Chapter 1746

Li Shuqin said, "Then go wash your hands quickly and hurry up to eat."

After Su Xinghui and Lu Xiaoya finished washing their hands, the three of them sat at the dining table and began to eat. Ordinary people like Li Shuqin did not know that County Magistrate Su had been under investigation; she still thought Lu Xiaoya had really returned home to visit her grandmother. She asked, "Xiaoya, is your grandmother's health better now?"

Lu Xiaoya nodded and said, "My grandmother is better now, she's fine. Thank you for your concern, Auntie Li."

Li Shuqin said, "Why are you thanking me? It is I who should thank you two. I haven't done any work for this whole month, yet County Magistrate Su still paid me my wages."

Lu Xiaoya said, "This is as it should be. If it were me, I would still have to pay you your wages. It wasn't that you didn't want to work this month; it was just that there was no work to be done at home."

Li Shuqin said, "No matter what, I still have to thank you. I have never encountered such good employers as you before."

Lu Xiaoya smiled and said, "You are also a good nanny. As long as you are willing, you can take care of my child in the future too. We get along just like a family; from now on, just treat this place as your home and don't stand on ceremony with us."

Hearing these heartwarming words, Li Shuqin felt warm inside and felt her nose sting a little. She nodded vigorously and picked up her rice bowl, eating heartily; if she hadn't done that, her tears might have fallen.

Ever since she was laid off, Li Shuqin had seen too many cold shoulders. When had she ever heard such words, and from the wife of a deputy county magistrate at that? She made up her mind that she would definitely take care of Lu Xiaoya as if she were her own daughter.
