Chapter 39

Su Xinghui said, "Thanks are not necessary. I only hope that Menghuling's economy can develop through our efforts."

Wan Xing'an said with longing, "Yes, now the national economy is developing. If our Menghuling can also become prosperous one day, how good would that be!"

After two o'clock in the afternoon, Professor Rao and Yu Gaoshan were both well-rested. Accompanied by Chen Hongfu, Dong Jianshu, Li Maofare, and Su Xinghui, the group rode bicycles to Yezhugou. Also accompanying them was a technician from the Livestock Station named Zhang Xiaochuan. He was also very young this year, only twenty-five years old, and a graduate of the regional agricultural school.

Although Professor Rao was the oldest, he was from an agricultural background and was in excellent health. Riding a bicycle and walking on mountain roads was not a problem for him at all. The rest of the group naturally had no problems, and the group moved very quickly.

Chen Hongfu apologized to Rao and Yu, "Professor Rao, Boss Yu, I'm really sorry for the neglect today. This is a rural area, and we don't even have a decent car, so we can only wrong you by riding bicycles."

Professor Rao said, "What does this count as? In previous years, when I went to cities and counties below to conduct experiments, I rode a bicycle for over a hundred kilometers. Now that there is a bus to take, the conditions are already much better."

Yu Gaoshan also said, "Chen Shuji, I am just a farmer at home, and I am used to riding a bicycle, so please don't be so polite."

Talking along the way, they soon arrived at Yezhugou. Before coming, Chen Hongfu had called the Village Committee. As a result, as soon as they arrived at the village entrance, oh my, what a grand welcoming scene it was.

Led by village cadres such as Fang Youcai, Zhao Zhongfu, Xia Lan, and Gao Daping, at least two or three hundred people had set up a welcoming formation at the village entrance. If it hadn't been notified on short notice, I'm afraid they would have had the welcoming crowd pick up red silk, beat drums and gongs, and dance to welcome them.

Seeing Chen Hongfu and his group arrive, led by Fang Youcai, all the villagers of Yezhugou shouted, "Welcome, welcome, a warm welcome! Welcome, welcome, a warm welcome!"

The welcoming scene created by Yezhugou made Chen Hongfu feel that he had a lot of face. He said with a smile, "This Fang Youcai, his organizational ability is not bad."

Professor Rao said, "Chen Shuji, this is too grand, it shouldn't have been done like this."

Chen Hongfu said with a smile, "It's okay, Professor Rao. This is because the villagers heard that experts and bosses from the provincial capital have come to help them get rich. They are happy in their hearts, otherwise, it would be impossible for so many people to come."

Chen Hongfu was indeed right. If it hadn't been for this matter, it would have been difficult for Fang Youcai and the others to mobilize so many people to welcome them. In the past few days, they had already communicated with the villagers in the village about the farm and the bamboo weaving factory, letting them prepare, so everyone knew about this matter.

Everyone didn't expect the township government's actions to be so fast, with results in just two days. Therefore, when they talked about it in each household at noon today, everyone was very excited and followed them out to welcome them.

Surrounded by two or three hundred people, the group arrived at the Village Committee. The village cadres followed them into the Village Committee's office, while other villagers could only watch from the outside.

Among so many people, Su Xinghui immediately discovered a pair of particularly hot eyes, which were Xia Zhu's. She had been following behind Xia Lan, staring at him without blinking. Su Xinghui could only smile at her. He didn't expect that this smile would make red clouds fly across her face.

Xia Lan and Gao Daping poured tea for everyone. Chen Hongfu introduced the identities of Professor Rao and Yu Gaoshan to the village cadres. Fang Youcai nodded happily and said, "Welcome, welcome, you are the honored guests of our Yezhugou!"

Chen Hongfu asked, "Youcai, have you made any preparations in the past few days?"

Fang Youcai nodded repeatedly, "Prepared, prepared. In the past few days, we mobilized all the men in the village and caught a litter of wild boars, more than a dozen pheasants, and more than a dozen bamboo rats. They are all alive and are being raised in the cow shed where the village used to raise cattle."

Professor Rao became interested immediately, "Really? Then let's go take a look now."

Just like that, the group didn't even have their seats warmed before they rushed to the village's cow shed.

The village's cow shed covered a considerable area. During the time of the big collective, it was the place where the village raised cattle. Later, when the household contract responsibility system was implemented, the village stopped raising cattle, and the cow shed was left idle. Now, it was just right to temporarily house these caught wild animals.

The cow shed was not far from the Village Committee, and the group arrived in just a few minutes. Those onlookers also followed behind.
