Chapter 294

Su Xinghui said, "Alright, next time I'll help you get some books for your reading room too."

Fang Youcai said happily, "That would be great!"

Luo Ping looked at the books on agricultural techniques and also said, "Branch Secretary Fang, next time I go back, I'll talk to our school and donate a batch of books on agricultural techniques to you. However, most of them might be old books."

Fang Youcai and Zhao Zhongfu didn't expect such a harvest. They were grinning from ear to ear. Fang Youcai said, "Professor Luo, as long as there are books to read, how could we be picky about whether they are new or old!"

Chen Hongfu joked, "Then your reading room must be built a bit larger, otherwise there won't be any place to put them when there are more books in the future!"

Fang Youcai laughed and said, "Then it must be built a bit larger."

Chen Hongfu said, "This idea of yours is very good. It seems we should promote it throughout the township and strive to have a reading room in every village this year."

Fang Youcai said, "Then our Ye Zhugou Village will also contribute to the township. We will provide bamboo bookshelves to the township free of charge—the kind made of bamboo—and let the bamboo weaving factory weave them."

A voice came from the door, "What are you letting our bamboo weaving factory weave?"

Everyone turned to look. It was Xia Lan, and Xia Zhu was following behind her. They smiled and wished Chen Hongfu and Su Xinghui a Happy New Year and exchanged pleasantries.

Fang Youcai said, "Secretary Chen saw our reading room and thought it was good, wanting to promote it throughout the township. I said we would provide these bamboo bookshelves to the township for free. Your ears are sharp; you heard it right away. How about it? Do you, as the factory director, agree?"

Xia Lan laughed, "No problem. Our Ye Zhugou Village has only been receiving support from the township. At this time, we must support the township too!"

Chen Hongfu said happily, "Then it's settled. I'll start promoting this as soon as I go back."

Xia Zhu had been looking at Su Xinghui with affection. Su Xinghui asked, "Xia Zhu, is your father's health any better?"

Xia Zhu nodded, "He still exercises every day, and he's much stronger than before. By the way, I went to pay a New Year's visit to Dr. Yu a few days ago."

Su Xinghui asked, "My uncle? You went all that way to pay a New Year's visit?"

Xia Zhu nodded, "Of course I had to go. Dr. Yu saved my father. My father's legs are inconvenient, so of course I had to go pay the visit."
