Chapter 723

Peng Yuwen laughed, "Mayor Su, is what you said true? Can we really use these machines next year?"

Su Xinghui nodded, "I will definitely work hard to let you use agricultural machinery as soon as possible. In a while, people from the county machinery factory will come here to ask for everyone's opinions to see what kind of machinery you need. Otherwise, it's too tiring for you to farm more than ten mu of land by yourself."

Peng Yuwen was smiling happily. Luo Ping looked at the land in Xiaohu Village and nodded, "This is all a large plain; there are indeed conditions for using agricultural machinery, which can greatly improve labor efficiency."

Huang Chuanyong said, "But now that production is contracted to households, each family only has ten mu or so of land, and some have even less. Is it a bit difficult to ask them all to use agricultural machinery?"

Rao Songnian said, "I don't think it's a problem. When we were in Menghuling, weren't they also using agricultural machinery? That's because they established cooperatives and purchased agricultural machinery as a unit to use together. I think it's entirely possible to establish such cooperatives here too."

Su Xinghui laughed, "Professor Rao, you have spoken to my heart. I am just thinking of establishing cooperatives here. However, planting only food crops obviously results in too low an income, so I specifically invited you agricultural experts here to guide them in planting cash crops, let them establish cooperatives, and increase the farmers' income."

After hearing this, Peng Yuwen asked, "Are these few agricultural experts? Then can you guide me on how to farm? I put a lot of effort into farming, but the yield just won't go up. If there are no natural disasters, I get five or six hundred jin, but if there is a natural disaster, I only harvest two or three hundred jin."

Su Xinghui said, "Grandpa Peng, rest assured, they are experts from Jiangcheng Agricultural University. I invited these experts here just to guide your agricultural technology. They will also guide you in planting some cash crops to increase your income. In this way, Grandpa Peng, you will be able to live a good life in the future."

Luo Ping laughed, "Grandpa Peng, if you have any questions about agriculture, feel free to ask us; we will definitely answer every question."

Peng Yuwen turned his head and shouted to the fellow villagers who were working in the fields, "Everyone, come over! These are experts from the provincial capital; they are here to guide us on how to farm. Everyone, come over and listen!"

Peng Yuwen's shouting made many people stop their work and walk over. Someone said, "There are experts teaching us how to farm? Then we must listen carefully. Why is the yield of my family's fields always not high?"

"That's right, why does my family's rice always get rice planthoppers? Every time the rice is about to be harvested, it happens; what a huge loss!"

"How should we prevent rice stem borers?"
