Chapter 1037: Xia Qing's Wolf Team

The wanderer squad living in the Evolution Forest knew the terrain here far better than Xia Qing, so they had carefully picked a suitable valley at the border between the western wolf pack's and the western Evolution Tiger's territory to dig traps and lure the tigers and wolves.

This area should belong to the common hunting zone — the fringe between the tiger and wolf territories. Normally, even if other beasts and humans passed through to hunt, as long as outsiders didn't hold this place for long, the Evolution Tigers and Evolution Wolves wouldn't interfere. During the Harmful Rain Season, they were even less likely to wander into a place like this.

So when the Northern Wolf King brought Xia Qing through the mountain cave to the sniping point, the wanderer and the two giant lizards inside the cave on the opposite mountain peak were sitting relaxed against the cave mouth, resting.

Now the Western Wolf King had been riled by Xia Qing and run off, the Western Evolution Tiger had been put down by Xia Qing's soothing capsules, and inside the Evolution Forest ahead, thick with harmful grass, the wounded wanderer hiding there knew this stretch of forest extremely well — if Xia Qing rushed in to search, she'd be at a serious disadvantage.

You sit on your home ground, set traps, lay out all kinds of poison, hide in the dark waiting for me and the wolf pack to fall into your pit? Then let me show you what an aerial dimension-reduction strike means.

The distance from here to the helicopter must be beyond the walkie-talkie's communication range.

Xia Qing turned on her phone, found a satellite signal, sent her location to Hu Zifeng, then made the call. "Captain Hu, are you still in the Evolution Forest? I've already eliminated six enemies; the last wounded one has hidden inside the Evolution Forest. Bring the helicopter over and find him from the air… capturing him alive won't be easy — he knows this stretch of Evolution Forest extremely well, and he's skilled at using poison and setting traps. Best not to take risks."

"Understood."

Hearing that Xia Qing was unhurt, Hu Zifeng relaxed and answered crisply, "Eryong, take off — southwest. We're going to mop up the last wanderer. I'll handle radar monitoring and search; Jingkuan handles visual search."

Eryong immediately started the helicopter. "Copy that. Sister Qing took a few wolves and wiped out six wanderers on her own — that's beautiful work!"

Jingkuan gazed at the vast Evolution Forest shrouded in mist and sighed, "Sister Qing teamed with two wolves, and their combat power has already crushed our squad — even surpasses the Tangzhou squad."

Hu Zifeng gave an objective assessment: "If it's a fight in the Evolution Forest during the Harmful Rain Season, Sister Qing's wolf team wins. If it's outside the Harmful Rain Season, human squads have hot weapons backing them up — Sister Qing's wolf team and the Tangzhou squad are fifty-fifty. But if the full Northern Wolf Pack joins the fight, no matter the weather, the Tangzhou squad has no chance of winning. Because the Northern Wolf King is a brain-domain evolver, and Sister Qing is a dual-system top-tier sniper."

Eryong laughed heartily, "Relax — our squad and Sister Qing's wolf team will never end up on opposite sides."

Jingkuan asked, "Boss, once the news that you and Sister Qing have 'split' gets out, Aurora and End Road will definitely try to poach her while she's vulnerable. What are the captains planning? Sister Qing loves high-quality crop seeds and saplings — if we…"

Knowing full well what was meant, Hu Zifeng kept his eyes on the monitor ahead. "That's not something for us to ask about. We're approaching the target area — begin the mission. Sister Qing, we're approaching the airspace above the target area. We see you."

How to tell which one is Xia Qing? On the radar display — the figure with an Evolution Wolf beside her!

Xia Qing had of course also heard the helicopter's roar. She waved her arm to give the helicopter's radar a clearer image. "Right here in the Evolution Forest to my north — this area's yours. I'm going to the battlefield in that southern valley. After you clear this place, on the big rock beside the beast trail in the valley two peaks west of here, there's a black body bag with a signal transmitter on it. After you collect the body, rendezvous with me in the southern valley."

