2960. Chapter 2960 Side Story: Attending Shangguan Yun's Family Gathering 9

"Lao Ma called. What should I say? She's definitely asking whether we want to come back for lunch at noon." I looked at Liu Xi and Shangguan Yun and asked.

"Of course we're not going back." Liu Xi replied quickly.

After saying that, he added, "What I mean is, I won't be coming back for lunch. As for the two of you, I don't know. I can't just leave Lin Chen behind and go home, can I?"

"Then let's not go back either; we'll keep them company for lunch." Shangguan Yun also smiled and said.

After hearing Shangguan Yun's words, I picked up the phone and laughed, saying, "Hey, Mom……

"What time are you coming back for lunch at noon? We're waiting for you." Lao Ma wasn't asking whether we'd come back for lunch; she was asking what time we'd come back to eat.

"Um, Mom, we're not coming back for lunch. We'll eat first and then go back; we still have a few things to buy." I said, making up an excuse.

That's all I could say.

If we don't buy the things properly, wouldn't it be a hassle to have to go out again?

"Oh, I see. Then it's fine if you're late; we'll wait for you." Lao Ma still wouldn't give up.

"Um… but I'm hungry; we're going to eat now." I looked at them again and said.

Liu Xi heard me say that, yet he gave me a thumbs‑up and smiled.

"Oh, then don't stay hungry—go ahead and eat first. We won't wait for you anymore." After hearing me say that, Lao Ma finally let us off the hook.

"Um, Lao Ma, you should eat early too. I'll hang up now—we're going to eat, I'm starving, I'm exhausted." I said affectionately to Lao Ma.

"Mm." She said that and then hung up.

After hanging up, we went to eat.

After we finished eating, we strolled around outside a bit and then headed back.

When we get back to Shangguan Yun's grandmother's house later, there will still be several hours of travel.
