these tolls. He instructed the County Transportation Bureau to specifically open a special account and deposit the tolls received every day into this special account. Su Xinghui had to be informed of every expenditure, and he would have the bank print out an account list every month. If there were expenditures he did not know about, he would immediately call the Transportation Bureau Chief to inquire.

Professor Qin said, "With this road built well, it will be convenient for you to return to Jiangcheng in the future. Driving so fast, you can return to Jiangcheng in about two hours."

Lu Xiaoya said, "Teacher Qin, Teacher Tang, if you want to come to Changshan to play in the future, you can also come often."

Professor Qin smiled and said, "Can our old bones still withstand such bumping often?"

Professor Tang said, "You don't say, you seem to have gained weight after staying here for a month."

Professor Qin nodded and said, "That's true. It's mainly because Changshan County's climate is too good; I sleep comfortably every night. When a person is comfortable, wouldn't they gain weight?"

Lu Xiaoya said, "Then why don't you come often? How about this, every summer vacation in the future, you come with Teacher Tang, and bring Teacher's wife too, to spend a comfortable summer here."

Su Xinghui nodded and said, "This is a good idea. If the expressway from Changshan to Jiangcheng is built in the future, it will only take a little over an hour to drive there. You can come when you want and leave when you want. Wouldn't that be very convenient?"

Professor Qin said with emotion, "It's truly much more convenient now. Back when I was sent down to Yulin City, it would absolutely take no less than three or four hours to return to Jiangcheng from Yulin. The bumping on the road would almost make a person fall apart. Now, it only takes such a short time to make a trip from Jiangcheng to Changshan, and it's so smooth. It's truly unimaginable!"

Professor Tang said, "Brother Qin, the days ahead will only get better and better. Let's just wait to enjoy the blessings."

Amidst laughter and joy, the Land Rover drove to Jiangcheng. Su Xinghui sent the two professors to Jiangcheng University, first parked the car downstairs at Professor Tang's house, and helped Professor Tang send the big and small bags of things upstairs.

These things, besides the luggage Professor Tang brought himself, were all some local specialties of Changshan. Professor Tang did not accept a lecture fee, but Changshan County could not have no expression at all, so they brought several bags of Changshan specialties, such as dried bamboo shoots, dried bracken, Matou mutton, shiitake mushrooms, wood ear mushrooms, tea, etc., for Professor Tang.

Professor Tang knew that his not accepting a lecture fee had already made the county leaders of Changshan feel somewhat uneasy. If he refused these specialties again, it would be somewhat impolite, so he gladly accepted them.

Su Xinghui sent all these things to Professor Tang's home, and then said to Professor Tang, "Thank you, Professor Tang!"

Professor Tang said, "Xinghui, don't be so polite. It is I who should say thank you. The experience in Changshan County this time has indeed been quite a big harvest for me. I think my research will definitely have some new results. This is all thanks to you!"

Su Xinghui said, "It is still your help that is greater to us. Alright, you go home and have a good rest. I will leave first."

Professor Tang sent Su Xinghui out the door. Su Xinghui went downstairs and sent Professor Qin home again. Changshan County Government also arranged many specialties for Professor Qin. Su Xinghui also helped Professor Qin send the things home, and then returned to Lu Xiaoya's home.

Today is a weekend. Lu Zhenghong and Song Qiaoli, the couple, knew that their daughter and son-in-law were returning today, so they didn't go anywhere and were waiting for them at home.

Seeing their daughter and son-in-law return, they both stood up with smiles. Song Qiaoli said, "You're back. Was the journey smooth?"

Su Xinghui said, "Very smooth. Now the Changyu Highway is fully open to traffic, and the driving speed is much faster than before. It only took less than two hours to drive to Jiangcheng today."

Song Qiaoli said in surprise, "So fast? Driving should still be slower; safety first."

Su Xinghui said, "It's fine, Mom. I have a sense of proportion when driving."

Lu Xiaoya sat between her grandmother and mother. Lu Zhenghong stood up and said, "Xinghui, come with me for a moment."

Su Xinghui followed Lu Zhenghong into the study. Lu Zhenghong said, "Your Changyu Highway is already open to traffic?"

It had only been a few days since the Changyu Highway opened to traffic, and such a piece of news was only reported in the local media of Yulin City. It was normal for Lu Zhenghong not to know. Now Changshan County was changing with each passing day, and almost every day there were projects completed. It was impossible for Su Xinghui to call Lu Zhenghong to report every single detail.

Su Xinghui nodded and said, "Yes, it was just a few days ago."

Lu Zhenghong said, "How is the traffic volume now?"

Su Xinghui said, "The traffic volume is not small. Now there are quite a few new enterprises built and put into production in Changshan County, and the goods of these enterprises need to be transported out. It was really too slow to transport them through the old Changyu Highway before. Now they have basically switched to the new road, and coupled with other vehicles, this new road is quite busy now."

Lu Zhenghong nodded and said, "The completion of this road is very important to your Changshan County."

Su Xinghui said, "Yes, in a short while, the first phase of the slaughtering base of Jiangcheng Meat Union Group will also be built and put into production. By then, the volume of materials in and out will be even greater, and the role this road plays will be very big."

Lu Zhenghong said, "Since you mentioned this slaughtering base, then tell me, how is the animal husbandry in your county developing now?"

Lu Zhenghong had always been very concerned about the animal husbandry in Changshan County because this was one of the pillar industries of Changshan County in the future, and it was even more related to the income of thousands of ordinary people in Changshan County.

The current Lu Zhenghong did not just pay attention to those simple GDP figures, but paid more attention to people's livelihood issues. The scene he saw when he first went to Menghuling left too deep an impression on him. He always remembered those two pitiful old people, and he would always keep that pitiful appearance in his heart.

Although he specifically went to see that old person when he went to Menghuling for the second time, their living conditions had improved a lot, and he also believed that their living conditions would get better and better now. However, he could also imagine that in places outside Menghuling, there were still countless rural people whose lives were still very difficult.

Therefore, Lu Zhenghong, serving as this Vice Governor in charge of the economy, besides being committed to developing the economy, was committed to increasing farmers' income.

Su Xinghui said, "The situation of animal husbandry in Changshan County is very good now, and the breeding scale is expanding very fast. It is expected that after the first phase of the slaughtering base of Jiangcheng Meat Union is built and put into production, the slaughter volume of Matou goats in Changshan County this year can reach about fifty thousand. Jiangcheng No. 1 beef cattle cannot be slaughtered temporarily this year, but by next year, it is possible for the slaughter volume to reach over two thousand, and it will only be more year by year in the future."

Lu Zhenghong nodded and said, "This year is the first year, and being able to develop to this point is considered very good. The output value of your county's animal husbandry this year should be able to reach tens of millions, right? The most important thing is that these incomes are the direct income of farmers, which can directly improve their living conditions. This is what I value the most."

Su Xinghui said, "It's a pity that there are too many poor farmers in Changshan County, at least over three hundred thousand. This money looks like a lot, but when spread out to each person, it is not too much. Therefore, if we want to truly improve the plight of poor farmers, the road we have to walk is still very long."
