Chapter 1663

Ling'an County's head nodded cheerfully: "Alright, I'll definitely come tonight—it's also a celebration of your wedding."

Su Xinghui stood up and said: "Then I'll be going back."

Back in his office, An Dachang arrived shortly after; the first thing he said upon sitting down was: "County Chief Su, congratulations on your wedding!"

An Dachang had a strange feeling—he was already in his early forties, his child was already a teenager, yet his young superior had just gotten married; it felt truly odd, but this superior truly earned his respect—he did not disrespect Su Xinghui because of his youth.

Especially this time, when he attended Su Xinghui's wedding, Su Xinghui's refusal to accept gift money deepened An Dachang's admiration.

How many powerful county leaders like Su Xinghui don't accept gift money from subordinates? For such opportunities to host banquets and collect gifts, they only wish there were more; their subordinates seize these chances to openly present lavish gifts, and generally, no one investigates such gift money because everyone accepts it.

How many corrupt deals between power and money are carried out openly under such pretenses!

Previously, the vice-county chief in charge of transportation and urban construction was Zhao Yanggan; back then, Zhao Yanggan held power and hosted banquets frequently—today his son entered university, tomorrow his father turned eighty, the day after his mother's birthday, and even his own forty-eighth birthday he celebrated, claiming it was his benmingnian.

When he truly had no excuse, he would simply check into a hospital for a short stay—how could any subordinate or construction contractor dare not visit him with gift money?

During holidays and festivals, these became even better opportunities for him to amass wealth; it was said that every year, construction bosses working on projects in Changshan County had to offer Zhao Yanggan at least ten thousand yuan each, otherwise they wouldn't get any projects in Changshan County the next year.

Now that the vice-county chief has been replaced by Su Xinghui, Su Xinghui's conduct differs entirely from Zhao Yanggan's; An Dachang genuinely respects this young vice-county chief.
