As it turned out, his place didn't have many blankets; he normally slept alone, so having so many blankets was useless.

He just took a blanket; it's not June now, and I was afraid he'd get cold. Besides, he was sleeping in the living room, and I felt somewhat reluctant.

I wandered back and forth in the room for a long, long time without getting into bed to sleep.

Finally, I gritted my teeth and went out, only to find that Shangguan Yun wasn't asleep either; he was watching TV.

Seeing me go out, he immediately sat up and asked, "What's wrong?"

"Nothing, I just came to see if you were asleep," I said, a little embarrassed.

"Won't you be cold dressed so lightly? Hurry inside and sleep; you have to get up early for class tomorrow," Shangguan Yun said, pulling my hand.

My hands were ice‑cold, while his were so warm.

"Won't you be cold sleeping here alone? … How about you sleep with me? Besides, your bed is pretty big." I finally mustered the courage to say that.

I figured Shangguan Yun would never expect me to say such a thing. He stared at me with wide eyes, silent for a long time. Seeing that, I hurried to explain: "I don't mean anything else; I'm just afraid you'll catch a chill, and besides, I've taken over your bed, so…"

After hearing my explanation, Shangguan Yun came to, laughed, and said to me, "No misunderstanding, I understand. Let's go to sleep early." Shangguan Yun got up, one arm holding the blanket, the other supporting me, and we entered the room like that.

Lying on the bed, I turned off the light; inside it was pitch black, with no end in sight.

I lay at the very edge of the bed, as far over as I could, hoping to put some distance between myself and Shangguan Yun.

"Won't you fall off lying all the way at the edge?" Shangguan Yun's voice sounded in my ear, and he pulled me into his embrace, pressing me tightly against his chest. My heart instantly began to race.

"You're so ice‑cold alone; aren't you cold?" Shangguan Yun said, picking up the blanket placed nearby and covering me with it.
