Chapter 2988

In the following days, Guan Tongfu ran all over the mines in Baozhou City and took hundreds of samples. He tested these samples and also calculated the area of land polluted by heavy metals in Baozhou City.

The land polluted by heavy metals in the whole of Baozhou City reached nearly 300,000 mu. These lands were polluted by those wastewaters and rainwater polluted by waste residues. Wherever these rainwaters flowed, the land would be polluted.

Among them, the land subject to heavy pollution was about 100,000 mu.

After these few days of getting along, Su Xinghui, Xin Jing, and Yu Ruizhi also had a relatively clear understanding of Guan Tongfu's talent. Guan Tongfu had real skills, and he was indeed an excellent scientist.

Yu Ruizhi had decided to invest 100 million yuan in Guan Tongfu to establish a Tongfu Environmental Protection Technology Co., Ltd. in Baozhou City. This Tongfu Environmental Protection Technology Co., Ltd. would be committed to the environmental protection cause of Baozhou City.

At the mayor's office meeting on this day, Xin Jing put an investigation report on the status of heavy metal pollution in Baozhou City, which was written by combining Guan Tongfu's investigation data, in front of every mayor.

Wei Ziming and others flipped through this investigation report. Some of the data in this investigation report made them feel shocked. They didn't expect that the heavy metal pollution in Baozhou City had reached such a degree. If Su Xinghui and Xin Jing hadn't stopped the illegal activities of those private mines, if they continued, the heavy metal pollution in Baozhou City would reach an unimaginable degree.

Xin Jing said, "Mayor Wei, comrades, the heavy metal pollution in Baozhou City has reached the point where it must be treated. Now the area of land polluted in Baozhou City has reached tens of thousands of mu. On these lands, it is no longer suitable to plant agricultural products directly eaten by people. Various water sources on these lands have also been polluted. As time goes on, we may not even have drinking water."

"Therefore, we must treat these lands polluted by heavy metals. It just so happens that this time there is a Dr. Guan who returned from the United States. He has mastered the technology of restoring and treating heavy metal polluted land. Our municipal government can cooperate with him and invite him to help treat the heavy metal pollution in Baozhou City."

Wei Ziming looked at the investigation report and raised his head to say to Xin Jing, "Comrade Xin Jing, how much money is needed to treat these polluted lands?"

Xin Jing said, "It is estimated that to treat these polluted lands, it will take about 300 to 500 million yuan in funds every year. Moreover, if you want to fully restore these polluted lands to the level where agricultural products can be planted, it will take more than ten years."

Wei Ziming gasped. Such a huge capital investment, and once invested, it will take ten years. This is too terrible. He pondered for a moment and said to Cai Jianguo, "Old Cai, how is the city's financial situation? Can you take out such a sum of funds?"

Cai Jianguo said, "The city's financial situation is still good now, and the mines that were nationalized some time ago can also be reopened for mining and smelting soon. This part of the income can be used to restore and treat these polluted lands, which will not affect the city's finances."
