Chapter 2930

"Mr. Chu's painting?" Su Xinghui became interested all of a sudden: "Then I must take a look."

As soon as Cai Jianguo entered the door, Su Xinghui saw the brocade box in his hand. It looked like it contained a scroll, either a calligraphy work or a painting. Sure enough, it was a painting, and a work by Chu Zhongtian, the president of the Yanbei Provincial Painting Academy, which made him very interested.

Chu Zhongtian is the president of the Yanbei Provincial Painting Academy and naturally a nationally famous painter. He is especially good at freehand landscape painting. Su Xinghui had long admired his name but had never seen his authentic work. If the scroll in Cai Jianguo's hand was truly his authentic work, Su Xinghui really wanted to take a good look.

Su Xinghui brought Cai Jianguo into his study. Cai Jianguo saw that Su Xinghui's study was full of calligraphy and paintings, and couldn't help but praise: "I've long heard that Mayor Su is a master of both calligraphy and painting; it really lives up to its reputation!"

Su Xinghui smiled, "You flatter me!"

Cai Jianguo took the painting out of the brocade box, and Su Xinghui and he spread it out on the desk together. Once the painting was opened, Su Xinghui examined it carefully. After a long while, Su Xinghui nodded and said, "I have long admired Mr. Chu's name, but only after seeing this painting today do I realize that Mr. Chu is truly worthy of the name!"

This painting was indeed of a very high level, grand and imposing, with both form and spirit. The large characters "Northern Scenery" on the painting were also written in a bold and vigorous style.

This painting was exactly in Chu Zhongtian's style; Su Xinghui had seen his other works in art magazines.

Cai Jianguo said, "So, this painting is an authentic work?"

Su Xinghui said, "Undoubtedly authentic! A fake could not possibly capture such grandeur and spirit. Not only is it authentic, but it should also be one of Mr. Chu's finest works."

Cai Jianguo nodded and said, "That's good."

Su Xinghui said, "Congratulations, Mayor Cai. This painting can definitely be passed down as a family heirloom."

Cai Jianguo shook his head and said, "Hi, a rough guy like me, what do I know about this? I came today because if it were authentic, I intended to give this painting to you."

Su Xinghui waved his hand quickly and said, "That won't do. This painting is one of Mr. Chu's finest works and is too valuable. I cannot accept it; Mayor Cai should take it back."

Cai Jianguo said, "I don't understand this painting, and it would be a waste in my hands. As the saying goes, goods should be sold to those who appreciate them, and a precious sword should be gifted to a hero. Giving this painting to you is just right."

Su Xinghui asked, "Mayor Cai, did you come here today because you have something you need my help with?"

Cai Jianguo became a bit fidgety and said, "It's nothing major."

Su Xinghui said, "If you have something you need my help with, then take the painting away. If you don't take the painting, I can't help you with anything."

Cai Jianguo said, "How can you make me feel so embarrassed?"

Su Xinghui said solemnly, "I've been in Baozhou for so long, and Mayor Cai, you should know my character. I never accept anyone's gifts. However, you can rest assured that as long as it's something I can help you with, I will not shirk."

As he spoke, Su Xinghui rolled up the painting again, put it back into the brocade box, and handed it to Cai Jianguo.
