That night, Su Xinghui didn't finish writing the article until the small hours of the morning. Fortunately, the next day was Sunday, and he had already learned Elder Yu's Five Animal Frolics, so he no longer needed to teach it — meaning he could afford to sleep in a little later.

Su Xinghui had developed a habit in his previous life: he had to write at night. At night, staying in a high-floor hotel room, in that utterly silent environment, he felt especially inspired. With a single sweep of his brush, he could finish an article of several thousand words in one evening.

After finishing, he read the article through from beginning to end and felt fairly satisfied. He had basically written out his entire line of thinking on the work, and hadn't shown off any literary flair — the whole piece was plain, unadorned prose. Actually, that was what moved people most.

In accordance with Yu Yan'an's requirements, he had not deliberately described the hardships of the countryside in the article, only writing out some concrete examples and lines of thinking for developing the rural economy.

Su Xinghui had an excellent habit for writing articles. Basically, once he had worked out the outline in his head, he would start writing — one could say he never needed to pause and revise. The entire article finished, not even a single typo. His handwriting was also beautiful; across a dozen pages of paper, everything was crisp and clean, needing no recopying at all.

Su Xinghui nodded in satisfaction, put the article into his bag, and went to sleep. He planned to hand the article over to Yu Yan'an the very next day.

The next morning, a little past eight, Su Xinghui was still asleep. The day before, he had told Yu Ruizhi and his sister, as well as Lu Xiaoya, that he would likely be writing late into the night, so he asked them not to come looking for him too early today. He slept soundly.

Just then, there was a knock at the door. Su Xinghui was a light sleeper — at the sound of someone knocking, he woke at once. He assumed it was Lu Xiaoya looking for him. He raised his wrist to check his watch: a little past eight, not too early after all. So he called out, "Coming!"

After calling out, he began to get dressed. Once dressed, he opened the door — but standing outside was someone entirely unexpected: Tian Xiaopeng.

For an instant, Su Xinghui was caught off guard, but he quickly composed himself and said evenly, "Oh, Director Tian — please come in!"

Tian Xiaopeng smiled and said, "Thank you, Mayor Su!"

After saying that, Tian Xiaopeng followed Su Xinghui into the room and sat down.
