Chapter 43: A Flavorless Struggle 2
Shangguan Yun—those three words lightly tugged at my heart. I clung to the phone, torn inside for a long time, unsure whether to call him. In the end I still couldn't bring myself to dial, so I switched off the phone and got ready for sleep.
Even if I called, what could I say? I've been trying to avoid him at every turn.
"Liu Xi, I'm going to sleep. When you leave, remember to turn off the computer and lock the door." I inexplicably yelled at Liu Xi.
On the contrary, Liu Xi just answered obediently.
These past two days I've left my phone with Liu Xi, and I told him to say I'm not available no matter who calls.
Liu Xi was obedient too, never urging me to pick up the phone—perhaps no one has called me at all. It seems that even if I vanished for a few days, nobody would notice; thinking about it, I really am a failure as a person.
Leaning against the windowsill gazing outside, the weather is fine today, but my mood just won't lift.
"Is that Xuanxuan calling?" Just then Mama's voice shattered the silence.
I hurriedly put on my slippers and ran out, unable to help asking, "Who is it?"
"It's a girl who says she's your classmate," Mama answered.
I hastily grabbed the phone and put it to my ear, but the voice was Li Feng's—Mama had clearly said it was a girl, leaving me confused.
Just then Mama was about to go out, so I boldly asked, "How come it's you? Weren't you supposed to be a girl?"
"I had my sister call; why is your phone always with your younger brother?"
I had almost forgotten Li Feng—turns out he still seeks me out; when I lose contact, he still gets anxious wondering where I am. Suddenly my heart warmed.
"He said he's been busy these days and left it with him—do you have any business?" I casually made up a lie.
"If there's nothing wrong, I shouldn't be looking for you—I miss you. Later I'll come to your place and take you to school." Li Feng said gently.
I agreed, chatted with Li Feng for a bit then hung up. Afterward my mood improved a lot and I didn't feel so empty. I admit these past few days I haven't controlled my emotions well, constantly thinking about things I shouldn't and hoping for things that could never happen.
