Chapter 154: Heartache's Direct Confrontation 3

~2 min read 393 words

My steps slowly, uncontrollably, walked toward the pavilion; I wanted to see if the name we carved back then was still there. I remembered that Haohua had drawn a circle, encircling both our names.

Walking into the pavilion, I stood on the stone bench and looked up. As it turned out, the name from back then was still carved, just a bit worn; it hadn't been destroyed, and I felt relieved. But when I lifted my head, I felt afraid, afraid that our names had completely vanished.

In fact, I still care; in fact, I still can't let go of that unforgettable feeling from the past.

Slowly walking out of the pavilion toward the direction we used to sit, during the traffic jam I was very anxious, hoping to get there quickly, but now I feel somewhat timid; my heart is afraid, afraid, but I don't know what I'm afraid of.

Although I had already slowed my steps, I unknowingly ended up standing in front of him. He was just lowering his head; in the dim light I couldn't see his expression. Looking down, I saw cigarette butts scattered all around him—I didn't know how many he'd smoked, the ground was full of them. Perhaps he sensed I had come, and he quickly stood up, smiling, and said to me, 'Xuanxuan, I knew you would definitely come.'

I merely nodded at him, without much expression, and said, 'Just tell me what's up.'

'Let's find a place to sit first, okay?' Haohua pulled my hand, gazing at me with his clear, bright eyes; despite the dim streetlight, I could still see some helplessness and loneliness in his eyes.

I gently withdrew my hand and sat on the stone bench, looking up at the sky and saying, 'No need, we can talk about whatever it is right here.' Tonight's moon wasn't very round or bright; the sky looked somewhat dim, without a sky full of stars, only a few pitiful dots hanging in the endless night.

Seeing that I had sat down, Haohua could only follow suit and sit down as well. I kept quietly gazing at the sky; although tonight's scenery wasn't very beautiful, one could say it was rather bleak, but for some reason I just liked staring at it—looking at that tranquil night sky made my mind feel much more at peace.