"Copy that."

Hu Zifeng directed Eryong toward the target area. Xia Qing and the lead wolf left together, racing over the mountains to check on the Evolution Tiger she'd drugged.

Seeing the two giant wolves guarding the bag holding the Evolution Tiger, Xia Qing finally relaxed. Good — this Evolution Tiger, stripped of mobility, hadn't been bitten to death by the giant wolves, nor gnawed down to a bare skeleton by out-of-control animals.

Seeing Xia Qing and the Northern Wolf King arrive, the two giant wolves stopped guarding the Evolution Tiger and ran to the Wolf King standing on a rock, howling in triumph — and joined in, aowu-aowu.

The Northern Wolf King was in the mood too. Standing on higher ground, he began to howl. The Western Wolf King glanced at the Northern Wolf King, then leapt to even higher ground and started howling.

Then the two wolves began to compete, each finally claiming a mountaintop, seeing whose voice was louder. Hu Zifeng's squad in the air saw the seven wolves on the nearby peak and were shaken once again.

Xia Qing had run until her throat was on fire — she had zero interest in howling. The Evolution Tiger's wounds had been soaked by harmful rain; she had to treat them quickly, or they'd surely get infected and inflamed.

Her big medicine kit was in the cave inside the battle valley — she had to get back to fetch the medicine. She couldn't count on that howling bunch of giant wolves. Xia Qing resignedly hoisted the eight-hundred-plus-jin Evolution Tiger onto her shoulders and headed back.

Seeing Xia Qing hoist the tiger, all seven wolves stopped howling and followed her back.

The wolves and the Evolution Tiger had covered the distance at full speed in three minutes; Xia Qing, carrying the Evolution Tiger, jogged at a faster pace and still took over twenty minutes to return to the tiger-wolf battle valley.

After she set the Evolution Tiger down inside the big cave where the intruders had hidden, the moisture in the wind increased — wind blew the mist, leaves tumbled — harmful rain was coming again.

The Western Wolf Pack turned their heads, looking as if they meant to return to their own territory.

The Harmful Rain Season wasn't suitable for outdoor activity. If it hadn't been for hunting down this invading human wanderer squad, the two Wolf Kings would never have left their own territories and packs at such a dangerous time.

"Queen, tell them to wait. Giant Wolf's big brother, you all wait!"

After getting the Northern Wolf King to hold the Western Wolf Pack, Xia Qing ran back to her sniping point and brought her backpack over from the damp cave.

She took a folding water basin from her backpack, unfolded and set it on the ground, then poured in a large bottle of uncontaminated spring water, added one Harmful-Rain Suppressant and six vials of X Nutrient Solution. Only then did she point at the fierce-looking giant wolves beside her and communicate with the Northern Wolf King: "Queen, this is the suppressant and nutrient solution. You take a couple of sips, then let them all have a couple of sips too."

The wolf pack had been exposed to red-grade harmful rain — the harmful-element content in their bodies must have risen. Xia Qing didn't want a single wolf in this pack to grow weak or lose control just because they'd taken part in this fight.

Last year, when Xia Qing went to the Western Evolution Forest to clean up the bodies of an invading Evolution Monkey troop, she'd fed Broken-Waist Wolf and Handsome Giant Wolf medicine tablets in front of the Western Wolf Pack, then handed the remaining tablets to Broken-Waist Wolf to pass on to the Western Wolf Pack.

Later Xia Qing asked Broken-Waist Wolf and confirmed that every wolf in the Western Wolf Pack had taken the tablets.

This spring, when Broken-Waist Wolf traded with Xia Qing for the Northern Wolf Pack's deworming medicine, Xia Qing threw in the Western Wolf Pack's share as well. The feedback she got later was that the Western Wolf Pack had taken the medicine too.

So Xia Qing wanted to try having them drink these medicines before they left.
